Upgrading A Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 With A Wide Range of DodoMat & Silent Coat Products To Fully Sound Deaden This Van!
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - This is a Long Video For Those That Want To Know What We Did And Where!
Ok so in our latest offering into the world of VW Transporter T6.1 Upgrades we had a customer who wanted to Fully Deaden the Rear of their vehicle to make it as quiet and enjoyable as possible whilst driving so it sounded and felt more like a car!!
A real fun upgrade for us here and something a bit different from the usual electronics and retrofits that we offer.
As mentioned we use a consortium of Dodo Mat & Silent Coat Products that included:
✓ Silent Coat 2mm Pro
✓ Silent Coat Extra 4mm Mat
✓ Silent Coat Absorber 15
✓ Dodo Mat 6mm Super Liner
✓ Dodo Mat 15mm Acoustic Liner
In the video itself we go over the product used, where we have applied and why as well as giving you a full run down right at the end!
We then round this vehicle off with a Full Rear Ply and Carpeting Process!

Like the attention to detail! It would greatly help if you would clearly explain different insulation strategies between high and low frequencies and put the result through a sound measurement over the entire bandwidth, for flanking and direct sound so that you can actually illustrate how effective the intervention is.

You should do a before, and after DB test. That way you can prove to prospective clients the benefit of carrying out all that work. I’ve done my own van , and I’m very pleased with the results. It’s took some time to do, and it’s well worth it.

You’re right! It’s well worth it. On this particular one, the customer drove back to Essex without any music just to listen to the quiet :) We have done DB tests before and after and tried to film them but the footage never comes out that great! Thanks for the input though dude!

@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies the best example I can give you about road noise reduction is this. In my caddy had to stop the van to take a phone call on the hands free. That was with the bulkhead fitted. After soundeading , can take phone calls on the move and I’ve now removed the bulkhead. I enjoy the content , keep it coming 👊🏻. I would love to see you do a big audio install with big subs in the vans side panels .

You make good videos, but you need to choose between 'background' music or narration - not both as it is very distracting, and the music adds nothing.

One of your ‘competitors’ up the road, *essex Vans, do ultimate sound deadening too. Except they don’t do wheel arches, don’t do the load area and then charge you for insulation that they don’t fit. Ask me how I know…

How do you know? We always take photos at each stage and send to the customer on completion so they can see exactly what we’ve done and where once the panels go back on so they know it’s done :)

@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies because they tell you that you don’t need under arches and the load area doing as there’s no improvement (which is wrong), and when my pop top was fitted by a different company it was noted that the voids on each side only had Silentcoat and not the insulation that they are supposed to fit as part of their ‘ultimate’ sound deadening and insulation package. So what they sell isn’t ‘ultimate’ at all, in fact they short change you and provide a sub standard service. Did I mention they were fitting incorrectly load rated wheels and tyres to their vans too?

How much are we talking for this? my van is already carpeted and lined but no sound deadening or thermo layer? also noticed you didnt use any of the plastic wool insulation (or did you and didnt film it?).

For costings, I’d get in touch directly so we can discuss as we work out quotes accurately to the vehicle. We didn’t use any of the Thermo Fleece on this as it doesn’t offer that much in terms of sound deadening and this customer didn’t want any of it for insulation :)
