None of the rest of the main characters did anything that wasn't understandable or reasonable for example, Stefan killed his own father when he was in transition for the first time understandable and he apparently was abusive so it makes it less horrible for some people and he was a ripper something he couldn't really control because the bloodlust was that hard for him and his emotions were turned off I could go on forever about things Damon did just to be a dick. Snapping Jeremy's kneck because Elena didn't return his feelings for example what the hell? How is that excusable? None of the characters are entirely blameless or have clean hands they've all killed but Damon can't be compared to them at all and the worst part is how he tried to blame Katherine for everything he did like turning Vicky. If Elena had dropped him and choose Stefan the way Katherine had I'm sure he'd blame Elena for everything he ever did after meeting her too. Karan Patel it was probably the shock of seeing her, she looked like the woman he loved, the one he was back in town to find. Once he got over the fact they aren’t the same person, he adjusted and treated her like everyone else. Even Stefan admitted to watching her, following her around etc to make sure she wasn’t Katherine before officially meeting her.

Stefan was fixated on fixing her as soon as he found out she had feelings for Damon which goes against the whole Stefan "respects" Elena's choices BS, created this false image of being a human 17 yr old boy when he met Elena in the hallway and was not going to tell her he was a century old vamp who compelled his way into a high school to organize some faux meeting after months spent on stalking Elena and her family's back story. At least Elena knew and fell in love with the REAL Damon....She didn't have to lie to herself to make HIM feel better as she so often did with Stefan..She told him how she really felt and they addressed their respective issues....Elena and Damon knew the good and bad sides of each other, there was no pretending it was real and that is what Elena wanted. How can they possibly be the worse versions of themselves together when Elena makes Damon better and Damon makes Elena happy? The girl is happily married and successful in the medical field with children of her own now...I doubt her supposed future with Stefan would result in anything close to that.

I like season 1 of Stelena best, season 2 is good, season 3 terrible, season 4 is complete horse shit, season 5 is Oh my fucking god Stefan move on already, and EVENTUALLY he did, falling in love with Caroline, Now, every season is good for Steroline. My reasons for this is because in season 3, when she chose Stefan it was crap, she didn’t love Stefan anymore, sure she cared about him but was in love with Damon. When she kissed Damon on the doorway or when they made out at the motel, was just pure proof, she wasn’t doing any of the stuff with Stefan until the final episode of season 3! She was over Stefan when she started to fall for Damon, she was just deluded to the fact that she shouldn’t be with Damon by Caroline and the rest of her friends, just watch some scenes like “its Stefan’s turn” after she made out with his brother, she should of listened to herself, she shouldn’t of went to the party with Stefan, not even with Damon, not until she had accepted that Damon was who she wanted. It wasn’t between which one to pick, it was who I should be with, and who I want to be with. This was why she chose Stefan, but when she became a vampire, those already strong feelings became much stronger, making them impossible to resist, can’t blame her. She should of been more honest about it, if she had, she may not of had to chose on the bridge, and she wouldn’t of become a vampire, but who are we kidding, practically all of her friends are supernatural, part from busboy but still, that increases the risk of becoming just that, supernatural by a incredibly significant amount. But even if it still played out that way she should of chose Damon on that bridge. If it had been Stefan’s blood in her system, not Damons, she wouldn’t of been sired to Stefan. And when Stefan and Caroline kept telling her that her feelings weren’t real, and that in the final episode he said he would go back to her in a heartbeat, even though he already said to Damon that it was over, when they danced while Elena’s humanity was of and was trying to seduce her?! It so fucking pissed me off, I mean seriously Stefan, LET GO. Anyways, I had to get that outa my system. I hated Stefan this season, I mean seriously seriously hated him and Caroline, Bonnie was more open to it so that’s fine and Caroline season 5 was pretty bad to. As I said, she still cared about Stefan but did not truly love him back.Yes, the sire bond did help her discover the truth, but even if it didn’t happen, she would of still ended with Damon, Delena Has been GREAT all seasons, so has steroline. Yes, they are often written as fate…because that’s an easy way to retcon a couple as endgame and undo what came before. Julie Plec has said that she tried to turn the fans against Delena for the first 2 seasons and gave up after that, hence the “fate” stuff in season 3. That said, the notion that Elena was somehow not in love with Stefan and that her heart was with Damon here is ludicrous.

