I can't believe Gimple killed Carl because he lacks reading-comprehension and didn't understand why Rick didn't kill Negan. It wasn't an act of mercy; it was to show him he was wrong about everything and to take away his freedom, the worst punishment for someone with a God complex like Negan.
then you clearly havent watched the rest of the show, watch the rest of the show and come back, dont be hating on negan without knowing his backstory or how he changes
They should do a spinoff of shane and carl not dying, sort of like an alternative universe where lori dies before rick gets to the group and Shane, rick and carl become a unit in the current time.
3:05 have you read the comics? Most characters alive there are dead in show and vice versa. That’s not the problem. The problem is that this particular character was pivotal to The Walking Dead’s narrative going forward and they completely smashed that in
The comics are irreverent to most of the audience… Carl was the anchor of the show. Everything Shane did… Rick… the Group… it all matters from season 1 and on, so long as Carl is alive. Otis’ sacrifice, Hershel and Patricia performing surgery… Carl was the link to Lori & Shane (yeah, Judith is theirs but she didn’t know them). Everything led up to a future with Carl Grimes leading the way forward as he could draw on the lessons he learned from Rick, Shane, Dale, Hershel, Daryl, Negan, Carol… I can’t imagine a more foolish and costly decision than killing off Carl.
Just to let you all know, a friend of mine is working on a TV series and has a regular role for Chandler Riggs. The series will take place in the future with realistic-looking laser weapons but it's dramatic, grounded and not over the top. Hang in there, Riggs fans.
It always seemed shady to me. Chandler had just turned 18 and had bought a house in Georgia so he could live where he worked and then found out his character was being killed off. It's known that Chandler's dad was a pain in the ass during filming of the show and with Chandler turning 18 he was going to be entitled to more money. Gimple said it was story related but it just never felt that way to me.
@@ParanormalResponse There are rules for how things work in fictional worlds. that's fundamental for story telling. The only way carl could come back is as a zombie.
Main reason that even still, I cannot get over this and I get angry thinking about it is just that all of the development for Carl throughout the first 6 seasons was literally for nothing. You could argue that "well with that logic, any character development is pointless if the character was killed off" but the intention when writing those pivotal points in Carl's arc was for him to grow up and become an even bigger part of TWD. Not only that, but it just completely dismantled the overall meaning of the show. Obviously other characters exist, and they matter, of course. But at the very core, it was about Rick and Carl. Even if you didn't like Carl's character, which I absolutely had issues with how they handled his character in his last couple seasons, that doesn't take away from Carl being probably the most important character in the story, in my honest opinion.
Great video, thanks for making it for us. I am one of the ones that believe A- Carl should still be on the show. There seems to be such a huge hole without him & B- Gimple is an a$$hat! I don't post comments often but I am looking forward to your next video tho.
I can confirm that working on the set during the days of Gimple that the writing was horseshit. Everyone on set those days were always on edge, couldn’t agree on anything to even being confused by Gimple’s scripts. Those were the dark days working on this show.
Twd was dead by season 5. Then became less interesting, then got just horrible. Kang an gimple were trash. Nicatero needed retained. Nothing came close to season 1
Carl was a horrid character and actor along with Enid. Henry, Judith and lydia were best replacements if anything Henry was the one that shouldnt have died, he knew kung fu/ staff wielding and his character was intresting and he barely even got to start his story. Chandler riggs line delievery was always cringe and his character wasnt even doing anything anyway besides saying a few lines here and there and being annoying.
If Riggs was a better ACTOR he would have lived. His death was lame though, if they were gonna kill him they should have made it way better. No one even knew he got bit in the woods savin Siddiq. Furthermore Judith takes the legacy role of the Grimes name.
@simonejobity9911 fully aware of all that what's that got to do with the show? Judith can take on Carls arc in the show. And shes very much a Grimes. She even says that's her last name several times.
