So here's an example of a "BUDGET SMARTPHONE" in Australia. Yeah, it's just so not worth it. ALSO BEZELS MAN. HOLY MOLY. The manufacturer is Wiko, and it looks like a lot of their other devices (like the Wiko Jerry4) do as you suggest and actually center the screen. (The telltale bit for the actual manufacturer is the US FCC certification number on the little label inside the SIM slot) There's no other Wiko devices that appear to be so... off-center, so perhaps this was a custom for Vodafone. (Edit: It's a Wiko View2 with a custom camera package and the SoC out of a Tommy3, and the View2 Plus has a fingerprint sensor exactly where that divot on the motherboard goes, so most likely Vodafone just ordering whatever Wiko had to hand as far as spare parts)
I think this is actually a good phone for the price. The target audience won't care at all about performance and bezel sizes, or even battery life to a certain extent. They just want to call their family and watch some cool DIY vids on the RU-vids, post pictures to the Facebooks and surf the net. This is more than enough for that.
I do agree. Though, it is a tad pricy. Here in North America carrier subsidiaries are so extreme you have prepaid android phones in dollar generals going for ~$30 (Nokia C100). Many alcatels and ZTEs of the past even went for cheaper. Most of which completely fine. Yeah. Not sure what vodaphone was thinking here.
"Because the currency in Australia is currently toilet paper" I live in Singapore and people are also buying sh*t loads of toilet paper too. Definitely going to be a global currency soon Great video as always!
Hey dude, just subbed, cause it seems ive been watching without subs all this time. I have a Vodafone phone aswell. The Smart 7 Platinum and it was an absolute bargain for what it was. Essentially an Alcatel Idol 3s. I think the draw for these phones comes from carriers. We have Vodacom here in South Africa, so on contract this phone cost me absolutely nothing. Biggest disadvantage is you cant custom rom them, and there are no software upgrades. So I'm stuck on a patch from 2018. Anyways keep on doing what you doing! Appreciate the videos!
I have the Xiaomi Redmi 7A which is around the same price tag. It has a 2 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 439 (An overclocked SDM-435 basically) and 2 gigs of RAM. The screen is a decent 5.45" IPS panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio and around 9 mm bezels on both top and bottom. The best part is the GPU which is an Adreno 505. It's cheap but plays even the most demanding games at 30+ fps.
I picked up the Power 3 after watching your video. It amazes me that this company is charging the same price for this phone as I paid for my Power 3. I'm working with 4GBs of RAM and 64GBs of storage, an 8 core processor, no notch at all, and almost no bezel. This is WAY overpriced!
It's because this is a retail device. You can walk into a store and pick it up. No waiting for shipping etc. Whereas the Power 3 you have to wait for shipping and all that. Still in saying this though, $150 AUD/$90 USD for this is just not worth it at all. The bezels still annoy the hell out of me :)
@@SMOOREZ I bought the Power 3 from the official UMIDIGI US eBay store. It shipped a day later, and I had in within 4 days of ordering. It makes me sad that there's people out there spending so much on a phone that's not even close to the best they can get for the money. And calling that an all screen display is a complete lie. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't trying to make people think that it's something it isn't.
My Nokia 5.1 also has black borders around this video, which means it is 18:9 and it also has bezels like this (but no notch) so this phone is 18:9 (if this was said in the video sorry, because I've watched it to 23:49)
I have a Motorola Moto G7 Power that has the exact same Chin/Notch set up. So they aren't the only ones thinking a notch at any cost makes a phone "full screen"
Seriously, there should be a front-camera-less model for every phone so we can get a full bezel-less display without any notch crap. I mean, who really needs to take selfies?
