Crazy that you can end someone's career just by accusing them of a crime with zero evidence. Maybe he's guilty maybe he isn't, but right now and indefinitely his career is basically done.
Once allegations like this are leveled, you're done regardless of guilt or innocence. Look at what happened with Bauer. No MLB team would touch him, and those were less egregious charges than child molestation.
Kobe r*ped a girl and is beloved. Wander had a *better reputation going into this than Trevor did, and that matters more than most people take into account. Maybe not amongst us dorks in the comment section but to the people making the decisions it does.
Bauer is different. Players hated him because of his weird attitude and non-standard training methods, and MLB officials hated him, for blatantly calling out and demonstrating sticky stuff to the public.
He was still playing and had his best season every and came out as innocent I think this is gonna change how MLB views this such of thing if he comes out as innocent it also shows how obscurely old baseball is because back in the 2000s Kobe was still playing with these charges kinda shows you how fragile the MLB is
The Basabe callup seems to be purely coincidental. Wander played 40 straight games and needed a day off. It happens that Wanders day off was the day the allegations came out. Our backup SS Taylor Walls is already on IL. They never sent Basabe back down because of it.
They have too. They have a team to run, and at this point they need to assume they're not getting him back. And that association with him like having banners with him on it make them look pretty bad. If a day comes he somehow gets cleared, they can maybe then alter their plans again. But until such a thing would happen as a team and a business they need to make decisions to fix their team now under the assumption Franco never plays for them again.
This is like when my roommate in the Army was arrested for soliciting minors. I had no idea who he was talking to or going out with and seeing even though he was my roommate. The things he was saying to 13-14 year olds was truly horrifying
Or just pursue adult women respectfully in normal circumstances. No drugs, reasonable alcohol, get to know a person before sleeping with them. Ya know, adult behavior.
If Wander has 2 -3 mistresses ~ he has a hundred.... in every city across the globe. That is how these guys roll ~~in their Bentleys. A couple of 14 year olds are just the tip of the ice berg. These guys don't hang out at church on Sundays... they live at the strip joints behind the red felt ropes.... and most everybody knows it.
Glad I didn't buy any of his cards on ebay, I only have what I opened in packs which is basically $50 total amongst all cards which is basically nothing compared to my other cards. I just hope my actual investment players don't tank lol
he's done, guilty or not. The accusations killed his career, but if honestly those pics at the beginning of the video are of the minor (her face should be blurred out if it is her) she looks like a child. There is no way that he looked at her and said to himself "she's 18", because that is a child. But his career is over
have you not seen her photos that are out all over social media? with her cake on makeup she can easily pass as a 18yr ... now thats just the pics though , can only guess franco was around her with her makeup off where she looks more in the 15/16yr range ,, so he still should of been asking for ID & birth certificate proof to be on the safe side
@@jamesford4815makeup or not its very easy to tell who’s a minor and who isn’t… even in those pics she looks like a child, just with makeup caked on her
i have not looked for the pics, i have only seen the pics posted here. The sad part is that Franco didn't have anyone around to tell him "it's not right", i know that he is grown but he should had people to try and protect him from himself
@@Michael-lu2tzno, it's not easy. Girls are influenced by social media. They try to act grown and look grown. I'm not justifying this but lets not act like they are innocent. Guys get accused with alot of stuff. Let it play out before making a judgment call.
At this point, I don't think it'll matter if he's proven innocent (which looks less and less likely with each passing day). His career is over. No team will want to be associated with him. All you have to do is look at the Trevor Bauer situation.
MLB wanted Bauer out of the league before any accusations. They just used it as a reason to say " yes we can finally get him gone ". That's my opinion anyway.
Bauer made Dodgers money this year. If he played in MLB, he wouldn't have been able to make a dime more. By going to Japan, he makes his Dodgers salary PLUS the $4 million the Japanese team is paying him. He wasn't black balled, he made a financial decision
That’s so unfortunate all around. While Franco clearly has done wrong, what a shame that the girl’s mother pawned her off in exchange for money. He’ll need to learn Japanese now. Lol. Damn.
You’re blaming the MOTHER? What do you mean “pawned her off for money”? What is your source for this. I’m really curious about your accusation that money was exchanged.
As a Dominican, I can 100% tell you this is extortion! A lot of young girls, like doing this in D.R. and I can tell you a 14 year old can easily pass for an 18-21 year old in D.R.
