That scene with Negan & the Warden was so amazing as it really makes the whole Season 7 line-up come full circle to where Negan is literally on his knees begging for mercy for his wife, just as Rick did for Carl. While it may not have been intentional, I think it further solidifies his whole entire character to where he will legit give his own life for the one’s he cares/loves about. Plus, that ending with Mercer has got to be the breakout moment as I legit got chills. Can’t wait for the next episode!

In my opinion, this is when Negan finally has been redeemed to the point where he shouldn't be persecuted anymore. Not only was he willing to sacrifice himself for his wife and unborn child, he also didn't tell the leader about Ezekiel and saved everyone else too by keeping his mouth shut and just saying he planned it all himself. He was willing to die for people that he went to war with, who imprisoned him, and some of them he doesn't even know. Also the parallels between Glenn and Maggie in 7x1 and Negan with his wife in this episode are fantastic.

The point of redemption is not redeeming oneself to a status of good or decent. Rather, it is doing the right thing whilst bearing the burden of the man you used to be, accepting that you can never make up or change past actions.

@@shonwest1539 That’s what I say. People who love Negan want to erase everything he did and that shouldn’t ever happen. He can’t ever feel sorry for it of he tries to whitewash everything. Having Annie and his new baby gives him stakes. All the “wives” he had before, he didn’t love any of the, even Sherry, but he clearly loves Annie and losing her would hurt his soul, like losing Lucille did.

Calling it a full circle is kind of a reach, they did the "more of a threat" thing in season 1 and completely ignored it until this season lol. Full circle would be them sprinting in season 5/6 then slowing down in season 11 back to slow unclimbing zombies

Mercer’s last line made me cheer and fist pump. I’m not someone who curses a lot irl, but I always thought it was silly to restrict the F-bomb for so many years. BCS and BB was full of F-bombs and they fit because they were placed for the best impact. I’m glad it’s getting the one an episode treatment in this last season. It feels very natural to the setting imo.

Dang this probably would’ve been the most dramatic deaths in the whole series had it gone down that way especially when the rest of the survivors finding out their loved ones where gunned down like Carol losing Ezekiel, Connie and Yumiko losing Kelly and Magna, Jerry losing Nabila, Mercer losing Princess and Negan and his family being lost.

What this episode mainly brought was the confirmation that Eugene actually changed sides when he joined Neagan's group. Many, like me, had considered the possibility that Eugene planned from the beginning to wait just for a favorable opportunity to take everyone out at once. Now we know that he really didn't make this plan until much later, which is really disappointing.

He lied to Abraham for years. And in the end, he took the brave path. Nothing could have ruled out the possibility that relatively soon after his kidnapping, he was working in his head on plans to stop Neagan. That it was not so, we learn only now.

Negan knew no one but Ann would stand up for him so it looks like he really was going to sacrifice himself. His final act of redemption to secure his baby’s future. He was probably thinking no one would hold his kid responsible for his past actions if he gave up his life for Ezekiel and the others. He looked really surprised when so many stood between him and the executioner….as he should. I still think Negan should have killed the warden himself and with a smartass snarky smile to show him that the ruthlessness is still there and is about to be resurrected and released upon him.

Yes Negan has changed. I still don't like him, but I don't want to see him dead anymore. Here's the thing though. Changing who you are NEVER changes what you've done or what you've taken from people. There's always going to be people who see Negan 1 way inspite of all the good he's done. Better decisions today, don't change yesterday's reflection. But that being said, you have to know when to let that image of someone go in order to do what's best for everyone else, for people who had nothing to do with what the old Negan was. I think people still see him this way because they expect him to revert to what he was. But the death of the bat, was the death of Negan. When he burned Lucielle, he was also laying his past to rest as well.

This episode has a lot of reminiscing of old Negan....the man he was, even when he was made to get on his knees in front of everyone to die and they attempt to kill his wife and he begged like Rick did nothing cut Carl's arm off. Eugene bring up he wasn't the one that swung the bat, but was part of the evil. Zeke bringing up the hate for the Old Negan and Negan know he deserves whatever came his way , but Negan has truly made full circle ! THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!!

Daryl stepping out of the shadows like Michael Myers! I wish Negan would've told the Warden "suck my nuts" instead of just smile at him. I doubt it's a coincidence the Warden was kind of a redhead. And the prison bus they arrived in was in frame like kinda like the RV in Season 7 premier. Kinda suspect the place they were first forced to clear last episode was potentially the same location as the lineup, just redressed. When you guys said his redemption arc could be destroyed in 2 seconds by flipping on Zeke, all I could picture was Negan hitting him with a steel chair classic WWE heal-turn-style and couldn't help but laugh 😂

Yeah I think Mercer really is a good dude underneath all the hard ass vibes you first got from him from the start of season 11 just playing his role for the job thing . But once we saw princess first meet & aporoach Mercer with her being who she is a had a good feeling things had so much potential with her trying to get the better and fun side revealed out of him once they started having feelings for eachother. We also saw once they went to that party together in the common wealth we saw how many people there already seemed to love Mercer just chanting his name over and over and he didn’t obviously seem to like all that attention as we saw lance hornsby wanted it instead 😂

Minus Virgil(don't care about him at all) and I doubt we'll ever see Keith again(in this show at least), I do also wonder what happened to those characters from Oceanside, Alexandria, and Hilltop. Plus, the people from the now defunct Sanctuary like Negan's former wives I wonder what happened to them too. I know Alpha killed Frankie, Sherry ran off to Texas, and I don't know what happened to Amber. For all I know, she probably got back together with her boyfriend(Mark).
