😁😁😁🤗 hiya Kerry and Danni.. Great review of both trails 👍 really difficult to chose a favourite. But if your after more of an adventure and remoteness ide sudjest the EHW but as you say, more planning involved for provisions. 😁 The WHW definatley looks busier plus plenty of places for food and drink and even your backpack can be taken along the route for you and be dropped off at bobs, hotels and even campsites needing just a day pack for the duration.. 😁👍 both routes are spectacular and great for first time long distance hikers.. Solo or with company 😁👍 Tough to chose 1 though.. . Kerry see you again this year at somepoint, and danni it would be nice to meet you to 😁 Have fun, and takecare 🤗

Happy New Year Kerry and Danni. What a great comparison of two incredible trails. Days without seeing navigational markers and several river crossings? Think the West Highland Way has it for us, for a start we are way more familiar with those surrounds! That being said they both look stunning. Have an awesome week 👍

Great video, it's the WHW for me, it can be a bit of a slog in parts, but loadsa company up there. I would love you to create a video on the "Hebridean Way" it's 156 miles North from the Isle of Vatersay to the town of Stornoway. 10 islands, 6 causeways and 2 ferries, with the wild North Atlantic on your left shoulder nearly all the way. You guys would smash it 😄👍

Hi 😊 and happy belated new year. Great review of the two trails. WHW was my first long distance trail, I think it’s fab as a first trail as it’s so easy to navigate and so many great people to meet. I met so many hikers and as a solo hiker on the trail it was great to see meet others. But now I’m happier at navigating I prefer the quieter tracks. I’ve not done the east highland way yet but have done the south section of the Skye trail and has been my fav trail so far every though I haven’t yet finished it all. Would love to see a video of that and to hear if it’s a trail on your list? I’d like to give the EHW a go at some point though. Great video 😊

Hi there Yasmin, yes I would love to do the Skye trail… I think it will be ok my list for next year as my trail diary is now full for 2023 😃 If you fancy doing the whole thing you should join me .. we can do a collab!!

Sounds like you got lots of cool adventures coming up then this year 😊 I’d defo enjoy a meet up, I keep trying to finish trails but I always tend to hit a wall at the mile 40 mark and keep having to do them in two sections. But if you don’t mind my slow pace and the possibility of me just doing half the trail then I’d be glad to join you 😁😁

I'll take The WHW coming may. Easy accessible from Glasgow airport. More "refuelling" points along the route. So I can pack as light and lean as possible. This will be my first long distance hike with wildcamping (can"t wait). When I survive I'll go for the EHW, GGW, RRW etc....the lot. If I might see the both of you on the trail somewhere ever, I'll defintely have a chat and a good laugh! Greetings from Henk (Holland).

So nice to see the sun and dry weather, I was starting to forget what both looked like, sick of all the rain this year. Happy New Year! I'd love to do the West Highland Way at some point although they both look lovely. Think camping the WHW is definitely the way to go as I read it's so popular a lot of walk operators block book most of the accommodation so it can be hard to find if you're not doing it through a company. Looking forward to getting more wild camping done in 2023! X

I have done both the WHW in the height of summer and the EHW in the depths of winter. Just a quick note there is a nice honesty box along Loch Lomond just outside rowardennan on the WHW. Ok which trail is better etc, I thought the WHW north of Tyndrum was stunning and I had amazing sunshine, at times far too hot. The EHW is a totally different trail, very little waymarking navigation is a must, like you said there is river crossings and is advisable to have some sort of emergency communication even if just 999 text. Once you get past the industrial area at fort william it’s definitely a more technical route but I love Scottish forests. I preferred the EHW even though it was wet, freezing, cloudy etc it’s more of a proper trail.
@DrunkOnWanderlust
@DrunkOnWanderlust Год назад
Thanks so much for watching and your comment, I agree! The EHW definitely felt more of an adventure as it involved more navigating and less people, although the WHW is gorgeous.. 🤗 both wonderful trails

I was lucky enough to have done the WHW four years after it officially opened , trust me ladies it was a different animal back then 😂 , I'll be honest I've never got round to doing the EHW (can't be arsed at my age haha ) done loads of camping in most of the areas around about right enough . The WHW wins hands down even though I cannot compare them walk for walk but like I said I do know both areas intimately , happy new year , maybe catch up with you on a wee stravaig on the west coast this year 👍⛺
@DrunkOnWanderlust
@DrunkOnWanderlust Год назад
Let’s hope so!!! Wow I bet it was wonderful back then! I did it 2020 so it was much quieter due to covid which was lovely … but still too busy for my liking 🙈🙈 I prefer quieter trails so I feel like we are the only ones around x
@wullieoutdoorsinscotland2192
@@DrunkOnWanderlust I suggested the Arran Coastal Way right ? , you can miss the best walks on Arran if you only do the trail , Glen Rosa , Glen Sannox are both beautiful yet so different , both take you up to Goatfell so you can add another day and do this part in one day ( start either side , go up the mountain then down the opposite way you go up ) I can't recommend it highly enough PS did I tell you #Ilovearran ? haha

@@DrunkOnWanderlust Here is a crazy one, start at Fort William, and do Ben Nevis and then head for Aviemore, head up from the ski lift, then the Lairig Ghru, then up a mountain called Braeriach then across to do Ben Macdui then off down to Braemar. And you will have done the 3 highest mountains in the UK. May many happy miles pass under your feet in 2023.
