This is just art. I love for the fun factor in how many things it has. It’s inspiring and brings out the kid vibes.

This is not a knife. It is a Victorinox museum, something for my study’s drawer. Still eyeing it.

I think having a few unpractical knives is one of myfavorite parts of the hobby, and every hobbyist should have at least one. I still have all 7 or 8 color variants of the Rike Humingbird. I've had one on my keychain for about the last 5 years - I also have an unused version of the same blue variant in my collection. I just love how beautiful that knife is and all the little details, but what I love the most is how tiny it is. So many love looking at it and laugh and smile when I tell them that it's not just a cheap little joke of a knife but that it's actually made of nothing but excellent high-level materials and that it's a scary sharp little guy. I was lucky enough to get a Boker Mini Kalishnikov auto Dessert Warrior on the first drop and that little pink icing donut knife always makes me laugh. I wasn't able to get the mid-size one... and I'm not paying the crazy after market price for an Aus-8 blade, hahaha. I'm hoping to get one of the XXL Dessert Warriors in a few days. That's not a practical knife to me, but seeing such a large automatic with the pink icing and plenty of sprinkles is too funny to pass up. I might even buy the matching rubber work mat, hahaha. Yeah, I think at least 1 unpractical knife should be a requirement if you want to consider yourself a true knife collector or hobbyist... I spefically said "or" not "and" hahaha There should be a little fun and laughter for every collector and hobbyist.

Totally agree. I’ve got a bit of a ‘donut’ collection going myself. And hoping to get in on the XXL myself.

Great video thanks. Nice coffee table / desk display knife. But I am sure when you are sitting at the desk you will come up with many uses for the knife as it will be right there in arms reach when needed. I EDC the SAK Hanyman pared with a SAK Mini Champ that has a pen and light. But at times I will add my SAK Cyber Tool 34 & or my Champion Plus old school SAK. Never leave hope with out my SAK. I am thinking about getting the Swiss Champ XLT as it does have the bit driver and bit set and is about 1.66 inch thick which for me would not be a problem as I hang all my SAK from the lanyard off my belt so they drop to the middle of my pocket not the bottom. If I need some thing out of my pocket the SAK's just hang of the belt out of the pocket and the way till I put them back out of site out of mind.

Got one of these and two other similar sized beasts (one with a butane lighter!). I collect Swiss Army Knives and these are quite the boat anchors, Yup, the kid still buried in one's soul looks at these and says "gotta have it" but it takes a few years and the generation of considerable "disposable income" before ones dreams come true. Way back when (when I could scarcely afford it) my first Swiss Army Knife was the Swiss Champ in the SOS kit. More than 30 years later I still have it, having had it refurbished by Victorinox. I have a drawer full of various models now including those beasts shown in the video. Many (especially the ones with the butane lighter) are rather rare indeed. The "Holy Grail" of Swiss Army Knives is a RIDICULOUSLY large creation from Wenger that is about 2 1/2 times wider than the XAVT and will set you back about 5000.00 U.S.! Very rare and limited production.

I got my Swiss champ back in the early 80's (pre pliers). Scissors and main blade are broken and a slight bend on the corkscrew. Is it expensive for a refurb because it is only these blades I would be looking at getting replaced? I have just bought a new champ last month but my original has been with me everywhere and has a huge sentimental value.
@RonaldDCass
@RonaldDCass 8 месяцев назад
The ideal setup would be to design a "MODULAR" version that could be at least three separate units carried as one unit, but make it easier to use the devices. Pliars could be used to back up the screwdriver for example. As a single unit you can only use one tool at a time. Perhaps Victorinox could offer three or four SAK's as a package that contain every tool available?

Nice video. Victorinox discontinued the XAVT and replaced it with the XXL while keeping the pricing the same. The electronic functions/display is what makes the XAVT so much more cool. Problem with all the SAK models with the display is that so may nimrods immersed the entire knife under water essentially destroying the electronics. Victorinox finally had enough of the warrantee claims and decided to move away from knives with the display. It's really too bad.

It's not very practical but it's definitely cool! I'm a big victorinox fan and this one always intrigued me. As far as a champ with the multi bit driver they did a series called the cyber tools and the biggest one was the 41 which was basically a champ with the multi bit driver. Overall it was a pretty cool series of tools from them. Great video 👍

I bought my Swiss Champ big SOS kits in October 1993 in Basel as a Birthday (20y) gift form myself. Lost it in 1999. Switched to the Leatherman Wave in the same Year. Just bought the same Swiss champmodell (1991-1995) again. Will past it to my son (13y).

Man I've found out that the XXL is extremely handy for me to carry. I use it everyday at work and in my off time. Once I overcame the challenge of how to carry it, it has become part of my EDC. Yeah it's ridiculous in size, but I'm glad I bought one, even though it was originally meant to be solely a show piece.

They do have a Swiss Champ-like version with that bit driver, it's called the Victorinox Cybertool L 1.7775.T. There's also a Victorinox Swiss Champ XLT 1.6795.XLT, the largest I have carried as my EDC, but it is noticeably bigger than the Swiss Champ. And, as for the piece that you showed here, Victorinox have a sheath for it too, and it has a belt loop too! However, they do say that this is only a collector's piece.

I just bought it along with the xavt carrying case because it's dual purpose xxl and xavt, i.e., both fit perfectly. i absolutely intend to carry this xxl it's just that my intention is to carry it for certain situations and then the regular swisschamp (which i also own) under all other circumstances. for example, if i go hiking or backpacking or camping or if i go, say, touring a new city, then i will bring the xxl. but if i'm just out for my day-to-day such as running errands, then i'll throw the swisschamp in my pocket.

When I was younger (1985 or so) I had what I recall being some form of Swiss Champ with a spoon, a separate fork and a separate butter knife in addition to the full standard Swiss Army blade. But contacting Victorinox and many others, no one knows what the model was nor where I might find one. Does anyone here know what my former knive's name was and where I may find one? Thanks for any help provided, David

I have a Swiss champ that's 30 years old. I got it the 1st day came out at the show and I just retired. It's? Still good. Working order you knowse a little worn now. I mean you know I've I used it as I bought a brand new Swiss champ between $148 brand new on eBay and I'm looking at. x x l But it's 300 and like $50 like you said II don't have very many people coming to my house. I don't have any where to display it and I use all my little Swiss army knives but this one here. I think it's more for conversation. I don't see how you could walk around using how could you put that in your pocket? It's got a way like at least a pound and using it once I get too big. It's just not that great they do make A XLT. Which has just Has one bit drive on it and is far smaller than that just slightly bigger than the swiss champ
