A trio of 17, 15 & 12 year olds wrote a concept album around 2017 & recorded it in 2018 as their 2nd venture at the studios. Don't think that has happened before. Generational talents.
This performance is Dany putting on her musical theater hat. They are playing Queen of the Murder Scene, a concept album that follows the journey of a woman's unrequited love. A journey that starts with infatuation and ends with murder. Dany does a wonderful job of capturing the character's desperation, and descent into rage fueled madness. This show was meant to portray the state of mind, which does not call for perfect vocals, but wild and unhinged expressions of the woman's state of mind. It is a masterful performance imo.
Also, from watching the vlog regarding Chapter 1, it does sound as if Dany wrote this independently from Pau's developing concept. It fit so well, including the use of "Queen" that they quickly incorporated it. The one fact I'm sure of is that it is entirely Dany's. The timing was perhaps after Pau initially introduced the idea and the elder sister ran with it.
Dany's voice wavers in all the right places. I've heard reactors who criticized her and said she was "off pitch," but it fits the character. When you're going crazy, you have to sound crazed! The only time she breaks character is after a song ends and she smiles at the applause.
This is the second song from their rock opera Queen of the Murder Scene. It introduces the character of The Queen, a personality inside the protagonist who is awakened by the infatuation she has by her Crush. Pau plays the girl's good side, and Dany plays the evil Queen. She embodies her this entire show.
The three sisters are all the band members Luis and Mony (Dad & Mom) provided. They have said that they get along great. The only time they fight is while they are writing songs. Yes, it is amazing their passion, talent, and dedication at such a young age. Thanks for continuing your The Warning journey, Ray.
Holy mother of all things incredible.... Dany.....i still have goose bumps......this was written and performed by kids.....im almost speechless. BRAVO!
This show Dany was in serious character mode, Ale in Boss Bass mode the way she slings that bass around at that age and Pau for her animated stage presence , not to mention her and Danys creative writing skills. All sisters with all that animated high energy crowd engagement throughout this entire event at that age is mind boggling, This show should be put into the RocknRoll HOF for sure
,,and that they conceived of, wrote, arranged this classic story,,as kids?, wow.. this performance always gets right to me! Danys ability to become the Queen is perfection,,frankly, the only part that keeps me from being a total puddle on the floor is her beaming smile as she leaves the mic,,tell me WHY this old rocker feels SO protective of them,, lol,, Huge appreciation of Monica and Luis,, what outstanding parenting..
Phew - the PASSION that Dany sings with here never fails to make me emotional. Pau’s backing vocals are also fantastic. The versatility of these ladies is off the charts & as you say, to have all this at their young age is unfathomable. This whole concert was magical - Dany was (and is) such an expressive front woman, she pulls you into the story they are telling. Queen of the Murder Scene is a masterpiece of a concept album. To pull it off not just in the studio, but also live is beyond amazing. These ladies are special ❤. Thanks for continuing to cover this band, you will not be disappointed. As we all say, they do not know how to write (or perform) a bad song.
At every stage of their career they seem to impress. It's relative of course, they're more skilled and experienced now than 10, 8, 6 years ago but they always have impressed.
You're not the first to call Pau "Powla" and probably won't be the last and the variations of names for Ale/Alejandra are virtually limitless, lol. Queen of the Murder Scene is a masterpiece!.
I think one of the most underrated things about the Warning is their command of the English language ( not being their native language) being so young and being able to convey their stories into songs, they are truly amazing!!!!
This actually is Dany's❤ song. She wrote it several years earlier as practice while using a laptop music program. Then they found it could fit into QOTMS if she just added the last line. ' I'll be your crimson queen"
Hi Raya, you should listen (react or not) the version of this song in 'Foro Didi', the transmittor in Dany's guitar fails so the 1st half of the song is basically Dany a capella, she is visually shocked by this but pulls through and makes the most vulnerable and beautiful interpretation of the song.
Thanks for the great reaction, Rachael! Dany’s voice can be mesmerizing, and it’s like her range is limitless. The background vocals are so haunting. Please continue down The Warning rabbit hole!
My wife used to watch the Ellen Show, and we did see the abbreviated performance of "Crazy Train" they did there. I just thought it was cool that three young ladies had parents that not just exposed them to solid rock, but also provided some musical training. A few years went by and this specific video showed up near the bottom of my suggested feed and is why I fell in love with The Warning, and specifically Dany (in a music listener sense). Clicking on that link that one day opened a new catalogue for me to enjoy, which has been added to since of course.
Hauntingly beautiful delivery by Dany. I would love to see this concept album made into a movie and better yet, have Dany portray the queen’s role in the movie.
A absolutely love this entire show. They played the entire Queen of the Murder Scene album front to back. I like how raw yet impressive it is. Also who writes a concept album as their second album... at 15-16... and it's this good? Ridiculous!😊
Excellent reaction. I fully agree with what you say. It never ceases to amaze me, especially Ale's performance at that age. This is a great Dany song that, as far as I can tell, is unique in its characteristics from anything else by the band.
