apparantly they are assholes, i was talking to an employee at A. Schwab and she told me that they were the most "aggresively annoying" people shes ever met. The owner told them multiple times that they did not want to deal with them, yet they kept coming back. Lo and behold Mike and Frank now have a Cease and Desist order on them for A. Schwab
well I used to work for that kind of business its just basic knowledge of antique and collectables. simple you got to know what people like they pass up a lot of good stuff.

I was the appraiser on the episode when Dave Hester returned to the series. He was quite friendly and nice to work with during filming, helped me, who had never done anything of the like before. He had an item which I had knowledge of and appraised and there was nothing out of the ordinary about that. He had dealt with people who the other fellow who I found to help with the appraisal, and was in the electronics surplus business, and my friend knew his brother. Long time Orange County junk dealers. It was really an amazing experience to have, glad to have done it with the show.

It has always been rigged, I have worked on and off in this industry for 15+ years. Most people store trash stuff and furniture and then pay 10 timeswhat the invested in the cheap furniture in storage fees and late fees. I have seen (real) abandoned units, and only 3 units in 15 years was there anything interesting and then it was just some decent furniture. If people are having financial problems and can not pay their storage they almost always, remove the valuable "crap" first. Most places would rather work with a customer than sell them, if you work with the customer then you stand to make MUCH more than what they sell for at auction. Besides all of those staged units are waaaaaay too clean, NOTHING that has been in storage for 6 months or more is clean... Oh and bidders do not dress like pimps or look like they walked off a poker tournament, they are dirty, sweaty and sometimes smell. They have been going from auction to auction all day digging through dirty units. (no offense to real auction buyers is meant by my statement)
+rigomortisfxstudios Well, especially on US reality TV, it's not about if it's fake or not but how fake it actually is. To be honest personally I was surprised that most of the bidders on the shows are actually storage hunters, flee market sellers, thrift shop owners and not just actors. Still it is a fun show for what it is but the amount of antics and rarities they find is ridiculous.
These people should feel like assholes for uploading this. In reality they're just dragging people through the mud who are far more successful than they are. Being on a cable TV show>having a RU-vid channel with less than a half million subs.

I worked in a retail store. We were fearured on a show, the products they brought us to appraise hadn't even been on the market long enough to go to auction in a storage locker. We gave them 2 prices, the msrp and what we'd buy them for. They edited the two together making it look like we offered to buy it at msrp(We wouldn't do that, we'd make no money). The producers probably got the products from the manufacturer for free to promote the product, all of it was new in the box.

I had a friend that went to these auctions and bought the smaller units. He figured that for every unit he bought he had at least one trip to the landfill of stuff that no one would buy. It's amazing that some people will pay a monthly fee for years to save what is basically junk. My friend had a driveway just full of used clothing, outdated electronics, old furniture and miscellaneous trash. He had garage sales in the summer to get rid of stuff. My friend said that he might have made about $1 an hour for all of the time he spent on this stuff.We used to laugh that we should rent a unit and fill it with empty TV boxes and partly broken tools and other boxes labeled gold, silver and jewelry and then not pay the bill so the owners could auction it off and then go to the auction to see the suckers drool over our unit. Sadly my friend died a while ago and it was up to his wife to get rid of all of that crap.
The prices that they say that they can sell something for is a JOKE!!! Where do these people come up with their prices. Some prices that they say that it will get is way over retail when the things were new.
Hester didn't do it because he was "concerned", he did it because he thought he was bigger than the show. He hasn't been anywhere near as much on the show since..
I used to watch Storage Wars but you see a few episodes and it gets old. And I couldn't help notice when they would go through the spaces they bought, and putting a value on their finds, it was like regular retail prices they were assigning.

