That definitely WAS the bass. Entwistle's settings were fairly simple: full bass, full treble, full volume. He quite often sounds like a bass and a guitar in unison. Monstrous tone.

As well as "Young Man Blues", check out "Water" from the same show.

As a drummer and a huge Moon fan his drumming is not as chaotic as it sounds. He plays along with the guitar and Daltrey’s singing. It what’s more amazing if you listen to the Live at Leeds album from 1970 and then the Live at Hull album which was a few days after the Leeds gig, Moon plays the same songs but both gigs he plays them differently including the fills.

Watch Young Man Blues from the same show. Absolutely awesome. Make sure it’s the 3 camera version though. Best one on RU-vid.

Keith Moon attacked songs aggressively, but there was always a reason to his madness. He didn't just play `to` a song. he made himself a part of it.

I believe Pete was more of the time keeper and Keith followed him, as strange as that sounds. That's def bass. John would split his outputs, high and low. He probably could toggle to a specific pickup to get just high end for that part. Pete has spoken at length to how much of the who sound was John.
