TRIGGER WARNING - Some viewers may find some of the themes discussed in this documentary distressing.
The War on PTSD is a 23-minute documentary-style film that reveals first-hand accounts from Scottish veterans that have produced a powerful narrative covering themes of mental health and the current system in place for veteran after-care in Scotland and how it can be improved upon.
I completed this film as part of my final year dissertation for my journalism degree and it is my first attempt at any real filmmaking! I'm very grateful to each interviewee who managed to spend a day with me to film this project -it's something I feel extremely passionate about. Despite the current situation the world is in right now, I hope that one day some light can be shed on this issue, as veterans in this country are still suffering in silence.
Due to coronavirus, some of the interviewees I planned to include were no longer able to be included due to social distancing but I hope to follow up with them once this is all over.
I'd like to thank Steve, Simon, George, Samantha and Adeline for participating in the film and for telling their stories so honestly with me. Their input can hopefully make a difference to veterans all over the country.
Thanks for watching :)