@@whitegravybeats5103he definitely put himself in this situation there is a 3:1 ratio of women to men you gonna tell me out of all the women in DR he just so happened to be messing w a minor?! Please. This the norm in DR and he got caught and looks like a idiot he is for the whole world to see.
You’re a high profile professional athlete who made it and you don’t know you’re a target?? You still put it all on the line for a piece of strange ass?? Stupidity is rewarded in such ways. 🤷🏻♀️
Personally reserving judgement until I learn more, but I got the sense that the Rays org. learned enough to think that, legally, things aren't going to go in Franco's favor the moment they took his posters down (and not a moment sooner).
I can (almost) give him a pass for getting 'tricked' once, maybe being a little too trusting of someone who misrepresented their age, along with their parents knowledge/consent. But this complaint from the second girl definitely doesn't bode well for his future prospects.
As a Rays fan I’ll say this. I hope he at least thought she was 18 - if the investigation shows the story is true… even if he THOUGHT she was 18 and she isn’t, then he’s guilty and it’s a sad situation to see such a talent go to waste. But if he KNEW she wasn’t 18, then that’s just vile. That being said… man I hope she’s 18 lol, I bought a Wander Jersey a few months ago.
If Franco is guilty, I say punish him. However, if the allegations are false or Franco was misled, then the mother of the girl should be held accountable and thrown in jail for extortion.
Even if the girl's mother said she is 18 it really means nothing. It's on him to make sure the women he has sex with are 18 or older. If you have no way to know then just stay away. Also, who even asks the parents if their daughter is 18? That's a red flag right there. Not to mention that Wander is already married.
There are so many different reports coming out. I would think if he knew she is underage that he wouldn't have been posting photos on Instagram. I don't know it is hard to know what is true and what isn't
@@rileyesmayexcept there's actual proof of what Franco did. Doesn't matter if he didn't know she wasn't 18. He should have. There was never any proof that Bauer did anything. On the contrary, there was video of her the next morning, in his bed smiling and taking selfies.
@Reflektionz007 For sure, I don't think it's cool at all that he was with a minor, but something doesn't seem right. Like you said though, who knows because it's hard to tell what evidence is true or not, and if it will mean anything when it comes to trial
That point doesn't work though, he didn't post the photos, it was an account accusing him that did. Jomboy did a really good video explaining all the details, it doesn't look good at all. Got guilty written all over it.
If a girl tells me that she is 18 and her PARENTS VERIFIED THAT SHE WAS 18, how can you blame me for not knowing that she was actually 14,? Whether you agree or not, these alleged events took place in the Dominican. Apparently this isn't a crime there as he has not been charged nor have they requested extradition . These are allegations so we don't know if any of these are true. I go back to the rookie NFL kicker who got released immediately after allegations came out that he participated in a rape at his college while he attended there and was a kicker there. A year later we found out that those allegations against him were FALSE, but now his NFL career is ruined. Meanwhile the accuser can go on with her life. How fair is that?
Mom should be held accountable. Franco should too. The whole thing is gross because its not some one time thing - there are multiple under age girls. Hes done.
In terms of the first girl, how is it his fault if the girl and her mother both lied to him? Are people supposed to check government ID cards and obtain birth certificates before they go on a date with someone now? If he truly didn't know and was gaslighted by the mother, then it is 100% only the mother's fault.
Okay but there's more than one girl. Additionally there are a slew of photos out that show that without her makeup on she is clearly a child. Like a little ass kid man. If you're attracted to that kind of thing or you could be fooled by that kind of thing is because that's what you want.
Do you know when the relationship between he and the first girl took place and how old each were at that time? I heard this "kid" has a kid herself and am wondering if maybe it is his possibly? Either way, that poor child having a mother who obviously dangled her daughters ass for money and convinced her daughter to sell her ass for money is about as digusting as what he has done. Thats if he knew she was a minor. Doesnt look good at all for either him or the mother, but nobody will touch the mother motst likely.
The instagram allegations hold no water for me. Only when the money dries up do you accuse him of being a pedo. That is not someone seeking justice that is someone going scorched earth because they couldn't milk the cash cow anymore. On the other hand, what concerns me is the other person that came forward, not on instagram but went to the DR police and filed a report.
