I'm just now watching this interview. I always loved how they brought on characters that were related to other characters. Flossie Brimmer's character always seemed like just another neighbor until her phenomenal performance in The Firestorm. Flossie's niece playing a girlfriend for Jim Bob seemed so natural. Debbie you look amazing. We Waltons fans appreciate you!

Judy, thank you for the range of guests on your program and to see your reactions to their memories.Debbie,my parents emigrated from Ireland in the mid fifties and my mother had two sisters that lived in England. We were always excited when we would receive a box of treats or candy for the Christmas holiday each year and my father loved the plum pudding. Judy and Debbie thank you for the wonderful memories you created on The Waltons.

Having these cast members who were cast only once or maybe twice and sometimes as a different character is so much fun for us, the faithful viewers of the Waltons from way long ago, to see what they look like today, and to hear from their perspective how they thought about the Waltons and to hear what they share of their own personal memories of their one time spotlight on the Waltons that I want to make sure they all know they are loved and appreciated so much not only today but back then as well. Every person who showed up on the Waltons was a beautiful part of the intrigue and interest of the episode and we the faithful viewers were scrutinizing as well as enjoying every word and move and every prop or attire or hairstyle they used or wore, said or did. Thanks to Debbie Gunn and all those who reach out to be interviewed today on Judy's channel! ❤ You are adored!

Judy, thanks so much for creating the environment that engages Walton's alum sharing such beautiful stories! Debbie, thank you for sharing the story about the fan and light in the 'broom closet.' I can just picture that and love the behind-the-scenes imaginative creativity. I dont keep a FB account! I might have to set up an account just to engage with The Walton's Forum you mentioned! I thought it was special that Mrs Brimmer seemed to be lending a hand raising her niece ~ Patsy. Mrs Brimmer reminded me a lot of a very kind Pennsylvania Dutch neighbor woman whose children were grown. She helped take care of me for a time. So, I quite related to your Patsy character though nothing quite as glamorous as engaging with The Walton's. I can see you approaching the Camera operators and wanting to peek through the lense. Bright children are always curious to learn. I look forward to Part 2 of your interview with Judy! For the longest time I felt a bit of a quaint thing because I liked the Walton's so much. Judy, it's lovely learning there are so very many fans just as I am! "The world according to The Walton's..." Have a wonderful weekend both of you and Walton's everywhere! ❤

As Judy said, all of us have a shared love of the Waltons, whether it's a cast member from all the seasons or folks from behind the scenes. To paraphrase some of Earl Hamner's epilogues: Whenever I watch the Waltons I am instantly transported back to our home on Thursday nights, with my mother and sometimes my grandmother to enjoy a bygone time but also a sense of togetherness that I only truly appreciate now, all these years later.

@@judynorton2598 I just stumbled on your interview with Debbie and I was curious to see what she looked like after all these years. I wound up being a comedian and writer/director. My family watched your show every week growing up. So well written and a wonderful cast. Shows like yours and the 'Wonderful World of Disney' and 'Wild Kingdom'-- they're from a bygone era. They were shows families could enjoy together, but unfortunately today people are too cynical. I'm not sure families eat together and watch TV like we did anymore? You should be proud of the work you did-- 'The Waltons' still hold up and always will because the stories were about human behavior.

17:15- What a great story Miss Gunn told about her 'Nana' having lived in England through both World Wars and the unconventional Mr. Greer who himself had had a rather unsettled life for many years before he became Zeb (and not just the Blacklist times) on paper seemed as though they'd have had nothing in common but they bonded beautifully their mutual love of gardening. No doubt being able to grow beautiful plants likely had given each of them pride and accomplishment which possibly gave them strength to endure troubling and even chaotic times! Interesting that she felt a bond with the late Eileen McDonough (who also played Patsy) in spite of them being fated to never meet. It's not unlike how Pat Priest seems to have felt about Beverley Owen who'd played Marilyn Munster on the show before her (and, in fact, she even inherited the exact wardrobe) but the two would never meet before Miss Owen's own death a few years back. Regardless, she sure seemed to have learned few useful lessons from her time on 'The Waltons'- to say nothing of having had her fun performing the role! Miss Gunn talked about dreading having to participate with the others singing 'By the Light of the Silvery Moon' on the hayride. Well, since the evidently rather late '2nd run' showing of 'Naughty Marietta' was playing and it wasn't just a 'romantic' movie but a straight up musical that starred the operatic singer Jeannette MacDonald, Miss Gunn is lucky they didn't have her (and the other girlfriend) sing the rather overwhelming 'Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life' to tease/impress the brothers! Thanks so much for sharing with us your conversation with her.

