Randomise starters and tell each other the highest base stat. Not like "the highest base stat is HP, Sp.Def and HP again" But rather like "highest base Stat on the first mon is 75, the second is 125, and the last one has 32" then allow evolving the mon to its final stage and then battle. Give yourself 2-3 skips. Use held items for added flavor lol

got a challenge for you - the usual random skills exc that you use, You each get 30 min to make a team (or any time limit you think appropriate), you each get full 100% choice (no limits) on your first pick. then after your first pick you take the first pokemon you see that has at least 1 type in common with your first pick. then your third pick has to have at least 1 type in common with your second pick, the 4th pick has 1 type in common with your 3rd exc exc. I think this one should be if you get more than 6 in the time limit you have options when making your team, if you dont get 6 you keep going until you do. You each get 2 skips. Fully evolved only. You can catch as many legendary/pseudo as you want (as long as you do so following the other rules), but your ending team can have no more than 2 legendary/pseudo on it at the end. I think this adds a good amount of strategy to the mix... do you wait for the prefect first pick and hope you have enough time to get a team or do you take the first legend you see and go for more options when making your team? It also makes single type pokemon hard to take even if they are good because you will have to pick the same type next.
