Hi, I have to say that it's The Ocean because, first of all, I love the drums & bass (my 2 favourite instruments), secondly, the passion & joy in Mr. Plant's voice & thirdly, the reason for that passion & joy, the subject of the song, his 3-year -old daughter. 🤟❤
Just to throw out something different: Bluebirds Over the Mountain and Rainbow became really meaningful to me in 2019. Those were the two albums I was listening to a lot as I finished my last semester of Bible college, and those two songs kind of captured the moment best. Impossible to say what my favorite Plant performance is, but those are the latest contenders.
Robert Plant along with the rest of the band Led Zeppelin are musical geniuses. There will never be another band like them. They are legendary. His solo career was fabulous too.
@@garybowlin7707 The Yardbirds were fantastic...but better? Seems more like opinion. I'm a huge Beck fan, too...he's my favorite, but I can't say who's best between the three. I think Page is the most creative.
IS fabulous! He and Allison are still cranking out fantastic music on their tour; "Rock and Roll" is incredible, with the blue grass fiddlers taking off and soaring towards heaven. I'm hoping for a version of "29 Palms" from the talented, timeless duo.
Robert Plant frequently mentions his African American musical influences and inspirations including: Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson Willie Dixon etc. And it's artists like Mr. Plant, along with Led Zeppelin bandmates Page, Bonham and Jones, and countless other British musicians including: david bowie, eric clapton, jack bruce, ginger baker, john mayall, the beatles, the stones, pink floyd, yes, elp, the kinks, eric burdon, cream, etc. who continued to acknowledge the African American musicians who inspired them and influenced them. Yay!!
It is what it is, If you came of age in the 70s or 80s in America, Led Zeppelin was the biggest band in the country, If you didn't get in on it, Thats your problem !
In his Prime noboby can compete with his vocal ability, range, dynamics and power. His vocals were like an added instrument to the push and pull of the music. In later years his range decreased but he always sang with such passion and conviction. He can sing you the phone book and make you weap. One of a kind Plant is
Robert Plant is a legend, and always will be. Jimmy Page is a beast on guitar. Led Zeppelin, what a great band. I give them credit for ending it after losing John. Jason did a fantastic job on Celebration Day, that whole concert is legendary.
How lucky are you? That is awesome. Hope you still have the concert stub! Seeing such an epic event changes your life in many ways! I just saw Jason Bonhams LED zeppelin evening in battle creek Saturday night 8-13-22. Absolutely amazing show. If you're a zeppelin fan, see this show if you can. Rock on!
I really loved the first album RP did with Alison Krauss and am looking forward to their newest collaboration. [I do need to mention, that as someone who sang with some high-level choirs for 30+ years, Ms. Krauss doesn’t seem to have very good breath control and I’m shocked that we can hear her deeply inhaled breaths, which is a result of her tightening her vocal cords.] She does have a lovely, lovely voice!
I think maybe those guys should leave the car keys back on the table and let someone else do the driving, maybe, woww, those are some sad losses, most of us would buckle under, I would, I think so. A very interesting story, and a very gifted guy, for sure.
All these videos are the same. Wrong dates, misleading information. Do some fact checking before you post. Jones never played in The Yardbirds, unless your referring to the one gig the did as The New Yardbirds. Plant's car crash was in '75 while on vacation and it was Page's daughter in the car. Lastly, his first choice for a singer was Steve Marriott.
Interesting back story; Terry Reid was Page's 1st choice to join the 'New Yardbirds' which later turned into Led Zeppelin. Reid was touring with Cream and the Stones at the time. It was Reid that introduced page to both Plant and Bonham. How good was Reid? Even Ritchie Blackmore wanted him to replace Rod Evans but he rejected that offer as well.
I'm completely the opposite of what my father wanted me to be professionally and politically also. The son of an engineer's life is full of frustration and self loathing.
The Kashmir song from no quarter wasn't at all with Indian influences. It was mainly Oriental, Egyptian to be specific. The rhythm section was an Egyptian percussionist, the Oriental violinists were all from Egypt, as for the Darabuka drum
For Plant to call himself "an entertainer" is hilariously and stupidly rhetorical, and likely a semi-conscious reaction-formation against peacock-ery, which itself isn't as objectionable as puffed up, vindictive critics like at Rolling Stone magazine trying to legislate all greats into little-man-&-meek sensibilities, a hoax far more pretentious than any rock star. Plant's ego was just fine: ego shot him to great heights, and depths which few could ever realize in life or art. Bing Crosby was an "entertainer;" the lyricist and yowler of Ramble On, Friends, Battle For The Evermore, The Rover, Ten Years Gone, Achilles Last Stand, well, he's an ARTIST, not an entertainer. Go listen to fuckin' Pat Boone or Barry Manilow if you want entertainment. Led Zeppelin is art by artists and only bitches blubbering ideology and shame-morals think otherwise. An FM hit song going over 4 minutes? Or a live version of Dazed going 29 minutes? The quibblers and be damned: too many artists are too sensitive to ASININE, sadistic and shallow tirades flung at them by "critics:" Clapton got stung in Cream by RS blob-blabbers, and listening to their bullshit that he "played too much guitar" Clappy left Cream and toned down for Blind Faith, purely wrong; Janis Joplin in Big Brother was hurt by RS claiming BB couldn't play their instruments, which was pure nonsense. Robert and Zeppy also were savaged by RS philistines, who were so puss-brained as to rate art by moral behavior, the feminist neurosis already starting its social disease spreading. Fuck them all, not that they deserve a fuck as how could a critic FEEL anything? ( my apologies to those brilliant and essential critics who do, you know who you are, like David Fricke). Led Zeppelin defines genius in late 20th century music. Robert don't ever worry about being Robert Plant: like Dionysus, you were a "Liberator and He-Who-Unties" for millions of girls and boys whom you taught to feel. The Rain Song shows young men and women what Love is supposed to feel like, for real. Not the boredom of Mr and Mrs Brady.
