This episode was fucking nuts

This was very reminiscent of the whole lineup. I was also reminded of Rick and the Claimers when he was saying "it was me, not them". Rick was also on his knees in that scene

@@dorray7850 I believe the guy who messed with the food drop was named Richard.

@@dorray7850 what’s even more poignant is that Richard set it up assuming that he was gonna take one for the team and get killed. But Jared saw he wanted to die for a greater cause and instead chose to kill an innocent, just like how the Warden decided he would kill Annie instead.

Angela Kang isn't a very good story writer and this seasom hasn't been great, I hope it picks up next episode.

Mercer needs to lead the Commonwealth or at least be a much more direct figure of authority in case someone else like Maggie takes over to be the political leader. Jerry should become king of Kingdom 2.0. Aaron and Gabriel should lead Alexandria. Luke and Jules can run Oceanside. And Maggie can still run Hilltop if she doesn’t take over the Commonwealth.

Yeah it would’ve been like if the pike massacre killed all major characters (Nabila may not be a main character but she’s still Jerry’s wife) instead of 70% minor characters, not that it made the massacre any less horrific

Honestly, part of me wanted it to go down that way. Of course with Negan in the line up I knew everyone was safe, but it would've been probably the most shocking scene of the show. It felt plausible because the bigger players like Maggie, Daryl and Carol weren't there.

I was soo confused. I was so certain he died. What happened to him? Did he just go to Ocean side at some point and we never saw him again?

@@muffinmc4462 Yeah, basically. He moved to Oceanside to be with Jules. They had to write him off because the actor was busy filming Fantastic Beasts.

In the comics Rick admitted that Negan was a useful asset and even had faith in him to peacefully convince the Saviors (who were still around and hostile at this point) to stand down. But he ultimately ordered him to be banished. Rewarded with his freedom for helping defeat the Whisperers, but denied a place in the community.

That’s not what that scene was about. I don’t want to see them doing things for pointless shock value.

I think they’re going to have their big final battle with all the cast first before bodies hit the floor. The scene was about the beginning of the uprising against the Commonwealth, and showing that the troopers are also people too who can be convinced to defect. Luke was a prominent supporting character in Seasons 9 and 10, hardly a background character. He’s been absent since “A Certain Doom” because Dan Fogler was busy filming Fantastic Beasts.

I think the scene should have went through with Negan's wife actually getting killed in front of him. That would have been brutal yet a poetic full circle given what Negan did to someone else's spouse in a similar situation.

@@MadMax-ii8gq I think gunning down a pregnant woman would have been too much. No way King E wouldn’t do something to try to stop it. And Negan would have had to die too since the point was to kill them both but make Negan hurt first and not die a martyr.

TWD lost its appeal and quality because it did too many "shocking deaths". Shocking deaths dont do any favors for shows in the long run...same with other shows like GOT. So in my opinion, it is a good thing that it lost its nerve but unfortunately it is too little too late. TWD killed off Glenn, Abraham, Carl, "Rick" and a bunch of other characters and it hurt the show overtime... Best characters left the show, we got stuck with useless or less likeable characters and the show lost much of its steam/narrative focus and people lost interest. It took a change in the writing room and many episodes, to make the show watchable again before it ends, and it is still just a shadow of what it was. Shocking deaths are good "shock value" source for viewers until the show runs out of good chartacters too kill..Characters dont grow on trees and unless you intend to start over a season with new cast, it is never going to work.
