Thank you for being so supportive about *Wikipedia* and its editors, Ethan! We're so used to hearing people say that WP is trash and completely unreliable when it's just not true. I wish people would actually look into the process and rules editors abide by. The editor community is very active with double-checking the work of other editors; we all work together to maintain accurate info. There are hundreds of pages (freely visible to the public) on WP detailing how to properly edit and the rules of editing. Further, when it comes to citing sources, those sources can only be from trustworthy journalistic sources or things like academic papers and journals, non-fiction books by known authors of the subject, etc. WP also actually provides its experienced editors with the ability to access professional/academic resources for free that you'd otherwise have to pay for. You can't just cite anything. For instance, you wouldn't be able to cite something like the Daily Mail or other tabloid-y news outlets, gossip mags, predatory journals, news orgs with open bias, etc, etc. They have detailed guidelines on it. And if you cite those sources, the citation gets removed and replaced with a "citation needed" tag or the info is removed after an editor looks into the info and can't verify it with a reliable source. Many pages are monitored for changes by many people for the purpose of keeping added info accurate. We work hard, lol. Unfortunately, it's always a work in progress. But unless you're Kav Kav, most people are definitely not adding completely false info based in nothing. That's called "vandalizing" a page and the person's IP gets banned for doing it.
I've never been really into podcasts, but man H3 is just so entertaining the entire time. Like, it's not just funny, they talk seriously about things, they voice their opinions, they make jokes and hang out. It's just a good time all throughout
Oh man that stuff gives me anxiety. I go to great lengths to avoid that stuff in my recommended. I used to subscribe to this one guy who told ghost stories and had to unsubscribe bc all my recommended was like murder mystery for a while. If they did that, I would have to unsub. As someone who has PTSD and OCD (not cleanliness but intrusive thoughts), I would be so bummed.
I like to remember that in true crime the "true" is quite important. These are real stories, and RU-vid already has a problem with true crime content creators being asked to stop covering content by the families of victims. And, we don't need any more hour-long deep dives into the mind of the most famous lot of criminals, because there's only so much resources, and they have all been covered head to toe. I don't think the h3 crew and Ethan could and should handle a true crime show. Maybe a general mystery show, but real cases? I think I'd pass. Edit: also, if they'd have to take down an episode or edit out content to make good with family requests, then they'd do work that's wasted. It's too risky for them, it's their jobs.
@@kpr4225 Agree. There is way too much of this content already. I watch H3 bc it is light-hearted. I don't want my fav podcast to go in this direction. It would mess with the algorithm and I would have to unsub bc even seeing stuff like that in my recommended gives me anxiety. Even hearing the "M" word gives me anxiety. I never thought about it from the family's perspective but that must be so awful to constantly have to fight content creators. I understand the psychology of people being fascinated by this stuff but they don't think about the wishes of the family or the victims. H3 is kind of like a safe space for me and that would go out the window if they covered this kind of content. A lot of people like myself have trauma and PTSD. I see a lot of people write in the comments about their mental health issues and how this podcast helps keep them going. I hope they consider that a lot of viewers don't want their fav podcast to go from being light-hearted to anxiety-inducing.

Many content creators, like the recent TotallyNotMark case, get hundreds of videos blocked by big corporations and can't do jack shit about it without going bankrupt. Olivia is the beautiful and caring female voice we needed on the pod (when Hila isnt there ofc)! Wikipedia was actually a really great source for me in medical school. Their anatomy pages are pretty fire, really great overviews of nerve and blood vessel branches, and muscles. Tells you exactly what nerve and vessel supplies a specific muscle. It's also super handy for translating medical terms, I used it a lot to find the swedish term for things, as literature is in english and we had to use swedish terminology. I use it for translation all the time, when sharing stuff with international friends, because usually if there is a Swedish page there is an English one. Plants, food items, cultural things. Love Wikipedia! Thumbs up on donation (i also donate when I can).

you can tell ethan really loves his job. he was not feeling it, low energy at the start but then got right into 20-30 minutes in. man i aspire to having a job like that one day where even if im not feeling it my work is so enjoyable that it lifts me back up. right now i hate my job with every cell in my body but i have to work in order to survive.

Other than that it is a pretty swell place. The University of Buffalo is one of the best in the country and it is one of the best things about Buffalo.