Damon never leaves. His blood in her system in 3x22, his compulsion in her memory in 4x1, and he chooses to stay in town despite her choice. Elena was terrified of losing Stefan's friendship, and Stefan didn't make it easier for her. He actually kissed her after she tried to break up with him. "Just in case there is no later." His comment had nothing to do with risk of death and every bit to do with him knowing they were over. He had to kiss her before she moved on with Damon.

As I tell other fans, this is how Stefan and Caroline continued to confuse her. Both times Caroline found out she kissed Damon, she was pushing Elena to go out with Stefan. While she's sorting out her feelings and trying to make a decision, Stefan should be giving her the same space. I knew he would do this the moment he talked Damon into letting him stay behind with Elena. It was like his last ditch effort to get her back.

Jeremy told Stefan that he and Matt were getting Elena out of town. When she tells him why she was on the bridge in 4x1, he knew she already crossed that bridge on her way out of town, and he never once questions her driving to Damon. Stefan's ego is so big, he doesn't consider Elena wanting to say goodbye to Tyler and Caroline, only wanting to say goodbye to him.

I knew the moment I saw 3x22 that Damon and Elena would end up together in season 4, I just didn't know which episode. The moment I saw Damon save her on the bridge in 4x6, I knew Stefan and Elena were over. They ran it full circle on the bridge, then had Damon put her daylight ring back on her finger. "Forever" was his.

It's the opposite? Stefan meets Katherine first, take an interest in her, falled in love with her and Damon gets in the picture. The same with Stefan and Elenas relationship. Damon always ruins Stefans happines.

He needed those things to bring back Katherine as he stated in season 1. All he ever wanted since becoming a vampire was Katherine Katherine Katherine and also he wanted to get Katherine out and kill everyone in the town for revenge because of what they did to the vampires in 1964.

The truth is yes, Damon spent a while obsessed with Katherine, but then he realized that there was this whole other person who was caring and selfless that started caring for him as a friend and then fell in love with him. I don't believe Stefan forgot Katherine just like that, I believe there are similar things to both stories and that they fell for her (Elena) in different parts of the story.

And the way Elena and Damon pushed Katherine to Silas to feed him her blood. Where's all her humanity gone? And how she killed Kol who was warning them against Silas? I mean seriously Kol is a 1000 year old original vampire. Do you think a man with such an experience would be wrong about something that is so serious? And how she wanted to go with Damon when they were planning to save Stefan! Didn't she realize what a burden she was being at that time? I mean an extra soul had to pass through Bonnie causing her immense pain... The list of Elena's dumbness is just unending.

They were going to break up regardless...One because she already had growing feelings for Damon she could no longer push off to the side and two Stefan and Elena were at different points in their lives...Elena was a vampire which is something Stefan could not accept he was fixated on the human version of Elena and went to desperate measures to achieve that which had him keeping secrets from both Damon and Elena while secretly working with Klaus to turn Jeremy into a crazy vampire hunter to complete his mark. The sire bond had nothing to do with Elena's feelings...Her feelings were authentic and were only formed due to her human feelings canon obviously states a vampire only bonds to her sire if she has feelings for him BEFORE she turns HUMAN feelings vampirism only heightens what was already there. Damon never took advantage of the sire bond so Elena coming to him was of her freewill....Damon didn't ask Elena to be with him and the bond was clearly broken when she chose him in 4x23. Damon got the ADULT version of Elena who still loved and protected those she loved but was happy and content with herself...She was no longer the sad and insecure girl easy to manipulate while with Stefan...She GREW up, was happy and secure with who she was if that makes her selfish than so be it lmao
