One thing I love about these large Kenyan towns like Kisii, Meru, Nyeri, Kakamega etc is that the economy is very robust and almost entirely black/local owned. Some fine tuning and planning they could in the near future make great cities.
Waaa...didn't expect this kind of beauty, especiallythat1st drone shot of the stadium and town cascaded by the hills😍 Going to shop for the soapstone art in Kisii.
A better 'city' could be built on these hills but Kenyans are not interested in quality stuffs. Someone spending upwards of 50m KShs still will refuse to engage proper professionals hence building very low quality structures. It is the main problem with Kisii town of today. Of course, it is a big problem in most of the rapidly growing Kenyan urban centres. But Kisii will get better. We will design and build more decent stuff and improve the urban space from the current chaos.
Tell you what,,,Kisii's growth is attributed to high number of abroad population investment back in home town and farming,,wish all of kenya would do the same
Everywhere Kenya is growing, we're on an upward trajectory. We just need to mop bad governance from our leaders and tone down corruption and we'll definitely be a proper middle income country by 2030.
Traveller, Traveller, Traveller, now I'm seeing everyday upload and I love that.... Inspiration.. Beautiful kisii... Everywhere in Kenya is under construction... That's very good
Kisii and Lamu were high on my wishlist, asante for delivering💪👌 One of these days i'll tuma kakitu kwa mpesa as appreciation Unafanya kazi nzuri sana bro
Thanks AT and Josh for always giving us superb content. Kisii is a town with so much potential. After Nakuru and Eldoret attain city status, next on the list should be Kisii, Kericho, Thika and perhaps Kakamega and Malindi
Kakamega is actually better positioned though still has a long way. Nakuru is very much qualified it just need a little bit more infrastructure to accommodate mass transportation like Kisumu, Mombasa & Nairobi
@@brianokero4991 All of them are towns. Kakamega beats them all but only in planning and organization. Definitely Kisii and Thika should be sixth and seventh after Eldoret.
Government African Schools were 3: Kisii; Kakamega and Kagumo. Kisii is predominantly SDA and Catholic; both days are equally lazy. Nightlife in Kisii is actually far more thorough than in Kisumu; considering the catchment area for night-lifers. Thank you for a job well done. You make me miss home. Walk around with a more informed person next time haha (light note..) Always locked from Thailand.
@@marygekonge5983 true in my village almost everybody has a relative in the US UK Canada or Gulf countries and they are investing so much money building their parents homes etc
yeah, consequently the 2007election played a role too. many people who had invested outside kisii like in kericho and kisumu were flown and some of them rersoted to reinvest back home
Good town messed up by poor planning,... Let's be honest, comparing it to Kakamega... Kakamega is well organized but unfortunately not developed or active like Kisii... For boda bodas everyone must be scratching their head how it will be sorted... Including many other kenyan towns.
Greetings African Traveller, loving the Vlogs, keep them coming young man as you're doing a wonderful job and that drone is a hit. The lyric and beats are "PERFECT". Thanks for sharing Vlog King of Kenya.
Good morning - We are planning to visit Kisii Kenya next year....Where did you stay while there? What Hotel's do you recommend? Or do you recommend airbnb?
Ufanisi Hotel and Kamel Park are international standard. AirBnB can be more affordable too, but consider those two hotels. Enjoy your visit. We call it GUSII ENSE Y'OMWANDO - Gusii The Promised Land.
Than you so much - My team and I are planning to go to Kisii in 2025- Also, one more question...do you know any reliable transportation companies (preferably vans) there will be about 8 of us traveling @@felixmakinda7689
Wow am in love with kisii i wd love to support that guy with them artwork his prices are👍🏽can someone drop his no cnt clearly understand the accent plz
My Top five towns to keep eyes on in a few years : 1.Kisii town 2.Kakamega town 3.Lamu town 4.Kisumu town 5.Kiambu town You can chain more towns with pontetial down in the reply section section
2:20 Please give us a better description and details of the hotel and other interesting places you visit such as the soapstone quarry/shop. So that those local tourists who would want to visit Kisii and other towns in Kenya know what to consider in their plans.
Nobody is talking about how green Kisii County (including Kisii town) is! I am talking about the juxtaposition of the trees; the forest to be exact with the development of the populated areas. No wonder it always Kisii is blessed with rainfall because of the conservation of trees! The greenery is not just for the beauty of the eye; trees supply us with abundance of fresh water and fresh air to breath. No domestic animals roaming around everywhere eating every vegetation in sight (a.k.a. pastoralism)! Pastoralism is why the Sahara desert is moving South at an alarming rate creating drought and famine in its path! The sooner Africans should realize and abandon that age old environmental degradation practice, the better. Other counties such as Baringo, Turkana, West Pokot, Laikipia, Marsabit, Tana River, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, etc. should take note if they really value the welfare of their own people. There is no excuse now; each county government should strive to make their county green for their own sake and those of their future generations. It is the forests that bring rain folks... We Kenyans seem to have forgotten the crusade spearheaded by Mama Miti, Professor Wangari Muta Maathai. Each county government and leadership should mobilize their own youth ili waweze kufanya kazi kwa moyo wa uzalendo kupitia utamaduni wa *"ujima;"* isiwe tu iwe lazima kutegemea kulipwa mishahara kutoka kwa serikali kuu au mabwenyenye. Moyo wa kizalendo ni lazima uzingatiwe.
What's funny is that when I was little (in the early 80s) I can still remember a lot of open, undeveloped land around "Kisii District". I even used to see wild animals like gazelle(or what looked like it) and even monkeys. Today that same land is parceled up and settled/farmed. There were also a lot less people in Kisii back then too. Kisii is still beautiful, but back in the day....It was magnificent!
