The Whispers were number one most popular band throughout the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s...with number one hits..like Rock Steady, And the beat goes on, It's a love thing and many other hit songs
One of the best music bands of the Sound of Los Angeles Records. We just talk about love and passion. No aggressiveness, no violence. That's what the music should always be.
That era was special in general. Music is connected to the time and mood in a specific era. I would say music could become that warm again in uplifting days to come
There always will but you dipshits never look beneath the surface to look for good music search for it and you will find it but in reality yall just want to Jack your dick of to the thought that it's old music you don't even search for music that is good just what is old and popular to ride the wave
I feel so blessed to have been in my early 20's and had the pleasure to dance to some of the greatest music ever in the clubs. ❤ I can't help but dance when I hear this song.
Going Platinum for a Black R&B group in the early 80s was Major. Platinum plaques werent just being thrown around. Gold was the standard for success then.
This song is fascinating when you really put your ear to it. The rhythm carries the melody throughout the entire song. Yet it's never repetitive or overbearing. There's a lot going on within the instrumentation as well as the vocal performances of WHISPERS in every section of the song. No part is exactly the same. Everything in this song just seems to totally click. Great composition and recording. It's a masterpiece of our BLACK music talent and culture!
@@bmw3842 The Solar Sound was indeed unique and holds up 40 years later 👍 I still have in my collection an 8 LP box with many of these fantastic productions.
@@123pb YES Leon Sylvers is such an integral part to the Solar sound - everybody should check out pdbass channel and his excellent video on The Top 10 Leon Sylvers III Basslines
GOD...... OH MY LORD..... IT S SOOOOOOOOOOOOO JOYFULL. I FEEL LIKE THE WORLD IS MINE WHEN I HEAR THOSE KINDS OF BEAUTIES. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH EVERYONES. ❤️❤️🙏🙏😇😇
Holy DeJaVu!!! I so remember being on the dance floor jammin' to this tune! Lordy I miss those days!!! There's no one like The Whispers! I remember getting a $100 speeding ticket, driving from New York State, up to Springfield, Ma. for their concert. Was well worth the price of the ticket! Had an awesome time!!! Peace & Love!
After graduating high school I worked at the local Wal-Mart for a couple years on the overnight shift. There was this skinny, Jewish guy named Karl that would listen to The Whispers when he was the guy that had to unload the truck. Unloader picked the music... That's how it went. A couple of the black guys and Karl would head into the city on the weekends to do some Steppin'. Karl loved the HEAVY Sistas. I would have loved to see a video of 145lbs Karl out on the dance floor Steppin' with a couple of 4 bill Sistas.
I'm with you on that post my friend 👋😉. Whispers fan for life!!! The Scott twins may be short, but they are so cute and talented. Both are Army veterans 👍. God bless them 🙏 both. Take care of yourself and your family during this coronovirus pandemic 😷 ok. Much love from Bunn NC 💖👋😊. We have great taste in music 👌 my friend. Peace out for now ✌.
Was 12 in the summer of 80, London... The Music was Amazing...AND soul music was Unstoppable on the commercial stations Mystic Merlin The whispers Coffee Tom Browne Crown Heights affair.... GREAT TIMES
Listening to this song back in 1980 started everything for me with music. This was my building block. The 70's, 80's, and 90's are some of the best music and sing along ballets ever. The reason why there are so many views and visitors nowadays, is because Generation X individuals like me, have given up on or are not interested with some of the music after the years of the 2000’s.
I have loved this song since the first time hearing at maybe at 10 years and the essence of it still relevant at 54... the Whispers are one of the best to do it!
Great times, great music and people enjoying themselves. No trouble, sometimes got drunk at a club did not bother anyone else. Pubs and disco times of 80s were great. Anybody else agree?
Each time I hear of one of my childhood celebs dying, it's a definite reminder that I too am moving on up to the finish line of life. SO MANY folks are "checking out". My heart is heavy but, sending my sympathies to the friends & families of Mr. Nicholas Caldwell. ♥
So true....about moving on up to the finish line of life. Not worried though;(not implying that you are), death is a part of life, and I've survived SO MUCH....and have had more than one near-death experience, when my number is up.....it's up!!
Don't I know it. When I posted this, I NEVER dreamed that I'd wind up with cancer. SMH. Dealing with chemo now but, music is life for me. It definitely helps. Blessings
This has stood the test of time having just heard it on 6 Music in the UK. I used to have the radio on all day long in the hope they'd play it back in the day. This and And The Beat Goes On. Complete joy!
Did you just say they gets better with time!? Well, the Whispers have a song titled - "It Just Gets Better With Time" This song was taken from their 16th studio album. Released April 9, 1987. It also features the disco hit single "Rock Steady" among others.
The 80's were my FAVORITE years in my life... The music was FIRE... I probably wouldn't come back to the present if I had a time machine!!! 😉😉😉😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
The Whispers were truly the vocal disco band in the late 70s and early 80s. I remember Russell Thompkins Junior from the Stylistics who had a similar high voice to these guys as we all know. I'm sure these guys were influenced a little by the Stylistics. Superb video. I was 23 in 1981 when this hit our chart. Superb.
Bring back real soul ,real RNB ,funk Real brothers with soul that can sing Tired of the bullshit music industry killing our music And as for you M f with the thumbs down stick to your garbage pop ,music, crappy rock, heavy metal and techno nonsense Rip real soul, deep funk boogie ,and jazz funk
Yeah and no one gave a toss what people thought just the best music and they could dance I do wonder how many marriages and baby’s happened so many fantastic groups around when I was young I’m 62 I love it when I see comments from young people about how they would of loved living then well I did and work all week then the weekend came round and out pubbing and clubbing also dance floors were packed we just wanted a good time
*From The Great Music Renaissance of the 1980's. Great music and great time growing up in America. Thank You Great Lord Above for filling the Air with Harmony.*
I am James F Jr... Thank you Leon Sylvers for writing and Producing such great sounds. This is his sound Musically as far as the Music goes. The Vocals make the Trip worth every second. Let's Dance. Thank you to The Whispers. Scotty and Wally.
good music lives on and on. what a time to be alive. a period when there were talented, black adults making music that had some touch of class to it. 100 years to come this will still be relevant and fresh
