Oh yeah, I created a character along these lines myself. (I like creating "thematic" characters sometimes.) Never got super far with him. (I'm a bit of an ADHD gamer at times & end up just creating a "brand new" character for some idea I came up with.)
So funny! I've been of the opinion for a long time that the most powerful parties in Origins include three mages- never tried three blood mages, though! LOL! This was brilliant- thanks for sharing! OMG poor Oghren!
I think you can somewhat animate this build as a trilogy build with emphasis on Walking Bomb and Blood Control ability. Of course in DAI you barely have any skills that similar to Animate Death or Blood Control but you can somewhat use a Spirit Mark to create your spirit summon similar to Animate Death in Origin. In DA2, it can be a build that emphasis on Blood Mage, Spirit and Entropy skill tree and you can role play as a dark mage or something like that. Probably something that really difficult to pull it off but I thinks it’s a doable build IMO 👍
Yes, I believe I also showed that in the video. For role-play though I think a human meat sack is perfect. :) There is a glitch though I think on Xbox that will de-spawn your undead if you summon a Ranger pet.
I actually did a run like this many years ago... (I just comented in another video about me doing a solo nightmare with ranger duelist archer). But as a secon speciallysation i went with the spirit healer. Heal your tank while you are sucking him dry (nasty girls xD) and i was like "a necromancer must use hex, spirits and corpses... And blood". I also made a paladin mage run- arcane warrior and spirit healer... Maybe i will do a dreadlord run- arcane warrior and bloodmage with all the spirit and necromancer and "evil spells" like miasma, and undeads.
I have always shied away from drinking my companions' blood as a Blood Mage (I literally exit Blood Magic and drink a normal health poultice and then re-Blood Magic after the cooldown lol) because I feel too bad for using my companions like that lol but after watching this...
I was wondering if you could make a Build guide for companions? Like with AI settings and build recommendations for characters like Alistair and Morrigan?
@@AKisHerceg thank you! thank you! thank you! I honestly think you're Golden Warrior build would be a fine build for Alister heck even something like the Vampiric Blood necromancer could work for Morrigan. But I'm interested in seeing how you build these characters.
This looks like such a fun build for a more darker playthrough. Just one question: wouldn't the Blood Gorged Amulet from the Stone Prisoner DLC be better for our mage? It would allow us to invest more stat points into Magic for even more damage.
@@AKisHerceg Question: if one wanted to only use 1 "Vampiric" Necromancer, what would be a decent party? The "meat" I imagine would be fairly obvious, but I like the idea of the Warden being the solo Blood Mage, like they are hoarding the power to themselves. I think Alistair or Oghren as the "meat", maybe Leliana as a Ranger for additional sources of blood, but I am torn as to the final member.
This is pretty cool. Do you have any videos showing good AI tactics for blood mages, not just this build but blood mages in general? I am curious how to effectively set up the switching between modes while ensuring AI-controlled companions don't kill themselves. I am currently trying to come up with new ways to build Velanna- maybe Keeper/Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage, with the idea of using Blood Wound to draw aggro so enemies will charge into her One With Nature zone and get massacred. Or something. LOL.
That is already a very good idea. Keeper gives good health regen which is not affected by the healing penalty of BM. Maybe this can work(haven't tested it but sounds good on paper, so you can give it a try): Self - Any - Activate Combat Magic Self - Any - Activate - Rock Armor Self - Any - Activate Haste Self - Any - Activate Arcane Shield Self - Mana - Less than 50% - Activate Blood Magic Self - Surrounded by 2 or more enemies - Activate One with Nature Enemy - Rank - Elite or Higher - Affliction Hex Enemy - Uses attacking type - Magic - Mana Clash Enemy - Nearest Visible - Blood Wound Self - Health - Less than 50% - Activate Blood Sacrifice Self - Surrounded by at least 3 enemies - Activate Thornblades Self - Surrounded by at least 4 enemies - Activate Nature's Vengence In addition to these, just try to place as many aggro generating spells on her to do list as possible.
@@AKisHerceg Thank you! There are some good ideas here. I have been playing around with her for a bit, now, reloading before a battle and trying out different things, and am leaning toward using her health level (rather than mana level) to determine when she turns blood magic on and off. This is what I have currently: 1. Self: Any - Activate Rock Armor 2. Self: Any- Activate Arcane Shield 3. Self: Any- Activate Combat Magic 4. Self: Health>=75% - Activate Blood Magic 5. Enemy: Nearest visible - Blood Wound 6. Self: Health
There are only 6 skills(2 for each class), so I don't think I can make a full video about them. So if you have any question about them, let me know! :)
@@mauricewilks1974 They have different uses depending on your class. Warriors have Blood Thirst and Blood Fury. Blood Thirst will improve your critical chance and boosts your attack and movement speed. It also drains your health continuously. Blood Fury is basically an aoe knockback ability. Rogues have Dark Passage and Tainted Blood. Dark Passage is a passive skill that makes you move much faster when you are in Stealth and it also give +5% dodge. Tainted Blade is a sustainable ability. It will drain your health continuously, but it will improve your damage massively based on your Cunning attribute. Finally we have the Mages, with Dark Sustenance and Bloody Grasp. Dark Sustenance will take away some of your health and in exchange it will give you some mana. Bloody Grasp is a simple spirit damage spell, that works on everything, but if you use it against darkspawn, they will also take over-time damage for a shot time.
