HOLY S**T what a cray episode!!! Sucks it was only 39 minutes but we got to see old school Negan being BRUTAL when he had to be in order to put on a show!!! The story behind The Croat was insane! Very worried for Hershel at this point!! Let us know what your thoughts of the episode were!

So if you didn’t catch it. The flashback with Maggie is in the same room Jenny is now staying in, which is a plot hole. The Croat came and raided the OG hilltop took all their grain AND Herschel so how is he in the new hilltop in a bedroom that became a thing after he was kidnapped? Just a thought

Maggie finally experiencing what its like to be protected by Negan the "monster". I think that helped her see that it's an act because she hasn't seen that Negan for like 15yrs or whatever because there has been no need for it.. fantastic show thus far!!

Exactly! When he killed Glenn an Abe it was to protect his people and Ricks group, including Glenn an Abe were a danger. Only a small part of why I never hated Negan

Translations: - Guy who killed Ester was saying "doma smo, doma smo" which means "we're home, we're home". - ending scene Croat said : "zamotan kao poklon" which means "wrapped like a present". - and their group "burazi" means "brothers", that's how Croat called Negan "buraz". Hershal is a teenager so rebellion is normal. Maggie has pushed and pushed him, and probably smothered him to keep him safe. Shes not doing it to hurt him, but to keep him alive. Judith embraced the fighting, but Hershal hasnt

I speak some Hebrew and I understood some of it. It was fairly basic, simple Hebrew. When Negan said he was pretty sure what she said translated to “Hell frickin no,” what she said was “ee efshar”-quite literally “it’s impossible.” “Yaalah” is indeed Arabic, but it was borrowed into Modern Hebrew and is used quite a bit by Israelis (which this lady presumably is).

I noticed that when Jenny was at the New Hilltop she passed by the small silo where the grain would be stored and it looked like they still had plenty of grain that Maggie had said was taken from them by The Croat. They were also serving bread at the New Hilltop even though Maggie told Negan that the Croat raided them and took their grain

13:42 that's the same symbol/trap that negan made maggie avoid from the first episode, he saw it on the ground and stopped her ..... But my issue with the trap is that why wouldn't a walker be trapped it it from the random ones that just walk around.

It also show that he acts like this to protect his people. Here he's protecting Maggie, jsut like back during lineup days, he was protecting his people. And proves when he said " I was a monster when i had to be."

According to Lauren Cohan (Executive Producer/Maggie), the show is "definitely set up to go beyond it's first season". She hopes the show will run for four or five seasons, guys.

The episode was just under 40 minutes long on AMC+ and 1 hour and 6 minutes on AMC. Most likely because of the teaser for Daryl's spinoff that aired during a commercial break. The old woman was speaking Hebrew, but I don't know what she was saying. And "Doma Smo" is Croatian for "We Are At Home" according to Google.

Maggie kind of got a sense of being protected by negan like she was "one of his people" and Negan got introduced to the helmet guys the same way he introduced himself to our survivors (killing to make a statement) . So we see the "bad negan" but on our side. Love this show direction and a Great refresh for me

Something to note. In ep 1, maggie said the croat took all her grain. Then, in ep 2, in the new Hiltop, there appears to be a grain silo. And ginny is given a sandwich which means you need grain to make the bread. I think this means maggie is lying to negan.....

Good reviews, guys! Aside from being a short ep, it definitely was a fun one with the Negan gutting scene. Zip lining is cool too. I heard Diamond Dave say that Ginny might be the one that saves them from the island perhaps taking them another boat. Will be interesting to get her back story as well as an update on Annie. The big mutated zombie looking thing from the teaser trailer may be a Rat King. Since there are so many bodies that have completely decomposed over time, and they're all sticky. They must've stuck together after laying in place for a long period of time. Sort of like the Rat King in the last of us. The rat king is an actaul scientific term, referring to rats that have been stuck in a cramped, humid, sticky environment. They all become entangled creating a rat king. They form more often naturally, when 3 or more rats that sleep together get their tails frozen together during winter.

13:40 it was our Croatian symbol of a "Kuna" witch was on all of our currency before we switched to euros...It was also on the floor next to the first trap in ep 1 and thats how Negan knew to tell Maggie its a trap. Burazi meens Bros in Croatian even tho they pronounce it as a "c" you pronounce it with a hard "z" like when Negan told Maggie thats what The Croat called him at the beginning. 15:38 He was chanting Doma smo witch just means We are home. And at 19:06 he says Wrapped up like a gift.

Really wish we would’ve got more of Pidgeon Lady!! I don’t understand why Maggie was so upset when she learned that The Croat would want to kill Negan. Wouldn’t that help Maggie’s quest of saving Hershel? Maybe what happened to that girl from the Kingdom is the reason Ezekiel just silently complied to Negan without telling his people.

That’s true. Maybe now it’s pointing towards Maggie trying to make a trade. Which I think Negan knew would end up happening considering his history with the Croat. He looks quite somber when the woman at the end says if you wish to die.

Ginny figured out that Maggie is lying about the Croat taking Hilltop’s grain after seeing the hopper silo full of grain and Hilltop making bread. She is going to rescue Negan! So why is Maggie setting up Negan for the Croat? There is so much more to this story I don’t understand why this episode was only 39 minutes.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to see the source please. Because JDM said in an interview that DC takes place in the 15th year of the apocalypse, which makes the time jump 2 years. There are also other articles verifying the same thing, plus the showrunner even said it was a 2 year time jump. The only thing I remember Lauren Cohan saying in an interview is that she'd like this spinoff to last 5 or 6 seasons. So 🤷‍♀️

One thought though.. I know they sorta filmed it as if Maggie was having all sorts of feelings when Negan decided to gut the Burazi fella.. but the scene at the end kinda gave off the impression that she's starting to lean Negans way. As distasteful as she might find it.. and I bet it's really really distasteful for Maggie (like really!) - im sorta thinking she's starting to see that there is a method to the madness.

Idk if anyone said this yet, but i would sware the building that the new yorkers are in is the commonwealth building. Its got same set up and columns and that upper platform. Just shot from diff angle and lil bit of diff paint but it looks like they still have same underlying paint job. Like they didnt even try to hide the fact they are using same set. And for sure im thinking new hilltop is terminus sets. Its like they didnt even try to change it. Now im not obviously a set designer so idk if the terminus is suppossed to be terminus but that commonwealth building just is so noticeable. Is it just me??

I didn't think they portrayed the thought process that maggie was supposed to portray in this episode. After the credits they said that the look she gave negan after his knock knock scene was like a realization that negan puts on a legit act to come off like a dangerous jackass but I didn't get that from the scene. I thought it looked more like disgust that he could turn it on and off the way he did. It threw me off when I heard them say that. :/

You can not be redeemed from bashing peoples heads in, not even with killing Alpha. To make the show exciting Maggie has to continue hating Negan. When I had to put on a show to protect my people.” Eventually Negan put on a show and Maggie sees it Eli Jorne (producer): ”It’s probably very hard for her to stomach, but she’s seeing what it feels like to be protected by that show and that perhaps that is what happened back in the day” Maggie now knows what it feels like to be protected by Negan and I absolutely love it!!
