Thanks! Great reaction. Love their spin on a classic. Pau's name is actually pronounced "POW". In spanish I believe her full name is pronounced "Pow-Leena". Ale is "Ah-Lay". Dany of course is obvious. So much talent!! I appreciate your journey down the rabbit hole that I fell into 4 years ago!
Keep up the good work my friend and thank you for continuing your support for The Warning I had the privilege of seeing them live and they were amazing take care and god bless
The song that you were thinking of, it seems so familiar, is the original song of Enter Sandman. They took the original riff from the beginning of the song, slowed it down, and smooth it out. That’s what’s playing in the background there.
Yes, and a Spanish speaker would not take that from the English name Paul (p’ah’l) I will try to provide my take on Spanish vowel sounds, for Americans with no Spanish language study. Caution - I do not speak Spanish, so someone please correct this if I am wrong! While U.S. Americans usually combine multiple vowels to get a mixed sound, Spanish folks tend to sound out each vowel in sequence. Here goes, Spanish vowel = American sound a = ah , as in pa or top e = ay , as is pay or bay i = ee , as in pea or beep o = oh , as in Poe or toe u = oo , as in Pooh or boot y = ee as vowel, = y’ as consonant, similar to English ‘y’ sounds tu y yo = t’oo ee y’oh (means “you and I”) So, Teatro is pronounced t’ay’ah’tr’oh not t’ee’tr’oh. Hope this makes sense. Thanks JW, for letting me ride your coattails!
@@robbprof111 Best explanation I've seen yet. I have an imitative ear, so I can sound out foreign languages with some effort, so I hear Pau as two syllables and pronounced as you've shown it. Nice!
@@B-Drags-Den If you can say *Alejandra* correctly you can probably also say it without the Jandra in the end. Otherwise, try to say Alex without the x in the end.
Forgive me of some of this is redundant but a review always helps. I loved your reaction and insightful comments. Welcome to the Warning! This is a power trio of Mexican sisters. They just celebrated their 10th anniversary as a band, and currently are only in their late teens and early twenties. They started in grade school! They came onto the worldwide scene with their version of Metallica's Enter Sandman when they were only 14, 12, and 9! That RU-vid video went viral and was just the beginning of what was to come. Time to learn the girls' names! Dany is the lead singer and guitarist, age 24. Pau is drummer and can be second lead singer, also does backups, age 22. Ale is the bassist and backup singer, age 19. All three also play piano as they are classically trained! Their full names are Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra Villarreal. Many of us became hooked on the Warning with their two Tedx performances in 2016 and 2017. For further reactions, I would also use the Teatro Metropolitan 2022 concert. It was professionally recorded so the audio and video were phenomenal. There are many of their best songs in that concert. And more currently some new ones from their coming 4th album in June. Enjoy the rabbit hole as they have over 400 videos on their channel and over 65 original songs. You've been warned!
Lars wanted them the bands recording for the 30th anniversary Black Album to do 'something different' and boy did they. They literally turned the song upside down and backwards. They start with "Take my hand", the original ends with that. The original starts with that iconic riff, here they end with it. Each verse builds in intensity and the lullaby breakdown is haunting... and the harmonies! They did all this about a week and it's just pure genius.
Metallica was doing a special 30th anniversary salute to their Black Metallica albium. The project turned out to be called *"Metallica's Blacklist Album"* for charity. Metallica asked 50 plus a rtists to participate. Alessia Cara was asked. A man working for Cara also worked for The Warning. Suggested both to collaborate. Metallica approved. The Warning had only 8 days to complete the song. Cara from Canada & The Warning in Mexico. Metallica wanted everyone to do what they want with the song *"EXCEPT THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE LYRICS".* The Warning started their version where Metallica left the original song. In the lullaby. Warning started there and brought it back to the beginning. *THE WARNING'S 2021 VERSION OF ENTER SANDMAN* (Blacklist album) *HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR 2014 ENTER SANDMAN VERSION.* It's two different songs.
Probably already stated, she has a Lzzy Hale guitar that was gifted to her from Lzzy when they toured together in 22. There's a video on here of her bringing it to her in the middle of Dani's set.
*Write Down.....* Daniela Villarreal (Dany = Danny) Guitar / Lead & Backing Vocals / Keyboards Paulina Villarreal (Pau = Pow) Drums / Backing & Lead Vocals / Keyboards Alejandra Villarreal (Ale = Aleeh) Bass / Backing Vocals / Keyboards Ale will sing lead on a rare moment when Dany isn't feeling well. Ale has no lead vocal songs written for her. She's strictly a backup singer her sisters has accepted her feelings.
