The best compliment for Bruce is how unlikeable of a character he played on the Walton's but how incredibly likeable he is in real life. An indication of just how good of an actor he is.

Mr. Davison sure has a great sense of humor about having to fall face forward on the log right on his FACE for that scene! Thankfully, it didn't wreck his future 'fortune'. Interesting how Mr. Davison echoed what so many other performers have said about 'The Waltons' cast having truly bonded like a family! Yes, I think it helped 'Bob' have chemistry with the rest of you (and therefore staying sympathetic to the audience) all the way through the episode even though 'Bob' seemed on the verge of snubbing Young Olivia's semi-adoptive family! Thanks SO much for this (and what an excellent portraif Mr. Davison painted of Mr. Geer)!

I had completely forgotten that Bruce Davison had been in ‘The Waltons.’ Thank you so much for reaching out to him, Judy. He is definitely one of my favourites. The first thing I remember seeing him in was ‘Longtime Companion.’ He was heartbreaking in that, along with Campbell Scott (another great character actor who is himself the product of two incredible actors), Mary Louise Parker and Michael Schoeffling (‘Sixteen Candles’) before he escaped Hollywood. What I would give to be able to see ‘Streamers’ onstage with Bruce and Richard Thomas. The film, directed by Robert Altman, was good, but I have a feeling the stage cast would have been amazing. I am also going to have to look for that movie with Richard, Bruce and Ralph Waite. That sounds quite interesting. Looking forward to the next episode of your interview with Bruce!

Oh Judy, what a wonderful treat to see Bruce Davison on your vlog. Besides the Walton's, and other projects he's worked on, he was in a TV film that has stayed with me all my life, since I saw it. He was Anton, in the film The Summer of My German Soldier. Ester Rolle, had a line in the film that I truly needed to hear & I still need to keep in the back of my mind to refer to at times. It's about 'Irregular People', it's too long to go into here, but it's so worth watching the film here on RU-vid. It's a very hard movie to watch, but very important. The scene I'm speaking of is towards the end of the movie, be sure to listen closely!! I'm definitely looking forward to Bruce's next visit, this made my day!!! Thank you, Judy, what a great episode. I can't see any film makers today allowing their actors to fall over a log and land on their face without any safety measures, in fact, they'd get a stunt actor or double to do it in these days of health and safety and quite rightly to. Bruce Davison another interesting special guest star who otherwise would have slipped through my radar. A informative first part, always like to be reminded about living in the moment, half the fun is getting there. Iv picked up a few pearls of wisdom since I started following your RU-vid channel. Your special guest stars sharing some interesting philosophys here and there. It's more then just about lighting and scripts here in your forever evolving productions. My star struck great aunt Helen born in 1899 would tell me "Variety is the spice of life" you certainly are giving us that. My aunt Helen was exceptionally beautiful she was in her seventies when I started hanging out with her, I never heard of a "It Girl" until she was explaining how popular she was when she was younger. I said a it girl ? I never heard of that, she said a it girl, the girl that's got it . She made a reference to Mary Picford. Helen was of beautiful Belgian decent. She was a talented artist, songwriter, and love being in a mans world. She was divorced in 1920, when she was 20. She had a lot of boyfriends over the years, my great grandparents had a French Resort in Boyce Hot Springs in Sonoma here in northern California. She was very popular with the business men coming up from San Francisco. She invented a game in the 1940s she called Hollywood Pool Party. It was a board game where the player who attended the most pool parties as they went around the board was the winner. "They were flying off the shelves "she said, until that stupid war caused the paper and cardboard to be rationed and unavailable. That was the end of that. She also invented self lighting cigarettes, eight different ways to light them. Got a patent on them. Problem was they were to dangerous for shipping, if one pack went off it could be catastrophic. She ended up marrying another artist and they headed down your way, then off to Arizona where they painted desert scenes and sold them in their art gallery in Phoenix. She lived to be 83.

