I love this song and it's very deep. Even the video has meaning. His walk is a representation of the path of life, the people he encounters are the people and events that we encounter through our lives. The guy with the fridge on a dolly is like a big life altering event that was narrowly avoided. The people he bumped into are the little speed bumps that help shape our lives. The girl in the car is a bad relationship, the car is the large event that he was able to cross and move on from but she didn't move on as easily and followed representing how a love can effect your life long term even after it's ended. The lady he knocked down was like an encounter where he hurt someone else's life in some way and he was recognizing that but still life continues without looking back. The girl that checked him out was like a perfect fling that came and went and left only a fond memory. The car that actually made him pause was a major life event that held him in place for a while, maybe good maybe bad but significant enough to make his life take pause but in the end it too did pass and life continued as always. And the end when the other four followed with him is like the people in your life who are there for the long haul whoever they may be they stick with you till the end while still living their lives respectively. I've commented this on every reaction to this song I've watched, I copy and paste it because it's the best way I can describe it. Just wanted full clarity.

The lead singer, Richard Ashcroft is one of the most influential & respected songs writers the UK has ever produced ❤ this song is from the album Urban Hymns. He has several solo albums too ❤️

I read somewhere that the music video with him bumping into people is supposed to represent him being in his mold, not wanting to change and the people getting in his way that he’s bumping into are supposed to represent the people in our lives, trying to make us change to fit them.

One of the greatest British Bands . Saw them live in the 90's Such a charismatic man. I gave birth to my daughter to "catching the butterfly" . Check out A Northern Soul, History and Slide Away. Oasis wrote a song about Ricard Ashcroft called Cast No Shadow.

In the video he's moving forward most of the people he is bumping into are not paying attention. Instead of accommodating there lack of awareness he's just plows through them then letting them interrupt his course, or his life. He walks over the car because it is stopped out in his path blocking the sidewalk but he stops for the car on the street if hadn't that would of threatened his life. The actions he takes make me think he is very aware of who he is, what he is doing, an where he is going. Life is a bittersweet symphony that is live. Life is short you shouldn't slow down for anything.

One of the main bands in the Britpop movement of the 1990s - "Lucky Man" is another great song of theirs. If you want to hear more 90s Britpop, try Oasis ("Champagne Supernova", "Wonderwall"), Pulp ("Common People"), and Blur ("Parklife"). The violins were from an album of orchestral versions of Rolling Stones songs - and the Verve got heavily sued. It's only in the last year or so that they've seen any royalties for this song. The video is a representation of a person's journey through life and all the life events that deflect him and affect him. And yeah, he's saying he can't change the pattern of his life. Deep lyrics.

Not Beethoven.. it’s a sample from an orchestral production of a Rolling Stone song. In fact The Rolling Stones sued and I think won and made almost all the money this song generated
@terrycullen3302
@terrycullen3302 3 года назад
Yep, although that was actually due to the Stones manager and lawyers. The Stones eventually gave over full rights of the song back to the Verve, last year. It's just a shame, though, that they didn't make nearly the money they could have made had they been able to clear the rites to the song before hand.

Just realized that between this one and The Righteous Brothers... You're a fan of the strings with drums. 😎 Okay. Look up ANYTHING Phil Spector made in the 60's as a producer. He created "The Wall of Sound", which is where this kinda beat comes from. He was the guy who produced the two Righteous Brothers Songs you've done as well. Hes in jail for murder now. His guilt can be debated. His fucking genius and musicality can NOT. You'd dig his sound, man.