Whether they are milking the cash cow or not, his need and desire to associate with young girls is disgusting. I don't care if he's getting extorted or not if he actually did it. And he did.
@@cheyenne11114 nobody knows anything yet you’ve convicted him in your head. This is why there needs to be criminal consequences to false allegations, no matter what happens it’s impossible to come back from something like this.
Just throwing this out there, but how do we know for sure that the original mother doesn’t have involvement with the second girl too. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all linked
@@strange-universe the laws in the Dominican Republic set 18 at the age of consent. He's a twenty-two-year-old grown ass man. No twenty-two-year-old grown-ass man should be associating with anybody under the age of 18. Much less 14 15 or 16.
@@stopitdad69 what do you mean nobody knows anything? There is a slew of evidence of him associating with girls who were wearing hello Kitty backpacks sometime within the last year-and-a-half LOL I agree that false allegations should reap some kind of serious punishment. And if by some miracle he was cleared of this, not just in the courts but from an actual available evidence standpoint I would take everything I've said back and look like a jerk. That ain't going to happen buddy. At this point everybody in Latin America knows he's guilty, so does MLB and the rays.
Why haven’t people learned when Felipe Vasquez from the Pirates did something eerily similar and if Bauer is getting blackballed from the league there is no way he comes back the same it’s a lot different than Tatis taking steroids it’s a shame Franco really threw away a career for what something that he had to at least have some common sense knowing it’s illegal.
Well Vazquez was guilty of this, he even admitted to it. MLB wanted Bauer gone and he was also a terrible teammate that no one wants to be with. So if Wander is innocent, he'll be back.
@@alexandervargas79 I mean terrible teammates are kind of standard look at Verlander and we’ll see I hope the best for Franco but with how the league treated Puig, Starlin Castro, Vazquez, and other but I do agree the situations are different the MLB usually like to bury crisis as fast as possible just basic PR moves now we shall see.
3:14 so.... I've been saying since it started becoming the new trend a few years ago.... but throwing this huge 10 for 150-250 million dollar deals at these 19 and 20 year old kids just isn't a good idea.... besides the gamble organizations are taking that they play up to said contract and aren't just a flash in the pan or become seriously injured, we now have Wander Franco to remind us that some of those kids have some off field issues on their closets
Just goes to show that it is better to be monk mode these days. The juice from any of these 304s out there today isn't worth the squeeze; much less your attention. Leave them to their own devices boys!
If Franco knew the girl was a minor, why would he post pictures of them together on Instagram??. Also this girl has a 2 year old child. Major blackmailing scheme by the mother in my opinion and Franco was too stupid to fall right into her trap, he should have verified her age via documentation, may seem a bit excessive but he has a freeeakkking 180 million dollar contract and he is from the DR where there is immense poverty in general. I personally think he will be found innocent but in today's Manfred run MLB which is run like a dictatorship, he has NO chance of finding stable playing time with any team. Tragedy all around.
Ill say it. Because its true. I was anxious everytime I saw Franco hit at Fenway. Come to think of it. Reminds me of watching Julio Franco the way he torqed that bat. Its really disappointing but he doesn't deserve to represent MLB.
Not very informed on the subject , but is it possible that he was 17 or 18 at the time these things happened ? If he’s been playing in u.s. for a few years now , what are the chances that this happened when he himself was a minor ?
Luis Polonia when he was with the Yankees was charged with statutory rape in Milwaukee when hooking up with a minor that he met in a club. All these athletes are targets of these groupies. Pretty sure they have orientations about this and they still succumb to these dangers.
you really gotta learn to transition from content to asking for people to subscribe in a smoother and more natural way. I watch a lot of your videos, and it's never a natural transition. I don't care you ask for people to subscribe, you deserve subs, but just something to think about.
@@eddief9254 Completely disagree. It simply doesn't occur to a lot of people to hit subscribe. Having a channel here is kinda like sales; you've gotta ask for it to get it. While I think Aaron's criticism was constructive, I don't find that to be the case with yours. "Cringe"? WTF? He is asking if you would consider subscribing. Ever watch PBS? What do they do instead of commercials? They ask for donations. It's been going on for decades and decades. Keep up the good work iTalk, and keep soliciting so you maximize what you get back from your videos.
If these allegations are false, he is screwed anyway. And that isn't right. If these allegations are true, screw him. And I hope he gets what he deserves. The ability to hit a curveball doesn't give you a right to be a pedophile. It is unacceptable.
