Caroline was still trying to play the role of helpful surrogate mother to her friend who just lost the love of his life and thought he’d lost these two babies. Though we can tell Caroline loves them already and how couldn’t see? She literally carried, grew and delivered them
Lizzie and Josie being born is one of the happiest and positive moments in this show. We’re all so used to everyone dying, so seeing two little lives being born really was emotional from tvd.
Lizzie Josie and Hope are some of my favorite characters but Lizzie and Josie feel so special because we watched Caroline from the beginning, and we knew how much Ric wanted a family, and we loved and mourned Jo’s death so they really felt like miracles in so many ways
@@Rev4mpz No it doesn't. What doesn't make ANY SENSE, is that Lizzie and Josie COULD be saved. Not with the way they ended season 6. There are three reasons why the writers half-assed explanation doesn't work. 1 How did the Gemini even know Jo was pregnant, let alone carrying twins? Jo and Ric only learned that themselves in the episode before her death and they specifically wanted to keep it from the coven. They didn't want the Gemini taking the girls away from them. You could make the argument, that they could magically sense the pregnancy, but even that should be ESTABLISHED for it to work. They actually had the perfect opportunity for that in the scene where Jo talks to her father before the wedding. One lingering glance down at her stomach would have been enough. They wasted it. 2. The way they killed Jo. Kai killed Jo by stabbing her literally through the stomach MULTIPLE times. You can actually see the tip of the blade peaking out of her stomach and the blood stains on the front of her dress are further proof. You are right, it makes a twisted sort of sense for him to do his this way. He wanted to ensure Jo and the babies were really dead. How the hell are two unborn kids supposed to survive that? ESPECIALLY because the crappy nonsensical pregnancy-transfer only happened AFTER that. If that should have made even the slightest bit of sense, he should have slit her throat or stabbed her in the heart. Basically ANYTHING but stab her through the stomach. To me, Lizzie and Josie could have only survived what we were shown if the pregnancy was transfered beforehand and they DIDN'T! Why would they? As far as anyone knew, Kai was locked in a 1903 prison-world. 3. Gemini die with their leader. This is the biggie. The most prominent thing established about the Gemini is the life-link between the coven and their leader. If the leader dies, so do the others. In the season 6 finale Kai killed himself to turn into a heretic. He came back because of the vampire blood in his system and Joshua, Liv and the rest (as far as we knew back then) died. All fine and dandy, the established rules have been honored. The reveal of Caroline's pregnancy is a GIANT slap in the face of the established material. The girls ARE Gemini, being carried via surrogacy and cloaked doesn't change that. There is the possibillity of them only getting linked to their leader after their birth, but how could Kai - and appaerently ONLY Kai (Jo herself thought it was food poisoning at the time) - sense his sister's pregnancy then?
It was really nice of ric, naming lizzie after liz, because caroline may not be their biological mother, but she still carried them for 9 months, and loved them like no other 🥺
The fact that the producers wrote in Candice King’s pregnancy into the script was awesome and considerate. There was no hide and seek when it came to Candace’ s pregnancy on set. Similar situations happened on Grey’s Anatomy, too.

There’s a lot of emotional scenes from this series but this one did it for me. From Damon finding out he didn’t kill Elena, to Stefan getting the sword slashed through his chest, to Alaric finally getting what he wanted.
The first ever time Caroline life has changed 💓 she’s such a great mother. To think of the previous Caroline in the beginning she would shun away the twins in a heartbeat but just look how much that she changed and her 😭she looks so happy 🥺
@@bluebubble229 I wouldn't have either, since they're technically not hers. I'm pretty sure she was staying to raise them anyway, I think Alaric naming Lizzie was what sealed the deal. The love she felt in that moment must've been surreal.
Caroline is a great mom . Once she seen them her whole mindset changed and she knew she couldn't walk away from them and she loved them unconditionally . I love love loved her growth

They should defo do a time travel episode where a monster travels back in time to kill alaric, Jo, Caroline, hayley and klaus. To stop the twins and hope from existing. So them three has to follow the monster and stop him from killing them
My beloved mom passed away in Jan 5th, 2021 and was in a coma since Nov 2018. Her name is Mercy. I was 5 months pregnant and found out I was having a boy. I couldn't name him after her but if I have another baby and she's a girl she will be named Esy (my mom's nickname) after my mommie.
I need someone's help! I remember a scene with Caroline and the twins but I cant remember which episode it was and I can't find it! It was a scene with Caroline early on helping with the twins but since she's the only mother figure there the twins call her mom for the first time and she says something like "oh im not your mom" but then lets them call her that. Am I imagining this scene or is from a different show? I'm so confused!
And Klaus was in the tunnels with Tunde's blade in his chest😥 Ugghhh...I HATE Julie Plec. I wish Caroline had conceived Klaus' child(ren) not alaric's. This angle was way too awkward. Like conceiving the kids of her mother's generation. Now look at these kids and Hope. How powerful had they been being born as Hybrids...
Caroline can't conceive Klaus children cause she's a vampire and they can't get pregnant cause they are dead. Besides conceiving his kids would be like conceiving kids of her grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-mothers generation, if we go by your logic 😂
Alaric was younger than Sherriff Forbes. Canonically he was a little older than Jenna who was a grad student so probably late late twenties early 30’s by season 1. By legacies Alaric is suppose to be in his fifties. But Caroline didn’t even conceive the twins, Alaric and Jo did when they had sex and made them. Caroline was implanted magically with two already conceived fetuses and simply performed the part of letting the twins grow inside of her until they were ready to be born.
no i’m glad hayley was the one who klaus child it shows how amazing klaus and hayley are and what they’ll do just move some hope is their daughter and caroline couldn’t have his kid. and plus hope is a tribrid not hybrid and what’s sad is he was in the tunnel and he couldn’t see hope who cares about caroline all klaus wanted was hope and all hope wanted was her dad if y’all love klaroline so much i rather have hope away from him and all that
Season 7 and 8 were the hardest on me everything just broke down at first it was ok Caroline was doing what Elena asked her to to look after everyone but then after the heretics Damon couldn’t live without Elena so he put himself in a casket right beside her Jeremy and Tyler were off hunting or helping wolves Matt was the only one to stay in mystic falls looking after the town keeping it safe Caroline and ric went off and were raising there girls Stefan lost Caroline his epic love and was with that one heretic he knocked up back in 1860 whatever and Enzo was hellbent on keeping bon bon safe they were divided something that wouldn’t have happened had Elena been there
After season 6 everything turned upside down. Sometimes I felt as if I was watching another show after Nina left nothing was the same and for me the show got worse. I didn’t like it, like that and I just kept watching because of Stefan. The friends splitted up everyone was minding their own business they didn’t team up like they used to.In the 3 first seasons of the show the producers did an absolutely great job but then they went down the hill.
@@helinubed5740 I think the show was ok until the end of season 6 when Nina chose to leave I meant there were some funny episodes when Damon was stuck in the crystal and kept dreaming of 1864 when he was in the confederacy and was getting frustrated when Stefan told lily that she took the town and his house but he will be damned if she touches his car but they got so divided they weren’t like a family anymore like the first 5 to 6 seasons and then when they brought in Sybil you could see how broke Damon was without Elena and then I do think they had a good ending but I would have liked to at least see Damon and Elena married just so we could have that
I do have a question maybe another fan could help me with. As we know vampires are infertile, Caroline only became pregnant because her body was able to host the twins (which were not conceived by her) but what if Caroline was pregnant when she was turned? Would she continue her pregnancy or would it just terminate?
