Talbot was the real protagonist of this film. He lost everyone that mattered to him yet found kindness in his heart to open up his home to some random people that he saw were in distress. It's sad that all his kindness was for nothing as Alice was being Alice
Just for reference most bear traps especially ones of that size shouldn't be strong enough to break a human ankle they work by restricting the trapped animals movement not by breaking their legs and most modern traps are made to not harm the trapped animal just in case the trapped animal is an endangered variety.
@@Yavorh55 Modern bear traps don't have teeth for obvious reasons they instead work by clamping down above a joint so the creature can't slide out of it. They also don't slam as hard as people think, they can easily break fingers or toes but definitely not arms or legs especially since fat and muscle cushion the blunt blow. Also most animal bear trap injuries are caused by the animal attempting to escape them by chewing out of them or pulling too hard and dislocating the trapped joint. Also the traps are typically chained to an anchor like a tree or stake which is how they keep an animal within a certain area.

Personally im "southern" and ive camped a few times. Although it was a pretty wimpy kinda camping for kids. and you learn very early on whether you like it or not. and I absolutely do not. it honestly sucks alot. So yea thats a big reason why no one bothers learning about it and stuff. But I probably would just in terms of survival. like if something really fucked happens. but even then there are countless situations like that so uea.
I actually like movies when characters make wrong decisions and die cause of it.. not always just straight up dumb decisions but just the wrong one.. what sucks is the person that makes the wrong move the most usually never dies
A dumb or wrong decision or two is one thing but these idiots seem to just make nothing but. A good character making a bad choice due to freaking out is a good thing. No one wants to watch a horror movie where every choice is perfect and everyone lives happily
I mean if the bad decision only affects the one who makes it, or the person making it is appropriately shown as being irresponsible, that for me is better. It’s scarier if you do things right (or at least intelligently) and it’s still not enough.
@@dr.altoclef9255 i do agree with the whole do everything right and it still fails.. but with how often movies stories etc use the trope of someone making a mistake the screws over other people are used too much, stories just need to be able to switch it up. I love when a story makes it so people try to do everything right cause of a few messing up and dying cause of it but then when the remaining members learn how to almost do everything right shit still goes wrong..
@@Cthulhu357 Very true. I just remember being a bit annoyed with ‘Taken’ because like…come on, at least be a little cautious. My dad said “then it wouldn’t have been called Taken” but I felt like maybe if you made Neeson’s daughter a little uneasy but like…going along with peer pressure it might be a bit more natural. Like she makes an effort to at least remember the rules but her friend is all over it and she doesn’t want to come off as a killjoy or ‘be impolite’ and that’s what they take advantage of.
Hold up are they trying to just open the bear trap by prying it open instead of disengaging the lock? Traps like that have a locking mechanism on the sides that slides upward towards the middle of the bar to keep them shut around an animal's foot. It's not a matter of being able to pull it apart you have to squeeze it together if anything or just push down on the trap's lock. That's why historically traps like that could be used to hunt a bear because no matter how strong you are you're not going to get it open without disengaging the lock.

@@jameswilliams2075 to be fair movies might be part of the issue. entertainment i can think of at least 4 movies/games where they just pry it open its like how much people can take headshots in fighting without it doing anything or get like hit with a bat in the head and its comedy when it would kill you.

id say its more of a mutation rather than an actual disease. like the virus from resident evil it forces incredibly fast mutation evolution. so really they may have become something completely different since it seemed like there was a lot more of them than just a tiny few

As I complete my biology prereqs for the respiratory therapy program at my school, I love the fact that I can understand everything you're are saying. So fun fact! I had a case of myocarditis caused by mono(transferred by saliva from kissing). It tricked my immune system into attacking the lining of my heart causing my muscles to become inflamed as well as my heart. I was forced to work for 2 days in excruciating pain, and nearly passed out several times, I wasn't able to sleep for 3 days cause the pain was constant. My grandma shrugged it off as stress cause I had just finished my last 2 weeks of that job until I had her take my temperature. It was 104 degrees. her and my sister began a heated debate about whether she should drive me immediately to the hospital or wait for the ambulance. The ambulance arrived and when I stood to get on the stretcher I somewhat whited-out. The next thing I remember is pain so intense I begged the nurses and doctor to kill me, to please just let it end. It felt as if billions of red hot hooks were being drug through my muscles in all directions. According to the doctor that's around the time I passed out from the pain. I faded in and out of consciousness for 2 days before finally waking up. When I awoke the nurse told me that I had had 2 heart attacks within 10 minutes of each other, one in the ambulance and the other soon after I blacked out. At 19 they said I got lucky that I had a strong heart otherwise the 2nd heart attack would have killed me. 4 years later and I still have light heart pain do to likely permanent damage.
And I thought I was messed up having has a stroke at 18 among bacterial meningitis, but im happy youre still here, might be on meds for the rest of your life like me but atleast we didn't fuckin die
Ruins had way worse characters. Like the Doctor guy who thought that "hey my friend has blood poisoning, let's cut his legs off...with a stone...on sand." because that for sure is totally sterile and won't be infected under no circumstances 🙄.