Hi Judy, Debbie, like all of the cast members you interviewed are just so down-to-earth and it's a joy hearing their stories. I was just thinking the other day Judy. Many have told me that even when an actor is interviewing they are 'performing and acting' versus being themselves. I see none of that on all of the interviews you have had. To me they are just everyday people doing a job they love. But, I can also imagine if you really are a huge star (that 1 in a billion) that in that world you are just bombarded with constant pressure to be 'the star' and I can imagine the loneliness of such a world that can end as quickly as it begins where you have zero privacy. Zero time to yourself and are always having to live up to fan expectations. I wondered your thoughts on big stars. Are they just overwhelmed? Are they just so stressed because of the pressures of being a big star? Any thoughts? As always, thank you for this channel. It's a real treasure!

Debbie, I was so glad to see that you consented to speak to us. As Judy could tell you, I am a recent but nevertheless big fan of The Waltons and of Judy. I did not get to see the show when it was first on because I was busy with my own life with law school, the military, and a wife and kids in the nine years you were on. But now that I have retried from law practice and have been a shut in as a result of serious illness, watching the show and Judy's You Tube has been one of the few joys of my day. I do rememeber you from the episode of "The Rivalry" No one could forget that beautiful girl with a sweet smile and a picnic basket. Thats why I was somewhat surprised to see Jim Bob say that he forgot your date with him. But then I do also remember that he put Jennifer Jason Leigh on a bus out of his life. Now I know why the Air Force rejected him for bad eyesight. Judy, the familly needs to have an intervention with that boy concerning the opposite sex LOL. He needs to know that cars and planes are neat but they can't keep your feet warm on a cold winter's night or get up and cook breakfast in the morning. The minute I saw you in that role Debbie I was hoping that you would possibly be back as a regular. Unfortunately for me and the rest of the Walton audience it was not to be, so I am glad to know that you have had a full and happy since those days and I wish you the absolute best for the rest of what I hope is a long life. And Judy, thank you for doing all this for the fans of the show. I know that you are often up late answering or responding to all of our comments because I look at the time of your posts and subtract to hours to central time. Hell is full of lawyers (or soon will be from the sound of things ) and they have no need for me in Heaven because everyone's been forgiven. I think I'll just stay here for a while because I m starting to amass more girl friends from "The Waltons" than John Boy had. Well O. K. he had lots more but he lost them all but one and it took a reunion show to get that one.

@@billgrandone3552 Oh Bill, you are a real delight!! Excuse me for having a good laugh! I love your sense of humor and sounds like you've got this! COPD is tough. My mom's oldest friend is struggling with it. Thanking God you made it in 2019 and 4 years later I get to meet you here! So glad The Waltons is part of your joy! Thank you for writing me here. It’s interesting to see people’s faces light up as they talk about those days on the Waltons. It was a very special tv show to watch and a very special moment in people’s lives to have been on the set and having a part in a story. It had the perfect cast and writers and production crew. They caught lightning in the bottle. I guess I’ll never understand Richard Thomas wanting to leave the show back then. There was still so much more they could have done with John-Boy. But I think he was going through his own personal excitement of actually getting to do different things. If it was me playing John-Boy, I never would’ve given up that role. With everyone else that I would have worked with, they’d all be like an extended family and that would have made all the difference in doing the job.

I can just see John-Boy cruzing around in a wheelchair ... at 120 years old, still being called "John Boy"

Lovely interview!! So sweet and touching! You have such a nice way of interacting with Debbie, really letting her recollect and express herself. She is a kind soul too… I would pray with her any time! Keep creating all of you! Thank you, Judy, for doing this! I see your “followers” growing as more people learn about it! You continue to touch our souls and our lives in magical ways! THANK YOU! Many Blessings to you all!! 🙏🏻😊🦋🌸💗 PS I loved the Patsy character too, and would have loved to have seen more of her! “Meeting” Debbie now is a real treat! She has wonderful recollections and great personal family stories too. Really enjoyed this interview. Thank you both!

I believe the "Naughty Marietta" poster was also outside of the movie theatre when Ep, Sarah, John and Olivia double dated. I don't recall the season or the name of the episode, but it's worth looking up. AND I loved this interview with Debbie.

Will planted and took care of the gardens on the set. After he passed away, what happened to the gardens? Did some else plant them for different shows in later seasons. I so enjoy watching your videos!

Others cared for the gardens - likely the “greens” dept. After the series ended, I’m not sure if they were maintained at all.
