A modern take on Goldeneye 007 controls- You CAN play the original game the way modern FPS controls work. Here is how: First choose in game controls menu "1.2 solitaire" and use an original N64 controller (sorry Brawler64 I still love you). Now put your left hand on the D-pad for walking and strafing, and your Right hand to use the stick for looking and aiming only. Change the inverted or non-inverted as desired "Reverse" or "Upright" in game. The right index finger is now to shoot. Your left index finger is now to aim with the L button. This functions similar to and mimics the hand assignments of most modern FPS and newer controllers. This fixes the original tank-like control option that a lot of kids used back in the day. BTW, you can also use these similar controls for Duke Nukem64, Turok, Doom64, Quake 2 already has this control setting by default!
@@wartortle3672 please share with others if you can. There were a few of us who played like this in the 90s but.. hush.. and unfortunately a dead art now. share with me if you have issues.
@@shaun8062 Will do, im now able to play this amazing game with the control scheme I've grown accustomed to growing up. I will also be trying this for Doom64 as well.
@@wartortle3672 you can use this control scheme with Duke nukem 64, Doom 64, all the turok games, the two Quake games, perfect dark, etc. The wording is slightly different. Like in Turok, you just choose "left handed".
Correction: this isn't "legacy southpaw inverted" in COD. This is "legacy inverted" but not southpaw. In Goldeneye, it's called 2.3 "Domino" (inverted, which is default). If I did this control setting and swapped controllers (holding controller 1 in my right hand and controller 2 in my left hand), that would be "legacy southpaw inverted".
@@FrungyKing Excellent. Bee tee dubs; Is this an officially sanctioned speedrun style? Scratch that; this NEEDS to be an officially sanctioned speedrun style.
Troy Fletcher Yes it is, and many world records use the style due to some advantages it has. A bug in the game's programming makes it so inputs from the second controller are accepted during cutscenes, in which the timer is frozen, so you can shoot and build speed without wasting any actual time. My Archives, Surface 1, and Runway world records on my channel all use 2 controllers
I've tried coming back to this game on my Steam Deck, but the controls are just terrible :/ I honestly don't know how I beat it on the hardest back then.
