The Unreleased Friesian Animations - Star Stable Online 

It would honestly help the horses seem a bit more alive, like a horse that would occasionally look to the side, turning back the ears to "listen! to the rider or a tail swish would be so nice.

Maybe these animations will get used when we get to give our horses personalities? Some horses swing more with their head or chew on the bit, so that would be cool!

I really hope SSO eventually does this with all gen 3 breeds. They're already creating a horse bonding initiative - adding in randomised animations like this would help to give our horses a sense of personality rather than being completely robotic

Adds a realistic touch to the horses while walking

Funny how this is something I thought about recently, when people disliked the Belgian's jumping animation. If we had more variations, the horse would have more personality and it would solve issues with weird movement being repeated over and over and over again.

I hope they do come back to the idea this year. Mixing small animations into the gaits like that make the horse look more natural and not like a robot. To me that’s sso’s signature look, the horses just running in an animation loop with no subtle breaks. Seeing this change will give the horses so much realism and personality it’s crazy

I feel like the "pose" ones are testings they made for animations and to see how it would be like in game, almost like a sketch, but they did the "highlight" of the animation. Which means, they probably had tens of animation ideas in mind.

I can see what they are trying to achieve, random animations throught their gaits that would be "idle" like. It would be pretty interesting to see, I honestly... like them. The only thing that is out of place is the gallop, the horse's head is so low it looks bad :^) and maybe the mouth chewing animations are also weird... But otherwise, I think new horses this year are going to be intresting.

Ok, now I want the “ jump” and the posing to be added JUST a the way they are. 😅 Edit: thanks for all the likes 😂😂😂😂😂😂 This is the most I’ve ever gotten😂😂

Star Stable should TOTALLY incorporate these animations into the horses bc it gives them personality. Thats one thing I've always wanted from them was for the horses to be different and even act up at times. I think a posing animation would be cool as well for taking pics (after its fixed) lol

I actually love the idea they had. Love the idea how they wanted to make the horse feel more 'alive' and 'real', how they wanted it to have natural movements during riding etc. I actually like the second rearing animation too. But, the problem with all of these are that they are so "sharp", all the friesian animations and the whole model to me gives a weird "sharp, hard, agressive" vibe. If only the team who made the animations would smoothen them a little bit and THEN combine the animations it would give a really really great natural vibe to the horse. Yes it looked smooth all together, yes it looked a bit natural but you would get bored watching all the animations repeat in the same order at the same time. Thats why I loved when the older horses got the greasing animations because it gave them such a great vibe too. The idea is super great, I would really like to see them talk about this in the future and then rethink this whole thing because yes the idea is great but the implementation is weird.

Hmmm. They mentioned recently adding different "personalities" to the horses as well as possibly dressage. I wonder if they were testing that on the friesian? Some of these remind me of a horse who's speedy and is being held back, or maybe a little sluggish and annoyed by asking to speed up.

It's nice to see the devs truly did care to make the friesian horse look great. Unfortunate that they likely were on a time crunch to get such a hyped up horse released in time for the holidays though.

Now I understand what SSO meant by the Friesian taking so long. These animations are amazing. Must have taken them awhile.

They are beautiful I think if star stable adds them it will make the frizzys better

man i really hope they do this in the future. maybe they're thinking of adding it with the "personalities" they talked about in either the interview or the dev blog

Omg, this is AMAZING!! I loved the occasional "head dip" and the tail swishing on the friesan, they look so much more alive! 😱 And running in different ways too looked magnificent!

I was thinking for a while that SSO needs something like this. Look how lively the horse is in the compilation! It feels like a living creature, not a motorbike with some hair glued on it. I really wish that if those animations roll in they'll be added to all gen 3 horses and not only the newest ones.

It is a pretty cool concept but heck am I glad that they didn't release them (yet). They look rough and unfinished, which is fine, since they never got to see the light of the day. Anyhow, it was super interesting to look at some behind the scenes stuff from sso. ty!

