its very sad that someone would tell him , a WWII vet that he cant try to find it. I thought you had lifetime rights to a discovery under law?

Has anyone panned for gold in the UP? Personally, I'm convinced there's gold & silver to be found in the UP & I don't give a rat's ass what all these geologists say. Read enough about either ore, whether through existing mines out west or old miners tales, & you will also say " if there, why not here". I'm seriously convinced there is. I'm not saying a " wall of silver" but, enough to make it profitable.

You can pan for glaciated gold along Lake Superior shoreline. They have also mined gold near Marquette, very low concentrations though. Most all of it is glaciated gold.

That’s why if you find any gold coins I don’t care how old they are or how many millions are worth just melt them down

You can bet that the Corporation that owns the property has recovered the gold coins and made them disappear forever. He never should have revealed the coins. Very few people would trade riches for notoriety. Only a fool would find/recover the gold then tell ANYONE. So whoever found it has gotten away with it. Silver is hardly worth the investment to mine. Gold coins however change everything. Gold brings out the evil greed in Men.

@@kevind3185 I was walking the base of the cliffs when I found a pile of crystals laying under a tree at the base. I started digging the crystals up and found a beginnings of a hole in which ended up being a small entrance. The crystals were around the hole. The hole went under the greenstone flow which is present there. I went back to the truck and got some ropes and tied off on a tree and went down in. Yikes! Very dangerous and scary. I never went all the way but I know it is the one. I filled it back in. I am not too sure how safe it is.
