How do you do an evil campaign right?

@@teo-7242 Revenge story is pretty easy to follow if done well, but giving them a motive that's easy to understand why it's happening and doesn't require jumping through hoops to follow. Also if people argue if the villian is justified or not is a pretty good point too.

@@teo-7242 For an RTS theres a few things I look out for. Its a bit hard to explain but lets try to compare this to Command and Conquer. In CnC3, one of the factions is Nod. It's a terrorist organization thats the bad guy by assignment. And mostly just by assignment. The missions and cutscenes make it clear that you're not the good guys, but apart from that theres not much for the player to engage with thats particularly villainous. You use flamethrowers and chemical weapons, suicide bombers and the likes, but you don't really do anything super nasty like attack civilian villages like in previous CnC games. In Firestorm for example you got a mission for this faction to drug some civilians to get them to lure some mutants into a village to destroy it outright, but this is just set dressing, and isn't applicable outside of this one mission. In WC3 the Undead basically require you to play nasty and encourage you to do so. Ghouls aren't the strongest frontline fighters, but they can heal fast if you feed them the corpses of your enemies. You get your siege weapon early in the campaign, because it serves as faction utility by preserving and transporting corpses for your faction to use. And then you get necromancers later which can use corpses to mass summon skeletons that don't eat into your upkeep like other units do, meaning you can field larger armies for less. This alone is pretty nasty but the campaign lets you, and even tells you at times to burn civilian buildings down and slaughter them. And theres a gameplay reason to do this, because the unit that was killed does not matter for these abilities. You actively benefit by killing civilians in gameplay from a mechanics perspective, something that really isn't seen in other games that let you play an undead faction, making this one stand out all the more. Also just the generally high quality writing I used to associate with Blizzard.

@@rndm_pr9269 People have uploaded the files online, it's a little tricky though because the game tries to auto-update to latest version if it connects to the internet. There are guides on how to set it up properly.

@@augustday9483 I got the original Reign of Chaos, but I don't think getting the original Frozen Throne is possible anymore.

The purge was absolutely required, All the civilians turn if you don’t purge them. Uther and Jaina provided no alternative. Arthas didn’t fall into evil until he betrayed the mercs who fought for him.

@@Skullhawk13 There's a reason I mentioned the Undead Campaign there as well. Since that's pretty much the peak of Arthas' descent.

@@Endersoul-tx1of arguably not his fault though. Frostmourn stole his soul the second he touched it.

@@Skullhawk13 and now they make it seem as if arthas himself was not a victim and only the perpetrator. They forgot that he was a vessel of one's will as much as Silvana's.

@@leonardoeneria3100 also by the merit of giving us to PLAY as "bad guys" we had a perfect understanding of their motivations and objectives. It wasn't even "we are evil just because" - everyone on "bad" side had their own reasons and their own plans. As a result because of this - for example, Arthas backstabbing Burning Legion and telling Illidan where Skull of Gul'dan is during Night Elf campaign didn't look sudden or as him turning sides... No, instead you clearly knew it came from him working to further Lich King's own agenda... Because UNDEAD CAMPAIGN gave you proper context. Man, storytelling was so good in WC3...

Archimonde is way easier to kill than Cenarius in sitiation given. Or u can just cheat and kill them. >D

I have killed Cenarius without chais to see what happens, he dies then revives and the orcs say its not working or something like that, u will need to kill him with chaos to advance the stage

@@lad4830 seems that i played an older version, i also killed grom hellscream by poison wyverns without interacting with him by my main characters, and he just split into 4 and fully heals, so only killed by story progression

What about the endless custom campaigns? there are incredible ones with lots of lore and voice lines as well as OST from WoW like Rise of the Bloodelves, its superb af. At the end you literally even do the Sunwell Raid but with your heroes and some army, its superb

Arthas was doing everything in his powers to contain the outbreak with no cure on hand. Jaina and Uther going "Oh what have you done" after purge when both didn't do anything and just left Arthas to handle everything by himself is top hypocrisy on their part. And while Jaina can be excused as she was magician prodigy but not a hardened veteran and it is understandable she could falter in her judgment and leave unable to bear witness to what has to be done... Uther who was ORDERED by King himself if not to go along with what Arthas does but at least look after Arthas and prevent him from jumping into danger or obvious traps (like trip to Nortrend) - he instead not only left his post... HE ALSO TOOK HALF OF THE ARMY WITH HIM - putting next successor to the crown into a situation where he has to purge the city, fight off zombie horde and Lord of Dread's troops at the same time WITH HALF OF THEIR ARMY MISSING. Heck if second half of the army was there maybe purge would've went more smoothly and some non-infected people could've been identified and saved by the merit of them being able to process situation twice as fast and having veteran Paladin/Healer on hand...

But beware buddy ! I've people say that if you go on battle net with the original cd's , the war3reforged bnet will corrupt your original cds!

Pirate the classic WC3 version and play offline - best option Otherwise you will be more or less forced to buy reforged.

Reforged is not terrible. Just not as good as the original, unfortunately.

@@G00N3YC4NG It wouldn't be an issue if they blocked access to the (untouched) original with forced updates, not to mention you have to buy Reforged to get the copy of the original...

@@SpecShadow It sucks bad, man. Truly a company that has lost all sembalnce of what it once was. I bought reforged because I'm a sucker, and I wanted to replay a custom game that I knew was being "remade" for reforged called Twilight's Eve ARPG. Btw I highly recommend Twilight's Eve if you are looking for a really fleshed out custom game RPG within warcraft.

I hope so. After games like Warcraft, Age of Empires/Mytology, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Diablo I and II...every game I play seems boring AF, I always go back to them from time to time or play some shitty MMORPG.
