This was the 3rd time they had to go through the song. Pops had already tried his section twice but it wasn’t working out. That’s why Mavis is cheering him on so much in this footage. He finally got put some soul on it and it managed to work out. I will never ever forget this night. My family was in the audience
Does anyone know who the band members are? The drummer looks like it could be Harry Stinson, the percussionist looks like it could be Terry Lee McMillan, but I'm assuming this was Marty's backing band? For instance, I'm not sure who played steel guitar and mandolin, don't know who the bassist is, and it looks and sounds like there are two keyboard players - one on piano, the other on organ. Does anyone know who the musicians are? I know that on the studio version, the musicians included Robby Turner on steel guitar, Don Potter on acoustic guitar, Reggie Young on electric guitar, Willie Weeks on bass, Kenny Aronoff on drums, Barry Beckett on piano, and Steve Nathan on organ (as per the liner notes of the "Rhythm, Country and Blues" compilation album by "Various Artists" where this song was originally released), but I don't know who the members of Marty's live band were at the time, and I'm assuming those are the musicians seen here.