You can have that but not with a single character. Mages can't be Rangers. So you would have to get a Blood Mage and a rogue who is a Ranger to have both.
@@rexcalibur3939 Wow! That is amazing! It makes me very happy when people go back to the game just to try out a build I made because they think it looks good. I really hope you will have lots of fun with it! :)
Jesus, Rangers, who decimate the enemys, blood mages who massacre the battlefield. In origins and inquisition you showed that rouges can be overpowered, The same in origins, So I'm thinking here, Can warriors(origins) do the same. Like reaver tree have self heal, but can all the party members use it to be alive, Templar tree for killing the mages, but you also have the champion rally buff. but in inquisition all I found out is that you can only increase armor to protect yourself. I am slowly starting to think that warrior is the worst class and only works as a meatsheild if not equipped with one tank and dual wield team and maybe and archer (only in origins) What about dragon age II? I never saw any OP build from this game on your chanel :D
Well, Warriors are certainly nerfed when it comes to damage, because this is the only way they can be balanced, since they have the best overall survivability. Origins is unique in the sense that Warriors can actually outperform rogues in terms of damage. You need to go with the Dual Weapon approach to achieve this, which is only available in Origins, sadly. A Dual Weapon Reaver/Berserker/Spirit Warrior can only be matched by a full dex rogue with the Accuracy archery sustainable skill in terms of damage. Dual Weapon warriors were removed from the second and third game, so the damage dealer approach was basically non-existent after that. I am currently making a video about why this class should come back in DA4. :) In DA2 and DAI, warriors indeed got nerfed to only 2 possible class: Weapon and Shield and Two-Handed. W&S is a tank and TH is more of a crowd control character, although it can deal some decent damage. I think you are right in the sense that the devs in the later games really intended warriors as meat shields and they removed most of the options for possible spike damage. The Reaver and the Champion can still dish out nice damage, but rogues are the obvious damagers now. This could be because the devs wanted a clear a and simple divide between classes(warrior -tank, rogue - damage, mage - crowd contol), but I think it actually made the classes a bit worse. They are less versatile and less fun. Luckily with the Specializations you can still break through this division: for example a mage can be a great tank as a Knight-Enchanter or a Warrior can be a great damager as a Reaver. DA2 is different in the sense that it is kinda broken. Nightmare is super difficult(and it still has the non-removable friendly fire, which is even more dangerous than the enemies), so the division between classes is even worse. Unless you are going with a very specific build that exploits this and that, you can't even really solo as a warrior. At least not without breaking something... DA2 has some specs that are super broken and they eat nightmare for breakfast, but you still need to exploit the game's weaknesses because the enemies are stupidly overpowered. For example: the Decoying Assassin Rogue. I can't even tell you how many times I saw on RU-vid that people glitch the Arishok out with Decoy, then keep doing the spike damage on him(hiding behind a pillar) while he focuses on the Decoy. Is this overpowered? Yes. It this fun? Waiting for your nuke ability to cool down while the boss is glitched? In my opinion, no, not really... DA2 is filled with stuff like this because the game is broken and not well balanced. I do make builds on DA2, but they take time because they are part of my Trilogy Builds series. I focus more on roleplay there, instead of op builds though, but they still come out as fun builds capable of finishing the game on Nightmare. :)
@@AKisHerceg thanks for your long answer 😁 Cannot wait for the other builds then. But still your champion avenger build gives me hope that as a warrior you can solo everything 😁
DW warriors are pretty good. Dual Striking with large weapon in offhand and dagger in main + Haste or the power of blood talent ( tainted blade? ) + Momentum + Precision Striking works well. can wear massive armour, tank a bit better than cun rogue and you get berserker
Well, that sucks. I really don't get it why though. Limitations of the console? I noticed that a bunch of things are different on consoles by the way. Some are better for console users(archery for example is much more powerful on console because the consoles do not have the "arrow release delay" thing and most of the equipment have better bonuses as well)but obviously this one makes this build worse on consoles.
@@AKisHerceg you can still make some wicked builds on console. But seeing this undead army of yours was insane. If I could do that on console, i would feel like a god.
