@@but531 I completely agree. The majority of music nowadays is just a person talking in quick rhymes with a beat and they make the songs not for art but for the soul sake of money. Music used to have life, uniqueness, and was an artform. Now it just all sounds the same, is complete trash, and the fact that the newer generations like it shows that they dont know any better and are simple minded.
The weather Girls were so unappreciated by the entertainment industry during that time, and sadly today few women who are plus size and can sing their ass off, rarely get the fanfare they deserve. BOTH Martha and Izora are accomplished singers whose roots in the church enabled them to sing ANY song and make it their own. Way before the talented Lizzo, Queen Latifah and other singers , Martha Wash and Izora let it be known that big girls are beautiful and talented.
I agree very much with all you wrote except..."today few women who are plus size and can sing their ass off, rarely get the fanfare they deserve." Are you sure you wanted both the words "few" and "rarely" in there? What you were literally writing there is that today most plus size great singers get appreciated. I don't think so, sadly.
Martha Wash wasn’t under appreciated as she did a lot of vocals for various bands and groups. She just wasn’t given the credit that she deserved for her work. Black Box and Seduction really did her dirty and C&C Music Factory originally made Zelma Davis lip sync in the Gonna Make You Sweat music video but later settled the lawsuit Ms Wash had filed and made sure to include her in their videos.
I absolutely love Martha wash(such a beautiful soprano voice) and Izora Armstead(just a nasty mezzo🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾)!!! Their voices are simply unmatched!!! I wish they weren’t so underrated though.
How am I hearing this for the first time as an 80's baby. Forget Mariah this is it right here. LOL!! I love it and these women have some pipes they can sang!!
Lyrics: Everytime the holidays come along I wanna be close to someone Someone who cares Someone who really understands And hold him in my arms..... Hi! (Hi!) We’re your weather girls (Uh-huh) And we’ve holiday news for you! (You better listen!) This is an open letter to Mr Santa Claus (Tell em girl) For all the single girls at home (all right) Bring me a man this Christmas I need a man to keep me warm Oh, its gettin late So send him here I dont think I can make it through another year Come on Santa come through I need a man this Christmas I need a man Yes I do to keep me home Oh a gentle face A strong embrace A pillow and a blanket by the fireplace Dim the lights down low and let it snow.... I can almost feel him Feel his lips touching mine And darling I reach out Reach out... reach out... Reach out... Ive been a good girl all year long I done my best right or wrong Aint been naughty, only nice Check your list and check it twice Cant you see it just aint fair Another cold night I just cant bare Come on Santa wont you please Look at me Im on my knees Oh bring me a man Woah, woah this Christmas I need a man keeping me warm The fires out The chimneys clean This girls heart is open and it dont mean a thing Place him under my tree Mister C...., this Christmas I need a man this Christmas Come on come on, come on Come on come on, come on Come on come on, come on Dim the lights down low Come on come on, come on Come on come on, come on Come on come on, come on Let it snow..., Let it snow... Let it snow...... Let it snow...... Let it snow Need him in my arms Do your best But make it quick Believe in me and I believe in you Saint Nick Place him under my tree Mister C Oh Mister C Whos that coming down my chimney Is that you baby
The fact that year after year we are involuntarily bombarded by Santa Baby instead of getting to enjoy this absolute banger is proof we are in the darkest timeline
I was crying my eyes out of laughter! I can’t finish the video from so much laughing tears! What got me finally is the big black gowns and the intense choreography where they were twirling around! 😂
Here we can hear that Martha was the real voice of the group Black Box. Only the first song "ride on time" was sung by Loleatta Holloway. Izora was also great. Love that song. I miss this time so much. 😂❤😊
Como he podido vivir sin esta cancioooooooon , OH MY GOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!!!! ITS THE BEST christmas party song eveeeerrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! I lost my head now!!!!!
Incredible singers indeed, but they were also equally incredible musicians. Izora for her part was a classically trained pianist and musical prodigy who played from the age of four and studied at the San Fransico Conservatory of music. Soooooo much talent and beauty!!!!!
The bar's been set too high for the girls to challenge but Courtney Act, Alaska and William succeed to bring the song to the children! I am one of those little gay babies XD
The bass the bit the drum sound the singing is so so cool. Man this music is so well made. Very few people understand this style of music. I must suscribe now. You can't undesrstand how appreciate this music. From this kind of music i start to listen music when i was young.
Nose como termine aqui pero esta canción es muy buena y sus voces son envidiables, ojala poder cantar de manera pero lo más probable es que terminaria botando un pulmón 😆
