I still remember the first time I saw this movie. My friend was so excited to show it to me, but when the movie opened, I turned to him and asked, “Is that Kevin Spacey? It sounds like Kevin Spacey. Is Kevin Spacey the bad guy?” He stared at me for a few seconds and said, “I should just turn this off right now.” He was crushed. 😂

When you watch this movie a second time you can see Kevin spacy thinking up his story, and looking at the coffee cup and stuff. I worked on a film set in Montana in 2021, the lead actor was Gabriel Byrne, the guy who played Keaton. Heat (1995) is another really good one. It's a crime movie with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, both of them from The Godfather. In this, one's a cop, one's a bank robber. They only interact a couple of times in the movie and they are epic moments.
@philmullineaux5405
@philmullineaux5405 Месяц назад
Pro tip, he told the cop, who kaiser soze was, when talking about his old days in turkey. Explaining who kaiser soze was. He tells him some info no one could know. He tells the cop, he's supposed to be half German half Hungarian. It's in his name. Kaiser is German for leader or God. Soze is Hungarian for the same thing. He was also in the film American beauty, and Horrible bosses 1 and 2, with Jennifer Anniston! But in this movie here, it doesn't matter how much of his story is true, or fake. Because he's telling the whole thing, from his point of view, which is never a complete picture full truth anyway. He just made up things, he wanted to.
@toro5280
@toro5280 Месяц назад
You are basically correct except for the meaning of his name. Kaiser means "emperor" in german and söze means "his word" in hungarian. So I guess he wanted it to mean something like "emperor of his words". Kint's nickname is "verbal" which means "relating to or in the form of words". I assume by choosing this moniker "the Emperor of his words" he sees himself as the Father of lies, the Master of deception - the devil. Which connects perfectly to him talking about the devil's greatest trick, or how do you shoot the devil, calling Söze the devil. And just like that, he's gone.

From the outset the clues that Verbal was Keyser were all there. He was the only one not arrested (he walked into the line up), The immunity (well spotted), and Keyser was one step ahead of the group at all times (inside information?), he was the only survivor of a suicide mission? and other more subtle clues (including visual clues within the film). Best to leave you to find them all with multiple watches. I often wonder how hard it would be to be undercover within the group as a cripple, without breaking cover. It was fun to watch you going through the emotions, especially in the reveal. I remember my first viewing feeling conflicted by the story being told. At one point telling myself that Verbal was Keyser and then dismissing it. I have watched this many times since then. The writing is a great piece of misdirection in that the clues are all there. The directing and editing are masterful, and the acting superb. The reveal on a par with "The Sixth Sense", this film is among my favorites for pure story telling. A joy to watch you watching then. Hoping you and yours are, and remain very well.

Incredible reaction guys! Your faces at the end were amazing. Back when it came out we all reacted like that and then kept the Keyser Soze secret. It was such an iconic cultural moment and so cool to be a part of. I'm just really thankful the internet didn't exist back then😂

An absolutely fabulous caste of some of the best character actors of their generation. Give them a top notch script and witty dialogue and you have a movie for the generations. People will still watch this decades from now, along with The Maltese Falcon as examples of great casting. ✌️

The movie Primal Fear is one of those films , that is just as good as the book that it was adapted from. Edward Norton was full on creepy as Aaron Stampler. Before i saw this film i wasnt a fan of Richard Gere , but boy his performance as Martin Vail was magnificent

If there was ever a movie to watch again to see all the clues it's this one. Since you like fantasy a younger Gabriel Byrne played Uther Pendragon in the best rendition of the tale of King Arthur (Excalibur) also with a young Helen Mirran, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart (who looks immortally the same)

A "fence" in criminal slang is someone who buys stolen goods from thieves because he has ways to sell them on legitimately. Naturally, he takes a margin between what he pays for the good and what he sells them for. It can also be used as a verb, e.g. "Fred's going to fence the stuff for us".

4:09 - That's actor Kevin Pollak, Jay. He was in the film "A Few Good Men" alongside Tom Cruise, and Demi Moore (which I believe you guys reacts to before). The other "usual suspects are: Benicio Del Toro from the film, Sicario. (He also plays 'The Collector" from The Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Infinity War. Also He is "DJ" in Star Wars Episode VIII, The Last Jedi). Gabriel Byrne from the film, Enemy of the State (which also stars Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Lisa Bonet, and Jon Voight). He's also in "Excalibur" (great film). Stephen Baldwin (one of the famous "Baldwin Brothers") from the movie, Posse (which also stars Mario Van Peebles, Blair Underwood, Pam Grier, Isaac Hayes, Big Daddy Kane, Tom 'Tiny' Lister, and Salli Richardson). And obviously Kevin Spacey, that you two already know from Se7en.
