I know a girl I went to school with who turned into a lost media rumour. She once posted a tiktok (2018 I think) where she danced a little on a bus and someone started the rumour that the video continues and she somehow falls off the bus and gets beheaded. Some people started the rumour that it‘s just the beginning of an adult movie. Sometimes this video appears on newer lost media or disturbing media videos with many different fake stories behind it because those rumours went pretty viral. And it‘s actually disturbing when you know that she was about 12/13 when that video was taken. I always get truly angry and disgusted when I see another tiktoker going viral, claiming they saw the whole disturbing video…
20:01, i think that the billy bob is actually a mascot costume. it looks MUCH different than the actual animatronic of billy bob, and they wouldn't allow kids to get that close to them (plus its next to a chair, and the animatronics are bolted to their stage)
I was born not far from where the iconic "Staircase in the woods" picture was taken. I've been up those stairs many, many times and it has a very ethereal quality to it. I read the iconic creepypasta when it was first getting big and though "huh that's just like the stairs in the forest near me" and was very happy to see the artwork I grew up knowing becoming part of the imagery. For those who are interested, the stairs are a part of the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. If you're into surreal artwork I'd recommend looking up some of the other sculptures - one standout is a gigantic stained glass window hanging from the trees; it's an incredibly sight to behold especially when it's just you wondering through the forests alone. If you're in the area, go see it!
I actually have something to add about the Slenderman segment! The second image by Knudsen, equally as popular as the one you showed in this video, includes Slenderman in the background beckoning children towards him, and not too long ago when i was lookin thru the wikipedia page for Slenderman, i saw that one of the inspirations was a character called "The Tall Man" from a film series called Phantasm. So I do a lil googling because I'm curious, but then I come across this one picture of the character, specifically what seems to be a figurine, and I notice that the character is in the exact same posing and angle as Slenderman is in the second picture. So i cross reference the two and confirm that Knudsen abseloutely used that very specific picture of The Tall Man for one of the original two Slenderman photos. If you look closely at the playground picture, you can even see that Slendy has hair in it, just like The Tall Man!

What’s crazy about the stairs in the woods thing, is it’s a common real thing where I live (southern United States) to stumble across the foundations/cement stairs of old houses in the wooded areas close to roadways.
39:00 double exposures don't happen during development. They happen during exposure. You'd simply not advance the film and shoot on the same frame. You can superimpose two pictures when making an actual print from the film, which is what that reminds me of.
i know this is a long shot, especially since it wasnt actually covered in this video, but in the intro in the thumbnail of "do you know where these unsettling images come from?" by Gubby, in the bottom left corner is a sculpture called Der Vogelmensch. Its by a german artist called Blattlimwind and currently owned by their friend, Monica Borboleta. Ive been trying to find a way to contact Monica for ages about buying the sculpture, but havent heard back. If ANYONE finds a way to reach her, please send me her way!! I absolutely adore the sculpture and it would mean the world if i even had the chance to ask her about it

The sleep experiment gas mask image was in a history textbook I used in high-school, it was showcasing the low quality of WW1 gas masks iirc. And it's definitely WW1, I've seen those masks a bunch and each Era has a very unique style of gas mask. If I had seen that image alongside Russian Sleep Experiment when I was reading it, my immersion would've been totally killed, it just doesn't match the apparent time period.

Each episode features new characters and a new story although there are some recurring characters who have had to experience horrific things more than 10 times! The "Earmuff" part of the title refers to a very old collection of interesting stories written by people doing official duties during the Edo period, which includes ghost stories and samurai stories. This TV series is based on a series of books with the same name. Futari Bochi ふたりぼっち or Two People Alone Together is part of the fourth series and refers to episodes 56 to 68. There are over 100 episodes in the TV show and some were directed by famous horror directors such as Takashi Shimizu who directed The Grudge. The AMV that you showed in your video was only uploaded a few months ago, and if you watch the episode you will see the ghost has eyes so I don't think the image has been edited at all. This is my favorite creepy image so it was really interesting to find out where it's from.
The Red Mist origin just being an old Squidward render (not a screenshot from the show as the video says) kinda confuses me, as there's a shot from a season 1 episode where Squidward's eyes are twitching, and in that shot he stands there, staring at the camera, and his eyes are shrunk to a similar size to the ones from the creepypasta, so I wouldn't be surprised if that served as inspiration for the image.
Just so you know, you got the story of the MARIO image a bit wrong. The hack wasn't made based off of the story, the hack was real, and the story was a true account of Adam's experiences with the hack.

Someone managed to find the original image from a 2003 announcement to promote the construction for a new RC raceway for the Hobbytown USA Racing Team using the Wayback Machine, and it was confirmed the original Backrooms image was located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
If i remember correctly the "the end library" had that sign there because they were shutting down and selling or giving out the last of their books and other stuff.
I heard in some video that the sign was rearranged from letters that were already on the wall spelling something else, and someone likely did that just to be funny/spooky

Remember trying to explain Momo to my mom who was freaking out over it after the pre-K she worked at sent home all these really poorly written letters fear-mongering parents. She refused to listen as did most parents ignorant of internet stuff, but still remember it clearly. I feel bad for the artist behind the piece, he put a lot of work into it only for people to go crazy over it online.

So about the 1983 clown- it was made as basically an advertisement at IAPA expos, to show off the technology Aron’s company could make. However now adays the clown has become infamous in the Showbiz Pizza fandom as the animatronic’s show tape which includes it’s pre-recorded audio and movements has been corrupted, effectively making most content of the clown permanent lost media, that and his endoskeleton head somehow became destroyed so now he’s using a random extra endoskeleton head which makes his face baggy and even more creepy

I never realized my favorite painting was made in response to Tatsushima’s assault. One of my most respected skills in art is the ability to create a face that’s deeply unsettling from the shape and expression alone but knowing what I know now it seems that in addition to incredible skill, the face on the painting had to have come from a place of more suffering than a single painting can convey. Given the content of her art, it’s not hard to see that she was facing a lot of anguish, especially as someone who’s used art to cope with pain. I hope she recognizes that she is one of the most effective, unique and brilliant artists we’ve seen yet and is able to live a happy and fulfilling life in every way possible. She’s incredible at expressions, color and texture in her art and is undoubtedly my favorite artist. Really fucked up that such a personal painting is now attached to a creepypasta.

@9:21 there's a reason why stairs are found in the woods. Most of the time it's from an old home or building that has long since been abandoned. The stairs are often the most durable part of a structure outside of the foundation which would be hidden underground. Thats also why most of the time when u find stairs in the woods they are stone, brick, or metal. The walls & roof of the structure was most likely wood.

When the SCP wiki began images associated with articles were rarely sourced, and since it has grown greatly in size and influence, those older images were eventually investigated and sourced. The older image of the two about 106 was changed because its copyright status was unknown, and is still of unknown origins. Also it's a lot cooler imo than some old guy chilling in a bathtub full of mud lol.