That's exactly how I got here. Though mine was more accidental. I was watching other videos and one of his showed up below it. Being a lover of all things Dead Space, I went for it. Watched another one a few days later and subbed. Now here I am. I'm even on the subreddit, though I don't get on Reddit much lately.
Fun fact: There’s actually a condition called Gilbert’s Syndrome where the liver, for some reason, won’t process bilirubin efficiently, leading to relatively high amounts of conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin in the bloodstream at all times. There are no ill effects other than that though; the liver is apparently working fine in all ways except bilirubin processing. I found out I had this after 2 blood tests and a liver scan, all just to find out my liver is just being a lazy bastard.

The liquid could be nanobots that are programmed to adjust the organism to that of the aliens, so if they use it they would keep them healthy and repair the cells and stuff like that and when they enter the human organism they change the cells to that of a alien, but then i dont know why it started with his arm and not his face. The technologie could just scan some proteins on top of the skin ( or shell)of the aliens or if its the Nanobot thing again, just scan those.

There are plenty of Final Girls in movies who didn't need a page of backstory and other characters flat out saying it to say they are a strong female character, it would of made her more human if say she was involved in killing a sibling with a gun in a hunting accident which details how she knows how to handle a firearm AND give her motivation to be a doctor and not want to kill anyone even if they might come back as ferals. If she learned in the process of the movie that sometimes to help someone she might need to end their suffering and overcome her trauma.

Hi Roanoke, as always great video, I loved it. Quick question, how would you feel about covering the Mystery Flesh Pit and its internal ecosystem? If you don't know about it, it's a fictional project in which a mining corporation exploits a massive, cosmic horror-type creature buried in the Permian Basin, and ran a natural park within it (until its closure due to the creature almost waking up). It has its own internal anatomy, with organs and everything, and a whole parasitic ecosystem thrives within it. There's history, there's horror, there's biology, and there's a whole lot of speculation to do, so it would be right up your alley. The project as a whole is simply amazing too, and I highly suggest you check it out.

Just watched a movie called Dead Mine 2012. Was like a Japanese Overlord. With a gold based chemical providing longevity to some solders left from WW2 in a bunker in the Philippine islands. Was pretty good. Would recommend. Would like to know how gold could be used along with whatever concoction to prolong life. All though some of the effects didn’t seem desirable. It’s a movie, it has “science”, its got communist, it’s perfect for your channel! Hope you see this. Love the channel!

I think science could benefit from people like us who could provide an interdisciplinary approach to physics. Also I’m totally going to look up what you’re researching. I know I am late but I found out recently that coyotes are actually pretty large. They could get as large as a German shepherd and they do hunt in packs.
It sucks that they would copyright and take down incredible videos like this, they use real biology and real facts mixed in with only some footage, I honestly feel like if your videos are copyright claimed, then movie recap videos should also be copyright claimed.

I enjoy learning something new so I’m enjoying the virology breakdown. Also if you had time, considering you have time, I was wondering if you can do a breakdown on the bacteria in Subnautica. I think the cross species jump from kingdom to kingdom is astounding despite not really seeming to have ever been in contact with mammalian. It might also explain the biological delay, but you’re the expert here. I’d love to learn about it.

Watched it around the time it came out, didn't care much. Watched it recently, and absolutely hated it. Maybe I'm just biased, but Feral is one of the worst horror movies I've ever watched. The characters act like they were labotamized before the story starts and are in no way likable. The writing can only be described as pre-school level and nonsensical. It's like if a 15 year old(who's only experience with horror media is watching Until Dawn letsplays) tried making a movie, but only cared about throwing their own social views and politics in, consistent storytelling, actual tension, and empathetic characters be damned(speaking of which, Friday the 13th is somehow better at making you care about it's cast).

To possibilities they are terrible writers/ terrible people so they think these are good empathetic characters. Or they think you have to make horror characters unlikeable to make their deaths enjoyable not understanding emotional impact
Considering how many times I've had brushes with death over the course of my life, I might not be one to talk. That being said, the way people conduct themselves in a lot of these horror movies is downright distracting, as it makes me wonder how they could have survived into their early twenties.
Video recommendations; 1.) The mutated roaches and insect serums from Tera Formers. 2.) The psychology and neurology of girl to girl attraction. 3.) Kryptonian physiology from Man of Steel.
I like how all the characters immediately hate being on this camping trip they planned and drove for hours to be on. Do teenagers and twenty-somethings actually like camping? Enough to have these groups go wandering into the woods in every horror movie?
Pretty sure Alice was the lead because of how those “camping cargos” looked on her backside. Also, you camping five feet away from your Toyota does not count! Sleeping bag near a fire to try and keep things from snuggling up to you is the acid test.

@@quinnzykir well when you think about Alex essentially became the virus so when he put himself together after the final boss fight he thought he'd see if he liked or disliked humanity by traveling the world that's why there was such a time jump too for prototype 2 there was a comic that was supposed to explain why he became the villain but it never came out so we only know about it because of the original creator on twitter explaining what happened between the 2 games but yeah that's basically why he wanted heller's daughter because she shared James heller DNA and he wanted her to be "the mother of a new world" that wouldn't have war or decease if he mutated her with a new strain of the mercer virus she wouldn't be able to fight against it or him thus bringing about a new species that he and only he could control.

I apparently had watched this movie at some point, but, it was such a pile of crap that my brain completely removed it from the old memory bank except for a very faint trace. Just enough to remind me how awful it was incase I ever started watching it again or if I came across an awesome Roanoke breakdown of it. Took about 5 minutes for the old neurons to kickstart and for me to realize, "Oh gawds, not this disaster". And the Amy from the Ruins reference was so on point.
