Faster line speed and lower amp draw compared to the first 2 generations but the EVO series fail in comparison to the first 2 generations in pulling power as the spool fills up the max pulling capacity drops off drastically.

you are totally correct.. so, maybe buy the 12k# winch if you want a 10k# winch.?. i am more worried about the quality and longevity of the new stuff (but i am old school)

OK received my new VR EVO 10 no bolts to mount the winch to the winch plate or nuts Also dead battery in the wireless controller called Warn refused to give me anything. So customer support doesn’t mean that. They don’t give you what they promised!! Never heard of a company that doesn’t stand behind their products. Guy from customer support told me to go to the hardware store. And buy the battery on Amazon!! Why they couldn’t design the thing with normal batteries when you’re out in the middle of nowhere. I have no clue this is a very special battery 3.7 V lithium poly. And the damn thing is not rechargeable. So you can’t buy it at the grocery store or hardware store. And then you find out this winch is not American made. At there factory. This is Chinese just like all the other winches!! Thanks Warn for nothing!!
