Not a beginner's electronics video, but maybe a beginner's electronic tech video. A short and basic video. I am not aware if there are more in-depth videos on this subject out there, since I don't bother to look. In order to get a full output reading, I turned the volume control all the way up, and then slowly increased the signal into the aux input. The load was 8 ohms, and the input signal was a standard 1,000 Hz sine wave.

Hi Mr. Oldschool. Good to see you're back and reminded that I was supposed to reply your email. Haha. Sorry about that. You know how the current happening is but I will do so hopefully soon. About this video, I am one of them who thought that the volume knob at 12 would give 50% output. This is actually not the case. You had cleared that in a very detailed way. Thank you for the enlightenment. I now know the volume pot is like a water faucet. The taper equals how the faucet allow the water to flow through. Some faucet goes from 1 to 11, some you can control the output. I noticed you have a new digital scope. Thumbs up.

Very good exercise! Not boring and to short, should do a 13 part epic mini-series! :) Nice intro...somebody is feeling artsy! :) ~Jack, VEG

Thanks, Jack! Epic mini-series, then a full-length feature film with a choice of multiple endings, a "making of" documentary, and finally a prequel where we see how much of an influence "The Phantom of the Opera" was on the making this video. Merchandise to follow.

As long as it wasn't Tammy Faye Bakker who gave inspiration, I think you be A-O.K.! :) ~Jack, VEG

I like your intro. I think I will look into to the volume control on my next project. Interesting.

Thanks, Pat! Try that and let me know your results. But, of course, I already know you already knew all that. We need to get your subscriber numbers up!

Great information. When you square the voltage on your calculator you dont have to enter the RMS voltage twice. Simply enter your RMS voltage then X then = and it will square it by itself. Then divide it by your speaker/dummy load value. Just a little time saver for you in case you didn't already know this. Cheers!