Sad that allegations from someone basically makes people guilty. I'm not saying the allegations are not serious but trial by media is simply not fair. We have had many instances where trial by media has caused damage and injury like the Michael Brown (holding hands up) gesture that was simply not true after seeing the facts play out in court and the mentioning of Michael Brown and breaking the officer's face and him just finishing a strong arm theft doesn't play to the narrative so it isn't repeated over and over like the "hands up, don't shoot". The narrative always is more interesting to media than the truth as they usually don't come back on and sensationalize the truth after the court case. You can't un-ring the ringing of a bell.
But there are much more than allegations. There is specific evidence that ties him to it. As a Spanish speaker I am telling you that there is specific evidence that ties him to this. You need to go outside of the US media and make sure that you get some takes from the Dominican Republic. He's done and good riddance
@@cheyenne11114 That is my point though. At this point you are only given any evidence in the media to support a narrative. I'm not saying he isn't or it's guilty, we don't know yet. Yet the media has already made it so that you think he is guilty already, no different than what the media did for the police officer and Michael Brown case. Duke lacrosse team is another example where the women lied. Again, he could be guilty or not, we just don't know
@@cheyenne11114 It doesn't matter, he's innocent until proven guilty. If there's a bunch of evidence then ruin his career AFTER he's proven guilty, not before it.
@@bobbygetsbanned6049 no I'm good. And if that's really how you feel then don't have children. If you don't understand the Gap and brain development or think that is not an issue and that it should be handled by the courts, just stay the f*** away from kids please
I heard from my brother that the girl in the picture was indeed a minor at the time they were together, but apparently so was he since he was 17. How true that is, idk, but if that's true regardless his career is ruined, which sad tbh. The second girl idk anything about, so that's whole other situation.
Had Franco bother to finish high school, he would have learned the basics about the laws of the land, and reading and writing… but who needs to learn those things when a playing a dumb game can make you rich?
After multiple allegations of this kind of behavior, an employee of any other business would be gone. Fired. Finished. But because he rakes in millions of dollars for his employer ... well, let's give the kid the benefit of the doubt, right? We see it time and time again. Professional sports leagues and teams contorting themselves to keep their options open instead of firing the employee as any other business would do. It's what you get when you let money dictate morality.
Reserve judgement until this investigation is over Remember this, Wander had a wife and two kids, and a lucrative mlb contract Best case scenario: he’s being extorted
What? You guys don't need a player like Franco? Maybe there were rumors of this in the clubhouse that affected the team's play since the All-Star break. I know, there were injuries to key pitchers but this seems too much of a coincidence. I got to think some teammates knew. It's a shame seeing another good player throw his talents away.
The main problem why would he let them come to his house start family disputes and now ask for him for money or else they wont leave his house and wont leave him alone and he let them come in his home for no reason
Rays Front Office: "Sigh......guys.....i know we dont EVER pay big contracts, were always extra careful and frugal with our money.....but this Wander Franco kid huh?? C'mon guys, lets take a chance!! I really don't understand him at all. Not only was he dating underage girls, but he was putting the evidence of it out there for all to see. Seems almost suicidal.
Sad!!! These kids need more supervision...Too much money....MLB needs to take part responsibility..... baseball always has too many what should of been unavoidable tragedies....
The Rays will never spend big on a player ever everrrrr again. Also it's really easy to not get involved with a child. That girl looks like a child, if he knew that "mother approved" then he knew he was in a relationship with a child. It's so easy to not be involved with a child.
Posted this when you first brought. Even if you think she’s 18 I think it’s kind of weird … when I hit my twenties I wasn’t dealing with anyone with teen in their age
They don't call it "jail bait" for nothing. It'll be interesting to see if the Rays will be able to void or at the least buy out his absurd contract, which averages like 20 million until 2033. Teams just can't seem to stop themselves from giving out these ridiculously long, bloated contracts. They must be making more money than they're letting on.
@@soulknife20 , yes, like "morals clauses." But they might just choose to buy it out with a reduced amount to avoid any protracted legal battles since he'd likely sue, especially if he avoids any criminal prosecution in his home country, which is a possibility.
Oh boy are they ever !! I took a class with HOWARD COSELL as my teacher and you are absolutely right. MLB is awash in backdoor deals and illegal money making .
