Well guys...better Smith comes from *Old Ænglish* name: *"smid"* > Since Old Ænglish is a *"Old low German"* language or more correct was *before* the churches manipulating & creating "modern" _(fake)_ ænglish, considered a *Dialect form* of *"Old low German".* The term name *"Angelo-Saxon"* is also *madeUp* by the church from *Bade,* arround 500-700 a. Christ fairytale. Neither the Ængles nore the Saxons, ever called themself this way. Both main german germanic tribes, came from their homeland were today is Germany. Saxons from *"Lower Saxony"* & Angles founded the town *"Hamburg"* with their Homeland before moving over to found Ængland. Ængland means *"Land of the Ængles"* and was Ængaland. > the Saxons had the *most* influence related to their language, which was made the national one. The Ængles gave up their old Homland mostly to the Saxons, including *"Hamburg".* *Hungry* was *Hungrig* in old ænglish, just like in German. In Old low German which is *Old Saxon,* the *very first german germanic language point,* Pepper is also Pepper, since *"High German"* is like "modern english" a construct how the church wanted german to be & sound like, as well as *reduction* of germanic keywords to be replaced with their _(dead)_ language ones from Latin. • Any _"High german"_ word including *-ch* in any form, is lit. _fake_ and brought in by the church. Main reason to get rid of the germanic *-h* which was a spoken *"x".* • Sachsen should be *Saxen* > Saxon Ænglish word *Deer* not only sounds similar to german *Tier,* they are the *same.* In *Old Ænglish* "deer" means *"creature(s)".* • *The church,* reduced the meaning of "deer" down to 1 specific, and *added one of their words in,* which is *"animal".* • *Old Ænglish* had all *3 articles,* german has... guess WHO changed it into 1 *"the"* ...yes _the church._ Dun let me start what the church did to our highest germanic goddess, using the coverUp names which germanics used for her, bc the church by death forbit to even speak out her true name *Frigg(a).* • So germanics used coverUp names, today known as: *Holle,* Holla, Hulda, *Hel,* Perchte/Perchta. *Hölle* ~ _Ho(e)lle_ & *Hell* ~ _Hel(l)_ *never* was teached nore in the Bible.* Over 5 centuries, christianity *had no concept* of Hölle/Hell. *Elderbush* & Holllunderbusch _(Holle + under + (the/dem) busch)_ The _Ælder/Æhne_ within Elderbush is *Frau Holle/Mother Hulda.* • It is HER magical plant. Every germanic longhouse had 1. Used to ask for her blessings & was greeted just walking by. It was *forbiten,* to even cut it! _Very ooold german sayso:_ • *"Mensch willst du aus dem Leben scheiden, so tue den Hollunder schneiden"* > Human do you want to leave/exit this life, so do cut the Elderberry. The words Holly & german Heilig are related to Holle/Hel/Hulda > *Hold* The Saxons lay down their dead people under or close by a Elderbush, so Holle/Hulda protected their souls from evil spirits, before reaching DOWN into HER realm • Bc she is *Mother Earth.* > The church demonized the highest germanic people, and made them hate their own goddess. _> That's the church..._ I stop here before i go on with Eastern beeing a stolen germanic fest *Ēostre* & lets not start with christmas beeing stolen, renamed from the orginal germanic fest: *Jul(e) fest,* which the church even tryed to change the germanic meaning, but failed here this time to hide their tracks.

Schmid/Schmidt/Schmitt and Meyer/Meier/Maier are the most common family names you can have in Germany. 😃A lot of people think that the Pennsylvanian Dutch referes to the Netherlands (dutch=netherlands) but it actually referes to the the word "deutsch" which means german. Deutsch - Deutschland 🤷‍♀ However the german and the dutch language is similar in many ways. Greetings from the North Sea in Germany 👋🌊

Well "Smith" as well as "Schmitt, or Schmidt" come from the time when many surnames were made by the profession someone had. At least it means "Blacksmith" by profession. In English speaking countries as well as in German speaking countries. So it does not say your name origins in Germany, it just tells us that one of your ancestors may has been a blacksmith or may have had relations to a blacksmith. It does not tell where this blacksmith came from, if the person immigrated to the US and from where, if they were born in the US or elsewhere. "Smith: Where does the name Smith come from? The surname Smith is one of the most common surnames in the world. It originally comes from the Old English term "smitan", which means "to forge". It was an occupational surname applied to people who practiced the profession of blacksmith. Smith is common in many countries around the world. The countries where the surname is most common include Great Britain, Australia, the USA, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand. The surname is particularly common in English-speaking countries. In the UK, Smith is the second most common surname. Over 3% of the entire population of the UK have the surname - over two and a half million people in total. It is one of the most popular surnames in the USA, where more than 2.5 million people have it. In Australia, Smith is also one of the most common surnames, with almost 1% of the total population having the surname. In most countries, the surname has a strong presence. But it is not equally widespread everywhere. In many European countries, a small minority bear the name. And in some countries it is even completely unknown - in Japan, for example, only a few people have the surname. It is interesting to see how the surname has spread around the world over the centuries." (source: www.igenea.com/de/nachnamen/s/smith)

Then also keep in mind that the English (excluding the Welsh, Irish and Scots) also have German heritage, as the Angles and Saxons raided and settled in modern day England. That means that a lot of the "British heritage" of the Americans is actually German heritage, too.

Don't panic. Chances are much higher that you are simply called Mister Smith from English origin. Although speaking of origin, Smith and Schmidt both have their origins in the Indo-Germanic language of the Celts.

Smith, Fisher and many other family names origin in professions, which have been the source for names since the earliest days. And the English and German language have common roots and many similarities. So if your name is Smith it can well be the true Englich Smith, not the German one. In German it would rather be spelled Schmidt or Schmitt. Btw, do you know that the US came really close to adopt German is its official language? There was a hot debate about that in the early 19th century. Finally they opted for English. But just imagine what it would be like today, if they had decided for German....

But don't get too exited: "Smith" sounds and looks much like "Schmidt". But it also has the exact same meaning in both languages (well, nearly. It would be Schmied. But there are a lot of variations. Schmitt, Schmied and Schmidt are the most frequent ones).

Of sure, a dont know why thats a big question, smit means Schmied, and thats the german roots, its a Schmied, a job like teacher or farmer, fischer (fisher) thats an origin of the profession, and this names are professions of the work. German roots and for thousends of years the germans, or barbariens, how the italies römer said, were an multi-ethnic "state", a lots of Fürstentums, with ppl from all over, so how now in the us states. -)

Take a DNA test with Ancestry. There you can see which ethnic groups are in your family tree. My mother is German and my father is African American. I don't know my father but I have Scottish and Irish ancestors that are not present in my mother. Maybe someone in your family was of German origin. Could be.

The Germans treated the slaves much better than the British and sometimes even symbolically adopted their slaves into their family. That's why many slaves at that time were given German names, even noble names. The reason for the Civil War for your 13th Amendment abolishing slavery is also thanks to the Germans. The British lived in the south and the Germans in the north wanted to abolish slavery. The United States Civil War is, strictly speaking, a war between England and Germany, and Germany won it. This abolished slavery. U can see this theme in the movie " Django"!ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0fUCuvNlOCg.html So u can understand maybe. Maybe ur Grandgrandgrandfather was a Slave for a german family and so ur name ist Schmidt now!So maybe your ancestors could even speak German because the family taught them.
