Good film and all the more effective for a lot of location work. Susan Hampshire (with her wonderful retrousse nose, and still with us in her eighties) and particularly Tom Bell (an underestimated actor) turn in competent performances. Hollywood veteran Ed Begley (Snr) gives another in his range of more or less "fanatical" characters - see "Twelve Angry Men" for one of his best (worst?).

Great film and wonderful acting especially that beauty Susan Hampshire. To those of you who never knew Ireland, enjoy this nostalgic view of it because as of today, July 2024, it resembles enriched London more than what you see here. The politicians have sold out the entire country and imported 1000s of Africans and Muslims. Paddy Irishman is now a foreigner in his own country.

I’m sure she was dyslexic… I remember my farther saying she was clever to be able to learn her lines with dyslexia. Because I had it or have it .

Thanks for uploading this😀 I get to see my town back in the day. There's another film made in the town set during WW2 called UNDERGROUND directed by Arthur H Nadel in 1970 if you could manage it the town would love it. I'm sharing the shite out of Violent Enemy as it is .

i live in Spain but i do appreciate your enthusiasm ! My boyfriend loved on Tenerife for many years where in the last twenty years or so many big movies were partly shot. Fury of the titans, the last Bourn flick, Rambo five if i am not wrong and Fast and the Furious seven, he also gets super excited when he sees spots he knows.

Nice to see a little bit of life "back then". Needs a little understanding though - Susan Hampshire was a model (we can see why) but that doesn't make her much of an actress and asking her for the accent - it's completely beyond her. That's a chronic piece of miscasting that insults the rest of the cast. It's OK if you can get past the hopeless accents.

A descent enough little "political suspense" thriller. Though, was the title of this film intended to describe the British Crown, or the people of sovereign Ireland? If the latter, then the film might have more rightfully been titled, "The Unapologetic Nationalists", or, "The Cost Of freedom" = *Sinn Féin*

Whilst terrorism is a pretty subjective description, it's application in the pursuit of freedom -also subjective- can never be justified. Otherwise the field is open to every puffed up, self important pin-head with a grudge.

Though, an equally thought-provoking film is the 1970 release of "The Molly Mcguires", staring Richard Harris and Sean Connery.