@@karenleemallonee684 it was like a episode out of the Waltons when I met her in the early 1970s. Her memory was a clear as Ralph Sendeskys. Her father was a coach designer in London around 1899 he was making the first cars for the Royal family. In 1909 they left England for Canada because the automotive industry was quickly changing,he was feeling obsolete. Canada was a mistake in 1915 he went to San Francisco to see the Panama Pacific International Exposition. He was recognized by people in the automotive industry there and it gave him a new lease on life he sent for the family in Edmonton never returning himself. He opened a body shops in San Francisco..he invented the Universal Lift, a large hydraulic jack that lifts the car up for servicing. He also invented the roll up car window, and introduced the slanted windshield. My aunt Helen was was raised in three different countries. Her story really got interesting starting in San Francisco in 1915 when she was 15. Her trip on a ship called the Empress of Ireland was also a eventful trip and n 1909, the ship hit a submerged shipwreck and started sinking. I'm 1915 the Empress of Ireland sank in the St Lawrence River in 18 minutes drowning over one thousand people. It collided with another ship on May 29 1914 in the fog while everyone was asleep in their cabins around 11 PM.

Hi Judy. Good to hear and see you again Bruce after all these yeats. Loved the "Shivaree" episode. You did a great job playing the "fish out of water " city boy . It reminded me of the college kids I knew from New York and other Eastern cities at my college in St. Louis. They were not pleased by the paucity of taxi's and busses that are so common in New York and Boston notr does St. Louis have a subway or EL. When we asked them why they just didn't pool their money and rent a car, we found out that none of them had driver's licenses. They had spent their lives riding on public transportation. Here in the Midwest kids as young as 12 are driving tractors on the roads, and kids usually have thier own cars or access to one beore they graduate from high school. Saw "Last Summer" back in the 60's and when Cathy Burns appeared on the Waltons I remembered her and Richard had been in the movie. I did not know that you were the other boy, I have to admit that I didn't like the movie. I hate seeing people being picked on as Cathy's character was. So happy you have done a segment featuring Bruce Davison, and he does still look good, and especially expresses himself with such vivacity. When you said the episode about Bob,I was thrilled, and remembered his character immediately. He was so,incredibly believable in this role,it did not seem like acting at all. I actually felt so sorry for him as he was put through the shivaree, and even preceding this,in his being adamant about not partaking in it. Actually,as you think about how many actors had several guest appearances on the Waltons, it is hard to believe that his character was killed off so soon. Can you perhaps shed any light on this Judy? Thank you, appreciate it.

Such wisdom. I’ve always benefitted by Mr. Davison’s work! One favorite I highly recommend, a great Christmas movie from 1977, “The Gathering”. ~Edward Asner, Maureen Stapleton, the entire cast, excellent actors! Many still laud this beautiful movie. I’m excited to hear more of your conversation together! So touching to see Mr. Davison’s wonderful painting, recognizable right away from “Jeremiah Johnson”. (A movie filmed near the time of casting The Waltons, as many know.) As a side note about how endearing Will Geer is, does anyone else become reminded of Burl Ives’ when hearing Will Geer? ;) (Contemporaries in many ways, Mr. Geer speaking often conjures up the claymation Snowman of Rudolph for me.) Another reminder I think is valuable: We don’t know if the movie “Philadelphia” (as Mr. Davison obliquely references regarding Tom Hanks) would have been made had “Longtime Companion” not reached audiences & been appreciated. Art ushers in future expanses of connection we cannot foresee. (Thanks also, & again, to Robert Redford’s and Sundance’s support.) Onward to more art & life championing. Thanks, Judy, and Mr. Bruce Davison

Why does the time go by so fast when listening to these interviews? You no sooner start and they are over in a flash. I look forward to hearing more from Bruce. Side note: I was at a Little House event last night in Lancaster, PA. A lady was dismissing tables. I asked who she was and she was one of the handlers. She said---and I hope I got her name correct, I think she said Starla. She said she's usually at Walton's events and asked me if I knew The Walton's. I said, of course I do and told her I subscribe to your RU-vid channel. She said, oh yes, I know Judy, a lovely person who is always working out. :) In my world, The Walton's and Little House are still the two best family dramas with wholesome family values. That is why I watch the reruns over and over again.