At 4:31 that's Scarlet Sabet, not Jimmy's daughter. That image needed (and still needs) to be replaced. Otherwise, quite a tragic, beautiful, and bittersweet life story at the same time of an amazing musical legend. Thanks for your work and keep it up! Rock on and all the best!
My dad met Robert Plant he’s a jerk he came into the bar. My dad worked in and ordered some beers so my dad gave him some change for a ten pound note then he said he gave my dad 20 witch is why I hate him
@@51502 What it is is the attempted erasure of the etiology of the sound. Now if you frame that as racist, that is your conclusion. So the "getting over" is on you.
Just a fun note.... when Zeppelin reunited they should have had drummer Dave Grohl play with them instead of Jason Bonham. Jason failed at doing his dad's signature Triplets which Grohl is able to do effortlessly.
Fool In the rain...Hot Dog...(In thru the Out Door) The Ocean (Houses of the Holy) Whole Lotta love 'duh' ... Zep ll. Everything on Physical Graffiti.... Nobody's fault but mine (Presence)....a couple more....Tall Cool One, Big Log, Pledge Pin....my favorites (sorry for so much)
Most of the "material" from Plant are covers written by someone else. Sorry but a Plant/Krauss bluegrass-sounding cover version of When the Levee Breaks from 50 years ago sounded ridiculous. A Zeppelin song should *not* sound bluegrass.
funny how the father didn't approve his musical career at first and then Robert started making millions out of no where when he was just 20 lol imagine that
Maureen in England and Ireland is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable, not the last. At 4:35 that's Jimmy Page's girlfriend Scarlett, not his daughter Scarlet.
At 1:07 that's Richard Cole with the beard by the window, who was one bad as"""s dude, and their main muscle for the 12 years Zep was together. If you like to read, his book is the best out of all the books on Zep, at least IMO.
Can't remember the year, I just know that nasa sent something like a cd with Led Zeppelin music and just different items from earth to see if like aliens 👽 or other people found it
The Original Chick Cloths Wearing Dude with a Moose Knockle! I Don't get the Nashville Hillbilly Move! A English Hillbilly? Wonder if he Eats Biscuits and Gravy yet! Or Says " Y'all Fixing to Play them There Banjo's" lol Gawd go from Led Zeppelin Frontman to singing about Losing your Wife, Dog, and your Favorite Back Door Pig! Moose Knuckle! Lmao! Got myself on that one! Lol, Have a wonderful day! Y'all...lol
WOW! No mention of his association with the occult, the "Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn" and the work of Aleister Crowley ???? No untold truth here then!
@@lyndoncmp5751 It's true, Page was the instigator but John Paul Jones was the only sceptic. The others band members went along with it. Plant's son died after Page failed to supply the agree 40 min of music for Anger's movie "Lucifer Rising". Anger cursed the whole of Led Zeppelin as Page had already performed ceremonies with Anger where he had sold the souls of ALL the band members in exchange for continued stardom. Page's initial pact with the Devil had a condition that all members use "sidils" that would appear on album covers and labels. Plant's sidil was the feather. Page's was Zoso. Also, that the band would use the fonts designed by Crowley. Thing is,.. for it not to be mentioned in a video called "untold truth of Robert Plant" is a poor show in my books.
@@jameshadfield5624 The music of Led Zep, Deep Purple, & Rainbow contains magic. A special type magic that sucks you in. Don't say it is not so.... you know this music is magical. It's designed to create "followers" and the people behind these bands all knew each other and shared this esoteric knowledge well before they found fame. It's cool to like this music... but don't think for one minute it is innocent. Be mindful, stay safe and remain guarded.
Dare I say I never liked him myself; I always thought he was the weakest link in Led Zep'; but I never liked them after their first 2 albums. Sorry if this causes offense to die hard Led Zep' fans.
Why are you here then? Their 4th and 6th albums are generally considered their best works. III and Houses of the Holy are also better than I. I guess you like more straightforward rock and blues not more eclectic, deeper and more sophisticated cuts like The Rain Song, Ten Years Gone etc. Ah well m
@@lyndoncmp5751 I never likes Robert Plant's screeching voice; to me Jimmy Page was the lynchpin of Led Zeppelin and I saw a recent image of him the other day and he's looking really old. And not being a Led Zep' anorak I never bothered to find out who played drums and bass; and Stairway to Heaven still makes me want to throw up. Pretentious a-holes.
