The Walking Dead Season 1: In the Beginning was Frank Darabont 

The first season was definitely my favorite, I could rewatch it a hundred times and still love it.

AMC f*cked it up so bad, it's ridiculous.

I wish they didn't fire him 😢 would of loved to see the season two following the soldier and the fall of atlanta

Darabont shown love for the zombies and a story not a "oh we found a place to stay ,new enemies destroyed this place lets gο to another one"

Such a shame it didn’t end up on HBO. Probably would’ve been treated better and it would’ve been as mature as he wanted.

You can't cut a budget in half and expect quality for double the episodes.

Frank Darabont is really the “what if.” Besides walkers bring a bit too smart, Season 1 great. It’s kinda sad really as from the behind the scenes stuff, he really seems passionate about the show, then AMC slashed the budget. Maybe I’m missing something but AMC seems a bit stingy with their money. Unwilling to take a gamble. And as a result, the actor who playedDale quit because Frank Darabont was let go. When I look at the comics and show, there is a perfect combination of the 2, but sadly we didn’t get that, we might never get 2nd chance, a do over. At least for maybe a couple decades I’d guess. Or call the “the re edit.” Just fixing up the seasons

Darabont's storyline was the best for the franchise. Now there are too many seasons that all look just the same.

The Walking Dead TV show started and ended with Frank Darabont.

Season 1 is iconic. Season 2 was decent too, but definitely starts to show signs of being bogged down. The later season have some decent moments but never live up to season 1

This is the kind of stuff you don't want to know , because the more you do ,the more it pisses you off.

Darabont was gold, the only thing I hate about his way of thinking about the zombie apocalypse were smart zombies. But other than that it was the best showrunner that we got. I still remember Darabont desire to make a dedicated episode each starting season about a story. I remember the soldier inside Atlanta was an American famous actor who had the job because Darabont was planning to explain the falling of Atlanta thought his eyes.

Frank Darabont should have made the show with HBO

When I watched the older ones again after the horrible season 11, I really realized how awesome season 1 is and what kind of paths were prepared there and how bad and repetitive everything else is. I could watch season 1 over and over again and think its style and ideas are even much better than the Comics, but the others really showed their true colors when watching again. I want to see Darabonts vision of the show so much. It would also be cool if he at least starts a format in which he talks about his ideas for the further seasons.

I wanna see a Frank Derabont zombie series

Ok don’t get me wrong seasons 2-5 are good and are the golden age of the show but season 1 is still the best because it had better acting, music, etc that the later seasons don’t really have.

Dont foget Darabont also did the moview "The Mist', another Stephen King epic. If he was able to do The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, and they were considered to be two of the best movies of all time (Shawshank for sure is still top 5 on IMDB all time) then he WAS the man. I agree he was a huge impact on the show. Sad what happened. we can only imagine if he would have stayed on. Wonder what will happen with the law suit as he was an integral part so he is owed but it was Kirkman's content/comic so Kirkman owned the rights to that but Darabont adapted it for TV so...how will the courts decided. Its been going on for ages. when will it ever end?!! Oh well 10+ years later and the show is still here and with 2 spin offs so they did something right, even though last 2 seasons of FTWD were painful to watch.

There is (or at least was) an interview with Sam Witwer, who played the tank zombie, about the plan for his character and what happened between AMC and Frank Darabont. Its really illuminating.

The 1st season's walkers were interesting. Somehow an intelligent inhuman beast that it's only target is to eat the living. But uses what's left of his brain to do so instead of nonstop slow walking.

The worst part i think,is that the zombies are dumb and the show focus (since a few years) in fights between the survivors and other communities,zombies aren't dangerous,more fast or smart anymore

I really wished we could get a Frank darabont's cut in which we could see what the original script for episodes on season 2 we're going to be, and some ideas that have not been publicly stated by the showrunner. Frank darabont may also have a dark side but he was a great showrunner and I hate AMC for firing him.

I feel the first 3 seasons( even if season 2 could have been better with frank and is a bit slow and boring)are the best feeling seasons in atmosphere with enjoyable characters that are close and likeable,the following 3 seasons were a hit or miss then the rest were underwhelming

First season was awesome. Frank was great it is a shame he was gone. I would have loved to see his vision with governor and negan. And saviors.

I loved your video and whole-heartedly agree that Season 1 was the best, although I do think the show as it is currently done by Angela Kang is equally good. If not for Darabont I probably would not have gotten hooked on TWD as I am not a typical horror fan. But now I think TWD is the best show on TV and has been for all 10 seasons.

As someone who went seeking the comics after Season 2, I'd just like to say that I found it a really rewarding experience to have familiarized myself with the source material's twists and the turns to watch how the show stuck so close to them, only to be shocked when seeing how they'd tinker with characters' fates. I'd never taken the opportunity to really immerse myself in the comic book culture prior to TWD and more often than not, I found was most into the show when it remained faithful to the comic. The show's strongest point and its greatest contribution to TWD was its reinterpretation of the characters.

When I was reading the Walking dead Days Gone Bye I was surprised that Reggie that shot Rick was the Zombie that bit Amy in the Comic

When they didn't show the cafeteria scene from the hospital in the very first episode on AMC, I knew they weren't gonna be loyal to the books. haven't watched a single episode of the show. and I never will. I'm blaming frank.