How are they planning to repair the areas they are taking the stones from protected mining gives the best outcome So if there is no plan to repair the land please work on a plan
Kenyan Towns look cleaner than South African towns..i would be embarrassed to drive around my town and take videos because of all this rubbish piling up everywhere.
Hii vita iko hapa kati ya wajaluo na wakisii juu ya maendeleo ya pande hizo mbili,je Raila akiwa prezo i bet it could be even worse.my fellow friends calling kisii town a mere village market is ignorance of the highest order same as trumpeting how migori and kisumu are developed or developing even turkana has a share in our overall GDP let's not diminish while uplifting other regions because of economic activities going on in those places.we are all in one territory called kenya we use the same currency every part of this country is developing albeit in different paces so let's not bring that primitivity of camparing anything and everything in the same umbrella kenya hio ujinga tuliachia watanzania
It's a friendly fire no biggie. Lakini ukweli pia usemwe. Of course Nyanza is developing very fast and it's the best region if you are considering investments. With kisumu to the North, Kisii on the South Migori, Homabay, Bondo, Siaya ,Oyugis, Nyamira, Keroka ,Rongo, Mbita we are on the move After 2029 census Kisii will obviously hit the 250k population and be declared a city It will be our happiness.
@@innocentodongo8011 already kisii is above 250k Is only the issue of good roads and planning already it has been proposed on the Senate together with Nakuru I like the way u argue Kenya is one and if kisii becomes a city it is good for people from nyanza and Kenya .
Lies we originated from Mt. Elgon. Kisiis are among the first settlers of Kenya. Today Luo nyanza to kabianga was settled by kisii before we were displaced by the luos and kipsigis
In terms of infrastructure, and more so roads kisii is lagging behind compared to other towns in nyanza region.I don't know what governor ongwae is doing to upgrade the town to the required standards
@@assadalawite9527 Hapo Sasa umejidanganya. Kisumu is a City. It has more industries, More startups, More retail shops/malls, More Banks, More hotels, a very busy airport, a port, Large scale sugar /rise, Fishing industries, and More people than Kisii. Kisumu has a better cash flow than Kisii, Kericho & Eldoret combined according to it's GDP size & HDI. Only Nakuru, Mombasa & Nairobi beat Kisumu due to their robust tourism industry of which Kisumu is working on.
@@nairobinyeusi5811 I am saying this based off research man...Kisumu is supported by HIV NGOs, civil servants and diaspora remittances plus the indians own almost all the CBD buildings The normal Kisii man/ woman has more spending power than Kisumu, tembea Kisii on a normal day ujione biashara. Even the nightlife is better, Kisumu just has the better infrastructure but no cashflow amongst the majority
@@assadalawite9527 😂😂😂Your argument more tribal & emotional that factual. Kisumu has no NGO programs, it's food secure, has no Landless people & has a very high literacy level. Kisumu accounts to 70% of Nyanza's GDP. It's not some Village town with pathway unpaved roads with a mad house kiosks town with no estate. Kisumu has the biggest middle class population in Nyanza & Western.
What a disservice to Kisii! I’m a Mazungo, having visited Kisii 5 times and I know more than this video. How dare you pretend quarry excavation is a cute touristic experience! Do you know how little money they make for all the hard work?!? Do you know that their roofs leak during the rainy season?!? Yes, it’s a season! Not all the time. Do you know of the women’s annual gathering here?!? Did you speak with the women of the 2 markets?!? Did you explore the effects of illegal coal sales?!? Etc.
Is this a Joke. 😂. Kisumu is Miles ahead. I watched the Kisumu video on this channel. Kisumu is just on another league literally. Wide Roads, Tall buildings, very clean grid lock streets, Massive estates, industries, airport & port . I bet some estates like Kondele in Kisumu beat Kisii.
@@nairobinyeusi5811 Well, that's debatable. Kisumu just has three of four tall buildings, the rest are old two or three floors. But Kisii has more cash flow than Kisumu, CBK acknowledged this and gave them their own cash collection center so they no longer depend on the branch in Kisumu. And again Kisii is growing faster than Kisumu.
@@ivanterence698 According to Official financial report Kisumu is way ahead of Kisii in Revenue production. Kisumu generates more cash than Kisii & Nyamira combined. It has a GDP of 3.9 Billion currently with a HDI of 0.630 Medium. Here is the link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_counties_of_Kenya_by_GDP
@@ivanterence698 kisii will have a long way to go to reach the level of kisumu.. bearing in mind that the town does not have much land for expansion like kisumu.. from the video of kisumu that African travellers posted he did not include other areas of the kisumu city and estates like kondele, nyamasaria, lolwe, nyalenda 5 ways. as at now kisumu town is on flight it even contributes much to the GDP of kenya than kisii town.Besides, with the resumption of the railway transport, international flights, and the port, the special economic zone, the expansion of city center up to ojola.. man kisii is growing but it wont match kisumu any time soon.
@@ivanterence698 You are also mistaken about Kisumu's buildings. Kisumu has the most buildings over 10 floors outside Nairobi & Mombasa. Kisumu has a built up urban territory of 297 km² while Kisii has an urban Size of 68 km² meaning Kisii is actually smaller than milimani Estate in Kisumu 😂. Kisii is literally a Center not a town. It's a dwarf compared to Kisumu. Comparing Kisumu with Kisii is mere stupidity to be honest. It doesn't make any sense at all. Kisumu County is 8th on Revenue production in Kenya, Kisii is 14th. In the same list Kisumu County ranked above Nyeri, Kakamega, Bungoma, Narok, Murang'a and even Uasin Gishu of Eldoret. So let's not Fool ourselves. Let's talk facts
