The Unknown Survivor Weakened Voice Lines 

It's implied it did copy a serial killer, it even uses the axe from the serial killer and has an add on from them. Generally the implication with the unknown is that it copies and makes local legends

I have a theory about this. The Unknown has a specific add-on called the killer's mask. This means that before the stranger became a monster, he "already was". After the killer was caught for his crimes and arrested, he was also chosen to be a project called "Apple Pie". Little is known about this experiment. But in other unknown add-ons, it says that the city's cinema received support from the government to make trash films and raise funds for this project. Another "confirmation" of this "apple pie" project theory is a phrase that the killer says in the lobby after the jumpscare: "I lived in long-forgotten dungeons." In case this phrase is not related to the government experiment theory... So it is somehow linked to the "game obscure" add-on but I still have no idea how this add-on is linked to the killer.

Yeah, it definitely looks more along the lines of "I learned that this sound attracts people" than mindlessly copying whichever sounds it's victims made. I'm using Fiddlesticks from League as a basis to this killer's behavior and it's pretty clear how big the difference is in both creature's levels of sentience. Despite how powerful both of them are in their own universes, Fiddlesticks is considerably more primitive and only refers to itself in first person when it's straight up copying speech from another person 1 to 1. "I'm coming to help. Where are you? I can't see you. I. Can't. See you." Considering that the main theory going on regarding the Unknown is being a manifestation of seemingly disconnected rumors that was brought forth through a town's pure paranoia and can seemingly get more powerful the more theories you build around it's origins and possible abilities, i feel The Unknown's lobby quotes are too personal to be copied from someone. They are self imposing, sadistic and sarcastic. It's significantly more intelligent than what people assume is just a flesh puppet, even when you consider that the other killer who's also a manifestation of darkness who controls a flesh puppet (Dredge) only speaks through loud cries of agony.

Given the Unknowns lore, this actually would’ve been great as an aspect of its power. To lure people in, maybe it could only work when someone is Weakened, or when you’re Undetectable. But this would actually unironically work as part of its power. XD