I believe we are witnessing the re-birth of rock. All hail The Warning !! :)) I also like this version better than Metallica's original. Also, check out their version of Metallica's "Atlas Rise" both the one done in their basement I believe. Just listen to Ale's bass growl ... she is beating the crap out of those strings. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ujrHJH3yovc.html And another version done at the Whiskey !! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fhhG5EiFiyA.html
That explorer you like has a story behind it. Links are all short. Lzzy Hale talking about that Explorer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UsODslFukGA.htmlsi=F_5Wh2W9Zn2Oe3dY The moment, notice the number of shots, everyone was in on this except Dani: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Pv5W9l2JrI.htmlsi=5fwpqVahRd6p1Q6I Dani talking about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5W8un7ajCQk.htmlsi=EZpn3j375CeWevhT
Yes Lizzie Hale gifted her a Gibson Explorer with her type of electronics and her Neck shape to fit Dany. And Matt Bellamy of Muse also gifted her a Manson Guitar 🎸🎸2 GIFTS For A very, Very, VERY Special Lady 🎸🎸
This song was commissioned by Metallica for the Black list album. You're hearing backing vocals from Alessia Cara also featured on the colab. See the official music video including her.
Ummmm,it was Alessia Cara who got the initial call for the album,The Warning have the same management team in Nth America who suggested Alessia collaborate with them. The Warning basically rearranged the whole song within the week, added Alessias vocals (as she was in Canada),and the rest is history - now. Also, much of the vocal backing vocals are coming from The Warning as well,on the record of course - here,it's Pau providing the majority of the backing vocals.
Indeed, it is not just background vocals throughout the song, but specifically the part to which the person reacting refers, if it is Alessia Cara's. And it's OK.
Metallica invited Alessia Cara to participate in the Blacklist 30th Anniversary album during COVID. The international management agency that represents both Alessia and The Warning asked Metallica if the two groups could be brought together for this project. The two groups wrote (Alessia in Canada, The Warning in Mexico), recorded, and produced an entirely new version of Sandman in only ten days that ended up being the lead track on Metallica’s anniversary album. You can hear Alessia's voice in this performance as a fourth voice on track. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a dark lullaby. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.
You got the names right. You don't need to worry if you get the pronunciations wrong, people need to chill. You already got the story about this shakeup of the original being just what Metallica was looking for. It's a masterful adaptation delivered within one week. I love it. Thanks.
Nice reaction. Now You need to React to the 2014 version Enter Sandman. It went viral and now has 25 million views. It's how it all started making a video to show Grandpa and Grandma. Metallica loved it. He says the Drummer "kicks maximum ass Kirk Hamlin" Metallica asked them to play a version of Enter Sandman but make it their own For The Black list Album. Keep the lyrics the same but turn the music upside down and all around with Alessia Cara. They came up with this Master piece in 10 days. The Warning-The Best.
Yeah. With the other 5 Enter Sandman versions. Only reason it's first is alphabetical order with Alessia Cara being first. Since it was Cara asked to be on the album originally.
I've always thought this version sounds like the main track for a 007 movie. In ten days they delivered this atmospheric version of Enter Sandman. Ingenious.
The guitar Dany is playing waa gifted to her halfway through their set by Lzzy Hale when The Warning were touring with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. There are multiple videos of this from various points of view. Both Lzzy and Dany have told this story in various interviews.
Those high background “whoa,oh,oh,oh”s you pointed out are by Alessia Cara, with whom they collaborated on the song, on a backing track. The instructions they received from Metallica for the Blacklist album were to take a song, turn it upside down or inside out, and make it their own. The Warning was one of the only 50+ bands/artists to completely reimagine the original. Ale usually sings either a low or high falsetto harmony, but usually doesn’t sing lead unless Dany is sick. 👍😎
They have it all together. For me it is impossible not to love their music. XXI century blood is an amazing song from them when they were just wee tots. Thankyou bud, good work.
Metallica put this version of their song on their Blacklist album, so I think they probably heard it. You shouldn't have rewound with a second left. And Paulina is pronounced with an OW sound. Pau is also.
At 9:28. That high whooooo voal was Alessia Cara on the backing track. For the live version. The Warning to the Alessia Cara's pop sound out. Dany sang Alessia's parts as well as The Warning's & the prayer. For you to understand you must watch the official music video of Alessia Cara & The Warning Music Video from 2021.
@@markdicesare7936 Probably because that's how she spells it. 😄 Check the engraved name on the top of her guitar neck. It's really visible in the Digital Tour Bus video where she goes over her gear.
