One of your very best videos. Insightful, clear, punchy and timely. You asked us to comment warbands we wished you'd talked about. For me: my beloved Khorne Bloodhound. They are constantly ignored in content creator vids but they seem to climbing the tier list rankings slowly but steadily despite no real changes to them. You've got them mid B+ tier, but this puts them at the 20th spot overall. Are the moving up just because other warbands are falling?
@stevenbean297 lhorne has one of the battle traits that actually does something, which is cool. Also, with move-5 chaff, they complement Vexmor decently well, which is a big deal in Chaos these days. Finally a lot of the chaff that just embarrassed Bloodreavers on pt for pt efficiency all got nerfed. Oh and they have decently costed b8g hitters in Gorehulk and Khorgi
With beastflayers and inflicting damage, one thing I will say is that I actually did a surprising amount of work just with the ghouls. If you can push two unactivated ghouls into an activated model using your baron then their double attacks are 12/3/1/3 which just grinds stuff down, and you have pack tactics there as this really reliable way to tell you when to stop - you push the ghouls into one target, grind it down and then you pack tactics to finish it off, and the rest of your time you can start setting up for the next turn or grinding down the next target - it's a nice way of avoiding waste because the pack tactics damage is so predictable.
Awesome vid as always! As a GSG player I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on mollog being silly and some good units to run with him since i just got one painted up.
@philliphigdon3167 i think Mollog with +1attack blessing, 2 sneaky snufflers, Prog, and Snirk Sourtongue (any Fanatic can proxy as him) is the start of something good. What you do with the remaining 350 or so is a tougher question.
@@thesaltyseagamesI'd recommend to check Grinkrak's Looncourt. Snorbo Da Spore can help Mollog get around with his ability, while Skolko and Pronk have a somewhat reliable ranged attack. With the remaining points you could double down on Sneaky Snuffler or take a Zarbag Squig for a chaff hunter.
Aim for 8 bodies with 2 rat ogres/stormfiends, 2-3 70 point models to use the battle trait, and a leader that does something independently (I think a master moulder puts too much reliance on the ogres being played just right)
The state of the recent bespokes feels bad for bringing in new players who like the look, or got them for an aos army and want to try the game. But skaven may be a much better onramp w skaventide swarms
When I left Warcry a couple years ago Skaven were busted. When I stop in to check on the game, Skaven are still busted. What is it about this faction that GW just can't quit?
Re: Skaven playstyle I can vouch for them being much tougher to pilot in 2.0, as you didn't have the luxury of 10-11 ultra-cheap, fast bodies and had to play very cagey to preserve your model count when you were already at a disadvantage. I thought it was a nice challenge though. You essentially have to play like a Skaven and use your tricks and mobility to pick unfair fights and run away from fair fights.
@@warrenconnell4612 glad to hear you've found the same thing. I agree the playstyle is odd at first but very flavorful. Have you tried them with the BT yet? I think you'll like em.
I am curious about the reasoning behind S2D in B- vs B+ or A. I think Sybarites have replaced them as the best home for Vex and Destruction has gotten even better at fielding things that your Varanguard has to be afraid of. Haven't played them since the FAQ so take everything I say with a bucket of salt but I have a hard time believing that the best S2D lists losing one marauder is enough to take them out of A. Played a lot of them pre-FAQ and a lot games I won I had a marauder that didn't really do much all game beside wait. Marauders always played like 70pt fighters and I think other factions getting better probably hurts them more than the actual nerf.
@femmecactus4630 I'm a big believer in the efficiency of one's cheapest fighters being a secret driver of performance, but you're right that in some ways they read as Scions with a better leader now. I'll be curious to see if folks keep trying them.
Our local S2D innovator was playing a lot of 7-man lists prior to Vexmor. He was doing pretty well, but finally getting him to play 8-models was a big deal (along with Vex and Theridons of course). He was already going to retire S2D but I'll try to talk him into picking it back up again. Or I'll just update my copy.
@@warrenconnell4612 I was playing a 9 model list before the nerf so I could definitely see how if you were playing 7-8 previously the nerf would feel much more impactful
To add some context. You have them at B-, however their win rate and player numbers are both on the lower end. I know from my experience that they have very useful chaff and abilities, but why isn't that translating into a better win rate? Have players just not cracked the code on them?
@Coolduff. so... they have a ton of great tools, and some terrible traps, with no undercosted "get out of jail free" fighters that let you afford to be undisciplined and still win. So Imo their bad winrate is bc it's so hard to resist just running one or two dogdoo fighters in your warband.
@@thesaltyseagameswhat's the reasoning for being so up on the Stormcast Trait but not in sylvaneth? My current thoughts are SCE battle trait isn't an ability, so you can get away with using it on a M4 1" reach fighter The fighters you would use it on are just more efficient in SCE (Reclusian vs Scythemaster, for example) The supporting cast around the fighter you would use the BT on are better (So many Stormcast options vs lackluster revenants)
Would really like to hear your thoughts about CoS: castelite hosts and optimal roster for competitive play. I want to try something like this, built around their reaction. But I’m not sure how good their reaction in current meta with huge heavy hitters with 30 wounds. ``` ---------- Warband Roster 1 000pts | 9 fighters - Fusil-Major on Ogor Warhulk (245pts, Hero) - Freeguild Marshal with Duelling Pistols (150pts, Hero) - Freeguild Fusilier (120pts) x2 - Freeguild Command Corps Great Herald (105pts) - Freeguild Command Corps Whisperblade (80pts) - Freeguild Steelhelm (60pts) x3
@janschulte8434 so let's say u have 6 arkanauts, for 330pts. Let's also say you have at least 2 durable allies that can hit stuff, and they can run up front and bear the brunt of your opponents offense. Arkanauts can still get attacks in from positions that other chaff can't, so you get to just count on 18-30 damage over the course of the game from your chaff that other factions don't get to count on.