I've been to real world storage auctions, believe me when I tell you it is nothing like this! Pretty boring and mostly junk. Think about it...if you got a couple hundred $1,000 of gold coins in your unit don't you think you would sell one to pay the rent?
First, people die. Second, people forget to pay the bill. Messy divorce perhaps, getting in the way. Third, you get the storage unit locked up before you either remember, and or have the funds to pay. I mean, shit, it's as easy as someone saying " I'm going to have the money! I know it! Just one more deal! I can't sell my coins!", then bam. So many ways for valuables to end up in storage, unclaimed.
I own a huge storage business and have been auctioning units for years, and can tell you, it is a rarity to find much of anything in an unpaid for storage unit. That said, I have seen some pretty good deals but nothing like what they show on Storage Wars.
I Had friends who owned storage units, and they check out every unit before it goes to auction for any noticeable big ticket items, which are removed before auction. I'm sure they all do this, cause who would ever know!
You know what's sad, I've actually been to Dave Hester's shop. It's not too far from where my grandmother and mom live since that's a common area of Costa Mesa actually. The real sad thing is that everything in their was overpriced. He wasn't there, but I think his dogs were in a caged off area of the store. I guess if your in Orange County, CA, then visit the location(s), but don't go expecting to pay low deals.
I was at a filming of Storage Wars Taxes and my buddy viewed them "loading the lockers with stuff", I didn't see it, but I believe him. The sad part was there was a couple that was there that believe the show was real and had quit their jobs to make it rich. These shows hurt people, because they claim to be real and they are not. They should come with a warning label.

BMW -Engines are now in all Mini's as they took over the whole company,and now a very popularlittle car yet again. The UK is packed with them and nice vehicles MINI is an institution of good motoring and seem to run really well with soft-tops to alsorts of Clubmans in 2018 ,now the must car on Eco & Costs £££££

+Hunter Chacon My brother had one rupture which almost killed him. Thankfully his wife was there in bed with him when it happened, and she rushed him to the hospital that was only a couple of blocks away. He said it felt like a sudden splitting migraine headache in one section of his head... Kind of like a knife slowly being stabbed into his skull he says. His was above the left ear towards the top of his head. He had a successful surgery as well thankfully.
of course some units had planted items in them..... how long would you watch a show where the only things found in the lockers were old mattresses and bags of clothes? its TV....

They claim they are "Re-in acting" actual confrontations, but this guy says it's all BS. He also said that Ashley is rarely in the store almost ONLY when the they are taping and riff between her and her brother is complete BS.

You can bet your ass everything filmed would have gone down a lot differently and probably more violently had the cameras not been there and there's probably a lot of footage we don't get to see because the cops were too rough.

+TELEVISIONARCHIVES Nawwww.... Anything that falls under game show laws is legit too. I'm not sure all of the shows that do, but I know "Survivor" for instance is one. If any show under those laws was staged or manipulated in any way it could result in criminal charges.
I don't pay any serious attention to Storage Wars, but noting all of the junk coming out of the many storage locker contents put up for auction makes me think of all the junk sitting in people's lockers, basements, attics, and garages, all over North America. Really scary when you think about it.
What amazes me about these storage units is that most of the stuff isn't worth anything, but people will continue to pay the monthly charges for years on end.Imagine paying for a storage unit to save your old sofa and your old washer and dryer for a year or two
The idea that the property owners and managers wouldn't have gone through the storage units to see it there wasn't anything they wanted, might be illegal, or unshowable due to graphic or obscene natures ran up a red flag. The last thing they would want it to pop in open front of a production crew and and find out it was someone's abandoned sex dungeon. The shows constant claims of sight unseen was complete bull and they were clearly salted units. Best case is these were consolidation units of stuff that was too much hassle to offload.

All of the Storage Wars cast seem to think they're fucking awesome geniuses because they purchase trash then go, "Yeah, I can get $25 for this. I don't even know what it is. This is why I like the original reality shows like Rescue 911, Unsolved Mysteries, these were the original based on true stores. Rescue 911 started in 1988 and Unsolved Mysteries started in fall of 1987 These are the real reality shows
A friend of mine did this for awhile. He figured he made about $.25 an hour for his time. He had at least one trip to the dump for every unit he bought. He had more used clothes in his driveway than a thrift store. The only times he made decent money was when he bought a unit that was owned by an electrician and when he found some vintage comic books. The rest of the stuff was obsolete, outdated and someone's forgotten trash.He made more money picking up free stuff on Craigslist and then reselling it.
