The War in October' is a landmark, three-part documentary series, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Arab-Israeli War.
The story of the war has never been thoroughly explored. What exactly happened in those three weeks in October 1973? Both Arabs and Israelis still claim to be the victors today.
The films feature men and women who planned and fought in the three-week war that took place on both the Egyptian and Syrian fronts. Egyptians, Israelis, Syrians and other participants in the Iraqi, Jordanian, Algerian, Moroccan and Palestinian militaries are all included. The series also hears from diplomats and defence officials from the U.S., the former Soviet Union and Europe.

They fought multiple armies and still lost less than them… the Arabs goal was to conquer Israel and the Sinai they failed both goals. This war is just another embarrassment for the Arab coalition and don’t cry and say it’s because Israel had western help when Arabs had the entire Soviet Union helping them as well. It's interesting looking at the vocabulary used by some of the interviewees. Some seemed to take great pride in using (and quite often) the words humiliate or humiliated. There is something about that type of mentality that I find disturbing. Anyway, a great story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Good work!

[21:50} Capt Moataz El Sharqawy commented - "The lieutenant and the commander of the the stronghold were among six officers and a medical officer. He saluted our commander and lowered the Israeli flag, folded it, put his gun on it and handed it to him. He raised the Egyptian flag and they saluted it. I was tearful and so happy. And thinking if I were him, I'd kill myself." Well, barely 2 weeks later, the Egyptian army was defeated thoroughly and almost annihilated too. So did the Capt and his superiors kill themselves? This Capt obviously doesn't understand the creed of a professional soldier & gentleman officer.

America's forceful intervention in the war with Israel against Egypt certainly helped Israel prevent Israel's defeat If the war had continued, it would have been a massacre for both sides because the Israeli forces were in a gap between the Third Army and the Second Egyptian Army. The Soviet Union began sending weapons to Egypt.

Secondly, the Egyptian army killed hundreds of Palestinian extremists, whether from Hamas or Jihad, in its war on terrorism in Sina.
