Things I would have added: * Tier 1: The Mandalorian * Tier 2: Toku-inspired video games (Mega Man, Viewtiful Joe, etc) * Tier 6: Disney mascot character fights, Toku NSFW parodies, the Power Rangers curse
Mandalorian would fall under "Ameritoku" Video games are their own thing, with this focusing on film and tv Mascot fights arent really toku, NSFW has an entry or two on here, but we don't really want to show them off because of RU-vid reasons. Power Rangers curse is a hyper disrespectful "theory" that people who play rangers die in horrible ways. This same thought also applies to Rider actors in the showa era, with a manga even discussing it. It would not and should not be on icebergs related to shows and movies.
Nice to see some indie toku getting more recognition like Bardion and Kapten JUSTICE! Bima-S in the other hand is referenced as a slight mention, when it comes to Bima Satria Garuda related topic. This iceberg even forgot to include china's sentai called Giant Saver. Good video though, very good
55:27 the Star Fleet Project does not only feature Brian May's version of the Star Fleet theme, it's a star studded album with many musicians who played in many classic albums from the 70s onwards. And it fearures not only Brian on guitars, but also Eddie Van Halen. And it all happened because Brian's kid got him into the show by watching it together! That's really wholesome. If you haven't yet, do check it out! It was re-released last year.
Me neither, although he does not have a giant robot to fight giant monsters, he does shrink to kick/help those much much larger than him, so it fits? I would say it's even better?!

35:25 I remember first seeing Cyper Cop on RU-vid a few years ago. Honestly, it's probably one of my favorite Toku shows mostly because of just how cool it is to me.
So I did some research into El Chapulin Colorado's appearance in Fortnite. Turns out he also appeared in Rocket League and Fall Guys and his Fortnite skin reappeared in the shop as recently as August 6 of this year because he got a minifigure version for use in Fortnite's Lego mode. I also found out the opening theme for his show was a song composed by John Williams that was made for the 1973 musical film adaptation of Tom Sawyer. I gotta track this show down, this intrigues me!
1:50:08 i think you neglected to mention that Ogon bat goes way back before the first two known films. he debuted in the 30s during the era of kamishibai (paper theatre) and is one of the only few noteworthy tokusatsu heroes or characters to be in the public domain and therefore free to use in some ways.
Surprised that you didn't include 'Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo', the Studio Ghibli produced tokusatsu short prequel of Hayao Miyazaki's 1984 film/1982-1994 manga 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind', directed by Shinji Higuchi and written/co-produced by Hideaki Anno. It can be viewed as a spiritual predecessor of the Shin Japan Heroes Universe, specially of its takes on Godzilla, Ultraman and Kamen Rider. It's also the reason why Miyazaki feels Anno should direct a Nausicaä sequel. BTW, very cool of you including El Chapulín Colorado. When you think about it, it IS a tokusatsu.
the correct pronunciation and writing would be, Cavaleiros do Futuro - ptBR. Very surprised that this program is considered Tokusatsu, despite having aired in the mornings of the largest broadcaster in Brazil it was always considered low budget
My boy mercury man really got under the radar hahaha I was on the edge of my seat waiting for him. But thinking about it he might be categorized more of a super hero flick than a toku adjacent movie.

I skimmed a lot of the video past lv 3 so I apologise if it's mentioned somewhere but there's this thing called Kaiju Big Battel which started as an art student project in Boston and is a performance troupe that parodies pro wrestling and of course kaiju battles with colorful Japanese inspired characters and monsters, often involving destructible props. It looks pretty dumb but a lot of fun, and I just stumbled upon their website one day back in I dunno, 1999-ish if I had to guess. It seems that it's still going on today.

I'm from Mexico... and I've never heard anyone consider el chapulin colorado as something sentai-type... yes literally lucha lbre movies ... a long time ago I found an old page talking about the similarity in both worlds... and in movie many lucha little, the luchadores are like superheroes or secret agents and they fight monsters, aliens, organized crime. .. the most popular worldwide THAT'S WHY THEY ARE THEIR OWN GENRE other countries have imitated the formula, almost making it like a batwoman xd ,captain america and santo vs spiderman xd these 2 are not official, but the fighting batwoman is very popular in Europe, Although I don't remember if that Batwoman was made in Mexico...
In Spanish El ver al Chapulin Colorado en el video me hace pensar que Televisa (the biggest entertainment company in latin america) no solo pudo crear telenovelas (soap operas in spanish) sino tambien pudo crear shows tokusatsu y quizas poder haber rivalizado con Saban Toei Tsuburaya y Toho pero lastimosamente no fue asi.
Just a few months ago I found out about the origin of that coloring book that I've had since I was a child... samurai squad, I don't know what gridman since childhood...who would say 50:13 Seriously? I know that in Brazil some Sentai arrived, I thought it wasn't Flashman... and they became cult... but I never heard of this one. Ultraman was very popular in Mexico, and some others arrived with dubbing such as Ultraman Tiga, which for indirect reasons is appreciated by Dragon Ball fans... because thanks to its dubbed intro, the Spanish singer of dbgt was found, who due to bad habits, from the dubbing studio, which did not save their administrative data... Latam never found out who sang dbgt's songs, until after a search for a group on Facebook, he finally found himself and went with Ultraman Tiga's song because he sings in that series too
I like to add the Sukeban Deka TV series, & other "Delinquent Girl Cop" genre, they follow many Tokusatsu tropes... Also, for adding Filipino shows, i like to recommend other Superhero show from The Philippines. Mulawin, Enchantadia, Captain Barbel, and specially Darna.
19 minutes in and ...wow...i am the biggest Tokusatsu fan in my county, but even i have not heard of a few of these. I keep watching wondering what you'll say about Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills, which was the first non-adapted Tokusatsu made for America audiences, and one that everyone loves to make-fun of

I'm surprised this doesn't mention the giant saver series made in China. It is basically the same thing as super sentai with toys and sixth rangers and stuff. They even get suit actors from Japan to do the spandex scenes.

Hey Marc, this a great video, but in tier 4 when it mentions Condorman. I don’t know if you made this image or not, but I think that’s referring to an actual Toku series from 1975 called Seigi no Shinboru Condorman (Symbol of Justice Condorman). This could just be a coincidence and you meant to talk about the Disney film.

I cannot for the life of me find that history of Godzilla video you mention when talking about Tsuburaya’s WWII films. I can find the ultraman videos just fine, but the Godzilla one eludes me, did it get taken down or something?

So, in regards to Bibleman season 2 "The Bibleman Adventure" is much better, not just production wise, but also writing wise. Season 1 was very generic but season 2 was way more fun and even broke the 4th wall a few times.

It’s a very obvious error in speaking because Marcos says “one of the first heroes” before, and “film released in 50” after With a project this big, one or two small errors pop up, but if you listen to the rest you can tell the entry isn’t entirely incorrect