That's what I've been saying for so long, we need idle animations for the different gaits. This is so amazing!! Just the little clip you put together with all the animations (I dont even think it's too frequent) makes the horse seem so much more alive, It's wonderful!

It’s really sad to see that this level of detail is being neglected in the game. This is the sort of stuff that would help give our horses more personality and not just be little robots that follow every command perfectly without hesitation. This is also the kind of thing that I wish sso would tell the community about more often rather than keeping us in the dark about something we would all be incredibly excited about. This has also most likely been scrapped because this amount of animation on every horse would be too difficult with their schedule as they release a new breed every month. Another L for sso

Wow, this was quite interesting to see actually! I'm a bit bummed about sso scrapping these animations. If worked on a bit more they could've been amazing to have in-game. The horses would feel more alive with some variations to their original animations. Maybe they would revisit these in the future, at least I hope they do! Thanks a lot for showing us these.

Animation variation is something sso would do great with, but it would also take more time for them to work on a single breed. This is also a good thing considering how fast they push breeds out now. I would love animation variation, it would bring our horses to life some more. I also noticed that recently SSO had removed some animations from the Jorvik Friesian, so I wonder if that means something.

This is a great idea, and i think these animations are a great base for completing it too. I hope we'll get to see them finalized and in game some time in the future

I love the gallop_05! It honestly looks so good to see their head not be locked downward. Although some of the other animations, in my opinion do seem a bit dramatic and would probably get on my nerves if they were constantly doing that while I was riding or doing dressage. Most of these would be great though, to give the friesians some life and personality. Thanks for showing this to us! Love the posing parts xD

hi there! this may not be seen BUT, I work as a 3D artist and our company does these "poses" also! we use these to test the rigging,animations,how the weight paint works and even for AD campaigns.. its basically like a stress test for the models before being put into the game! I hope this helps

If I had to guess, poses may be a demo of a possible feature in photo modes, as we see in other games, that allow the player to select a pose for the horse and rider in the screenshot. These might be some of the poses we could select for that, or an early version of such a feature. Would personally love that.

I would go feral if the horses could occasionaly toss their head and stretch their neck, or look around whilst cantering. FERAL. Also loving the new intro!

I can give some insight on what "posing" is from an animators perspective. Its most likely a scrapped animation in a WIP state where all of the key poses (the main poses that make up a sequence of animation) are mapped out. What's causing it to look so off is that its been auto inbetweened, the computer has been told to make the model move from pose A to pose B, but has not been tweaked or timed by the animator which would be done in later stages. All 3D (And 2D puppet animation) will initially have this robotic point A to point B inbetweening until the animator adds breakdown poses and tells the computer how it should move between poses. This stage of the animation, where only the key poses are blocked out with little to no work on what goes inbetween, is called posing, hence the files name. If you look closely at the poses it appears to either be a bucking sequence, or perhaps its a bunch of poses done as concepts or tests for individual animations.

The animation, the sound, the timing 🤣🤣 The Posing animation for Arabians has me in stitches

the jump from the trot is great. it's always frustrated me that we could only jump from the canter! also i'd imagine the posing is a tool for people who take photos? i know in the sims 3 horse modding community, we use something called a pose player, which allows us to freeze our characters in a chosen pose to take pictures

It would be really nice to see our horses have a stretch in the gate once in a while. The finished result makes them almost come to life, oh my go the jump trot looks AMAZING

I see these horses everyday. They are proud. They need to be more muscular but not like a heavy horse. Their tail flows in the wind and not boxed and they have a special run again to show their proudness a beauty. They have a shine to their black fur that makes them unique.

This is something that would improve the quality for me. I used to watch the horses run in their gates and enjoy looking at them. So this would be really cool for all horses.!👀

this is AMAZING, if they released them like this i feel like the frisians would have been a lot less hated. The animations are still a bit clunky though, i wish they were more consistent with what breeds gets good animations for what gaits

Most of these extra gaits look like the horse has some ticks (like walk 3 and walk 4). Sick horse. I'm glad they didn't release them. Those movements are actually signs of pain - head shaking, opening mouth etc.