In the UK back in 2016,the network "EE" were selling a phone (made by ZTE) for £39.99 for EE customers and £49.99 for non ee customers (I think). It had 8gb storage and that's all i could remember. Weren't that bad for the price but mayne if you do want to see it you could try online. I used it and it was fine for calls, texts,WhatsApp and videos. One feature I liked about it is that instead of OTA updates, you could download update files then go to setting and install them. It worked with my SIM back then (Non-EE) which was amazing. Now Vodafone sells phones which you can pick up for under £30 but if you're really lucky for under £20. And for the price of the phone featured in the video, you could get a better phone like Xiamoi, Vivo or oppo. Or a used flagship like a S7 or Goophone. These may even have better specs. One of my family members had a Vodafone device (quite old) which even had Java applications
Ark surely is heavy af. My MI 9T pro struggles to keep constant 50-60fps dropping to 30fps on the highest settings. Not to mention the heat that the phone puts out at that point
The back glass panel under the camera, i think that's a glass protector, i don't know if you noticed that in the video I'm on the half when i noticed it
I own a Pocophone. I was going to compare it to this during the video since the F1 was criticized for having a notch and a bit of a chin. But this Smart N10 takes the winner of biggest chin to screen ratio.
The only advantage of buying a network branded phone is that you know it will work with the network. However for that price you would (just as with the wish/ebay Chinese phones) be better off buying the same thing used. Unless of course you really want a 'new' phone. Also, why would a phone for an Australian carrier have 'English, United States' as default language? I can see English, but 'United States'?
Android Go is meant to be used with devices with 1 GB of RAM or less. And this phone is equipped with 2 GB so that's why they went with the standard version.
When testing Minecraft, here’s a real test. The servers, with tons of players. Because I don’t think many people will be playing single player, most are prob going to be on servers. And servers are more demanding as there’s more players on screen and such
Agreed. But this is what Vodafone is selling to people who walk in and go "I need a cheap phone" they point to this and go "this is fine". I get people who want a brand new device but there are so many others out there that are better value for the money than this.
Exactly. For that extra $25 AUD you can get it unlocked, but the question is will it work on other networks since they likely messed with the bands, probably not. But here in Australia, every major provider sells Network Locked devices. And they are all priced ridiculously high.
When its comes to Vodafone Proprierty Devices the N10 is not a good deal it is better to go for a V10 as atleast that has a duel rear camara and is a little better in other aspects - Or Just get a Budget Samsung but its your choice
I buy this phone brand new for 30$ US dollars and....hey, I can make/receive calls, read emails and navigate by gps (when I need ). Its what all I need. Why some guys think that all phones should be made for playing games? If You need to play buy a playstation, If you need a good camera buy a decent SLR. Give more than a 100 dollars for a phone is just pathetic!
Im watching this video on my smart N10. for 107$ NZD i aint complaining. Tbh thr chin isnt a problem. i think its good because alot of phones today are hard to hold without touchn shit on the side of the screen. gives u sumwea screenless to hold onto it. Its very premium esque for a budget phone. And uv had no problems. youtube, facebook ect it fine. not slow at all. Your very biased in this video. everything you complained about i literally have a totally different perspective and i am familiar with top end devices iv had galaxy s9 s10 notes google pixel xl ect and for essentially 100 bucks shes not fckn bad. and the screen is actually quite reasonabke for the price. i cant see pixels individually its easy in the eyes not to bad at all id say buy it if you need a cheap phone quick. screen decent size to
i'll have to agree with some that for the price it ain't as bad as you try to make it sound, not everyone can afford a flagship. also, the recurring version complain, what's that for? a lot of people still use android 6 ffs, having android 10 on a budget phone seems worthless with those specs.
So you could get the honor 8s i have (32gb storage, dual sim, 128gb sd card, 13mp camera, 2ghz quad core cpu), or this... ...yea i'll stick with what i have
The screen to body ratio of my Huawei p10 plus with a 16:9 display and massive top and bottom bezel is 71% and they advertise this thing as all screen when it's not much better
Why didn't they just knock out that notch and put the camera down in the chin and do a budget mi mix design, would have actually looked good for that price
Exactly. I made that comment (about them getting rid of the notch and just making the screen bigger). I just don't get their design choice with this one.
For the same price buy a galaxy a10 which has far more better specs than this A 6.2" display with a smaller notch and bezzel 32 gigs of storage with 3 gigs of ram 4 colors to choose from But it still uses micro usb
That was my point of this review, to show people that the N10 is not worth it at all. Vodafone is pushing to sell these to people and it's not a good phone for 2020.
It's a 16gb budget phone wow that's not a good experience at all nowadays we have more than 16gb of internal space and we now have a bigger screen than 5.7 inches
For those who want to buy toilet papers online, there's a website called yeet.com where you can buy groceries and other stuff there. (Please remember that they yeet your item to your front door)
