Today I visited the Varsity, and iconic fast-food restaurant in Atlanta Georgia. It's the only place I know where you can order a "naked dog" and not get in trouble...

Love the varsity . It's a tradition for me on every Atlanta visit . Which reminds me I need to figure out if I'm going to do dragon con this year

Ahh the varisty.. A fond memory of me and my Dad was made at this place.. We had to visit Atlanta to pickup stuff Dad used to do whatever (was to young to remember exactly) but we stopped off at the Varisity to get lunch on one day when he took me with him. I had a hot dog or whatever with fries, and a Frosted Orange. Let me tell you, those things are delicious. However like 11 year old me hadnt yet put together the cause of a brain freeze... so me and dad are eating and I'm diggin the FO, and I get a brain freeze. It hurt pretty bad! So bad in fact, I asked my dad in much distress "Has anyone ever died from one of these!?" to which he laughed extremely hard at, and made sure it became a much remembered term of endearment in our family. Ahh, the good old days of the late 80's :)

We stayed a night in Atlanta so of course we came here. Problem was my wife ordered a burger and my teenage son ordered a salad. Huh? I ate 6 chili dogs. They were terrific.

There's a secret tunnel that goes from the varsity parking lot (close to the olympic flame) under the interstate that brings you out beside Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd stadium.

The Varsity was great when I was young. No combos, no salads, no standing there saying "ummmm" while you ordered. There was a gentleman that worked there over fifty years on the main line. Before you could get the words out of your mouth, he would have your order in front of you!! Now, it is slow and waaaaayyyyy too expensive. When something gets trendy and cool, it goes to heck! The old regime knew how to serve great food fast and affordable.

Every since I was a child every time we traveled from the southside to downtown we stopped here because it's the Atlanta thing to do I love my city these cali kids don't know look at the price very very reasonable a damn half done hot dog here is 5.99 on the street a fully loaded slaw dawg with the strings is no more than 4.50 give or take I'm black and I miss the south for these reasons

Nice well done video once again from you Greg. Really enjoyed watching this one, those dogs looked so good. Great information on the varsity. I have wanted to go there for some time but have yet to get there. Maybe a road trip one day.