Luv yur reaction , Both Dany n Pau have magnificent voices and work so well together, a perfect example is their alternating duo during “Survive” live in ‘22 Teatro Mexico concert.
Thanks for the great reaction Ray! This is such a great concert where they are premiering their QOTMS album! The whole concert is wild because of the storyline of this concept album. Dany really digs deep and portray’s the tormented main character to a tee!!! Also they did a TedX talk at the University of Nevada, a year earlier in 2017, that shows their in between stage also! They do 3 songs and in between they talk about their journey and making their 1st album, really cool!!!😊⚡️
The album, *Queen of the Murder Scene,* is amazing. By all rights, NORMAL kids should not have been able to do this. But with tons of help from The Warning Army, Patreons, parents, friends, and relatives, and their own genius, persistence, and hard work, they got it done. It is a work of art. The vinyl album is beautifully packaged - original art on the cover and the inside, with booklets of lyrics, notes, and illustrations that tell the story. It came out on the day of this debut concert! So this was a HUGE performance for them. If you can, watch the entire Lunario 2018 concert video. The music starts around 12:25, after an opening documentary of their arrival and setup at the performance hall. From what I understand, they were all exhausted by the previous few months business. Ale was dehydrated and had to be sent to bed for a few days after! You can see her shaking as she plays the piano intro for *The End (Stars Always Seem to Fade).* Pau could barely sing the intro to *Survive,* the encore song. Dany LOOKS the part of the insane queen, as she gets shakier and more emotionally distraught towards the end of the show. She was probably helped along by exhaustion. Still the concert stands as an awesome, if raw, live reference to the album and story.
this song, *Crimson Queen* , from this Lunario concert gives me endless chills and goosebumps on top of goosebumps... when heard while watching the full concert with the lights down, surround sound turned up, and on the big screen... yeah... those chills are even stronger and Ale's bass booming out and shaking the entire room drives the emotions hard 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
As a week long fan I am trying to move through the start to now. 😅 what a journey! ❤loving it. Thanks for this video. Glad I saw it. I get shivers listening to their music. There’s a lot of us in our 50s,60s & even 70s are now following them. What’s cool is their LIVE performance on MTV VMA awards ! GOOSE BUMPS!!! ❤❤❤
-Dany , es un excelente musico, es una de las mejores interpretes del Rock actual ,una gran compositora con temas de excelente calidad como Crimson Queen ,sin duda sera una leyenda de la historia del Rock
This was the first time this entire album was played live. Because it was performed in Mexico City the thin air from the altitude had a real impact of the vocals at this stage of their career. Since then they've trained a lot on their breathing and don't strain so much when singing in the thinner air. Even so, this is really the show that announced them. Singing and playing instruments isn't enough for them after this, from here on, they put on a SHOW.
Ey amiga. Has entrado en el mundo de la reina de la escena del crimen. Una historia tortuosa y a la vez espeluznante. En Crimson Queen, The Warning te presenta a la protagonista del álbum conceptual Queen of the Murder Scene. The Warning nos une
@7:55 @rayactions , I don't know if you've seen them live in person --- but that's where they've really grown in the past 2 years. It's one thing to play 1-2 shows a week near your home base. Their first long tours outside the USA really began April 2022 - May 2022 when they headlined their MAYDAY tour. The last show of that tour was the first show I saw in person in front of no more than 300 people. They did great -- but you could tell that it had been a physical and emotional grind. Since then, they've done a fantastic job with physical conditioning and mental preparation and maturation. I last saw them live November 2023 when they headlined in Tijuana -- perhaps 3000 people in the crowd. They looked like they could have played twice as long as they did and would have had a ton of fun doing it.
You might enjoy the version of this song they did at Foro DiDi in 2019. There was a technical hiccup where Dany's guitar wasn't coming through the sound system, so you get to hear the vocals with even less instrumentation.
This will be the first time I have shared this, but my wife was not a fan of Metal when we met. She is a musician and can identify instruments even in orchestras, when I told her to think of the voice as an instrument and tune it out she could hear the beauty in some metal. The Warning (forgive me it took a while) use their voice as an instrument and is readily heard here by Dani. Her voice over powers all of the instruments and is brought the forefront. Sorry that took so long.
Aloha @Rayactions - may I encourage you to do more reactions to The Warning's 2022 Teatro Metropolitan concert. I know you've done a few, but do yourself a favor and check out more of that performance. Cheers!
It is wild that all 3 of them decided that they were all in, 110%, for being the best musicians and band that they could be, and there isn't one that's "You know what folks, I'm really not into this "
I probably have the minority opinion, but on an amazing album where every song is full of passion & deep meaning, this song stands out as my favorite. Dany really shines with this performance, she truly became the "Crimson Queen"! Love your reaction!
You're not alone. When The Warning gets quiet, the audience is moved to tears. *Black Holes, Show Me the Light, Breathe, Crimson Queen,* and *Revenant* are brilliant in their understated poignant tension. Another good one is Pau's very raw cover of *Creep,* by RadioHead. She nails it, on an out-of-tune piano, solo. It's heart-breaking, until her comic relief at the end. Don't miss it.