But to an American whose first language is English, that wouldn't come out as intended. 😀 If you follow that advice when saying their names the way a Spanish speaker would, then it works and matches how they say each others' names. But to us English native speakers it would come out as "paw" and "alla" if we do that. 😉
First, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but when I heard this version, I literally jumped out of my seat !!! The Edge, the Attitude, THE DRUMMS (Pau is going really high in this one vocally)... This song is on Metallica's tribute album "The Metallica Blacklist", And it's great and all (Alessia Cara is the singer with The Warning), but I love Dany's voice more. This song needs a Rock edge not R&B singer. And, That Guitar what Dany is playing is a stagegift from Lizzy Hale. ⚡Viva la WARNING⚡ NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘.
Have you watched the original cover they did in 2014?? Where it all started for them, Metallica saw the video and Kirk Hammett said, " the drummer kicks ass". Danys Gibson Explorer guitar was given to her by Lzzy Hale.
Dany was gifted that guitar by lead guitarist/singer of the band Halestorm, Lizzy Hale. Would love to see you react to Halestorm. Maybe the song "Love Bites (so do I)"Thanks🤘❤
Pau is pronounced POW. Just think of how she pow pow on the drums and you got her name. Nice of Metallica to write a song for The Warning.😀 Great reaction. That is Alessia Cara on backing track doing the high vocals as she collaborated on the song with them.
first off, lets say no one should give grief to you,,apologize if that occurred. this is a fantastic re-imagined ES! with covid preventing Alessia Cara from travelling from Canada this was all done remotely. The official is worthy of it's own reaction. good reaction, thanks
Always a treat when Ale sings. But its rare as in past lives she pretty much said she never will sing lead and hate when she has to if dany is ill. And in the mtw push she eaven said at karaoke question she dont like singing.
I subbed! Watched many of your reactions to these talented sisters, and other bands like Rammstein… The Warning‘s new album comes in 4 days, on Friday! Saw them live during their totally sold out Euro tour in April, they are mind blowing live! Good luck and fun with your channel, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
The “Superfecta” of Progressive Hard Rock, Hard Rock Trio, Progressive Groove Metal, and Power Metal: Band-Maid, The Warning, Jinjer, and Lovebites -- all pushing their core genres into the next realm! 🤘 🤘 🤘🤘 Thx, Rick!
*Enter Sandman* (reimagined) DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
While The Warning is always better live, there are a few music videos of theirs you should check out, one is for this song that features Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara and XXI Century Blood which won several awards for the video
The extra voice is Alessia Cara who originally did a recording with the Warning for this song. Her parts have been trimmed down here a bit and it works perfectly (IMO).
Don´t worry too much about the names - you care that´s the main thing! About Ale singing lead: Sadly not so often, sometimes in HUNTER and a few more when Dany needs to rest her voice but it´s mostly poor quality recorded, one example with OK audio is the song RIVER´S SOUL in July 2018 small stage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zHyUDfB0m64.html
Here's an easy way to remember - DPA - Dany, Pau, Ale. Order in age and watching the video, from right to left. Their starting position on stage is almost always this way (there "might" be an exception once or twice but not 100% sure). So, no worries on the names. I enjoyed this reaction. You gave some good commentary and paused I thought at all the right spots, and you always backed up a little bit. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is The Warning.
If you've seen their cover of this from the Warning cave, you'll have noticed they are now bona-fide rock stars. This reimagining of "Enter Sandman" has made this song their own, and the fact that Alé is now taller than her bass.
You've got the right idea with the names and abbreviations, but you are missing on the subtle difference between how an American vs a Mexican would say their names. Pau is the abbreviation for Paulina. But you are pronouncing both with an American accent, like Paw-lee-na. So you end up saying Pau like "paw". Say it with a Latino accent. Like Pow-lee-na", and "pow".
That harmony you’re recognizing is Alessia Cara’s voice on a backtrack that she sang when they did their music video, Enter Sandman, together. Dany has always included her name when announcing this song at every concert that they played this song!!!😊⚡️
All good on your attempts on their names. Dany, Ale (Ah-ley) and Pau (Pow). (In Spanish, Paulina’s name is pronounced more as Pow-Lina, hence “Pow”. You’re good with the other two. They created this version as part of Metallica’s 30th anniversary of the Black Album, called the Blacklist Album, in 2021. More than 50 major artists from many genres were invited to create their own versions of their favorite songs from that album. TW wound up collaborating with Canadian R&B artist, Alessia Cara, and they created this version, which is amazing. They produced an official music video that you should definitely check out/react to. It’s a great video and will help explain Alessia’s backing vocals that you heard in this live performance. Because it’s a collab with Alessia, the OMV version is slightly different, different enough to warrant a separate reaction! Love your reactions so far; keep them coming! Thx.
