One small correction to what Einat said. "After 1948, the lands that were no longer theirs" (the Holy Land Muslim Palestinian Arabs)... It was NOT in 1948 that "their lands were no longer theirs". But no, It was at the end of ww1, when the Ottoman Empire was defeated by Britain and France, and disolved, that "their lands" were no longer theirs" --Just like many people in the defeated Austria-Hungarian Empire's lived on lands that were no longer theirs. Just like the people Mohammed conquered found that their lands were no longer theirs. That's what ALWAYS happened when you lose wars. Nothing special. HOWEVER, The Brits failed to make that fact clear to the Arabs in the Holy Land when they took over with the mandate. All they had to do was say, "we the victors of ww1 hereby divide this land between Arabs and Jews: The Arab half shall be called Jordan, and the Jewish half shall be called Israel... All inhabitants now go to the religiously appropriate half." But they didn't do that. They instead carved off Jordan and prematurely gave it to outsiders..Hashemites..who should not have even been in the running..thereby turning what SHOULD have been the remaining Jewish half ..Into an eternal battleground for Arab claims that Jordan land should have satisfied... So when the Arab Muslim half had already been created in Jordan, which SHOULD have been the new home for ALL Arab Muslims in the area, plus any Muslim newcomers ...Just as LIKEWISE, the Jewish half (all but Jordan) SHOULD have been designated for Jews in the area, plus any desireous jewish newcomers. Simply put, the British victors F'd up. At great cost in blood and treasure, they won ww1, and then pissed away the authority over the area they so dearly earned thereby.
