When this album came out, we were all utterly gobsmacked by the production value of this album. It was shockingly good.

So glad for your recognition of Mick Fleetwood on the drums. A lot of reactors take it for granted, don't even mention it!

It’s wonderful to have actual MUSICIANS react to songs from my younger days. I just subbed because of your Zeppelin reaction. One of you is certainly A drummer, yes? In any case, Zeppelin and Floyd are my two classic faves…along with Queen, Dire Straits, The Stones, The Beatles, Eagles and so many others. I would also be interested in your take on prog rock, grunge, and such bands as Tool….especially if great drumming is high on your list. You’ll grow your channel pretty quickly with reactions to the great bands of the 60’s, 70s, 80’s …..We older folks love to find knowledgable younger folk to talk about music from our own youthful days. A suggestion for another song: Try out Peg from Steely Dan. See what you think of that incredible and VERY unique band.

The band were primarily their own producers - namely Buckingham. Outside producers were primarily engineers. This song is an A+ example of Buckingham as arranger/producer. It's a Frankenstein monster song cobbled and literally spliced together with razor blades from multiple bits of songs, lyrics and performances - hence the name The Chain. The last part of the song was the first part recorded playing a Christine McVie song where John McVie and Lindsey jammed out with most the rest of the song wiped for the final version, except using Christine's melody as the chorus. The drum parts are Lindsey telling Mick what to play as he figured out - three weeks before the album wrapped - how to make the song work by pulling the essence of the baseline backward then melding it with an intro of an old Lindsey song then building new verses until they join with the chorus and the famous bass line riff. The vocals went on last. It took 10 months from when they started until it was finished and almost missed making the album. The Chain is shockingly not on RS' top 500 list. The latest from 2021 has only “Dreams,” “Landslide,” and “Go Your Own Way from Fleetwood Mac. Dreams got an enormous jump from Tik Tok...

Fleetwood Mac is the only band I know that is named for its rhythm section. But Mick Fleetwood and John MacVie really brought it. The drums and bass in this song are a great example of them driving a song forward.

Micks drumming on I'm So Afraid live Tusk is phenomenal. His face reveals the pure pleasure of it all. He and Lindsay meld perfectly. What a gem!!!!

That reminds me ... F1 is on this weekend. Back when this came out I was disappointed that it got more awards and I think charted higher than Hotel California, but probably as an entire album it has stood the test of time better.

Guys, great reaction. Sorry to go off topic but based on your conversation I think you would enjoy this recommendation. If you want to hear incredible authentic, live, one take music/performance art you really should react to Hi Ren, by independent British artist Ren Gill. He is an amazing talent who has a compelling back story. His catalogue is very diverse, from Busking in Brighton with a band called the 'Big Push' doing quite innovative covers, to Rap (don't judge!), to theatrical multi-part stories, beautiful collaborations etc etc. He has blown up over the last year or so through the YT reaction community so he is happy for reaction channels to play his videos un-censored. If you do know him, then apologies for waffling on unnecessarily! Cheers

You should watch the live version from 1997's "The Dance". Twenty years after all of the breakups and you can still feel the tension.

Even better is the live 1982 version, where it's even more obvious.

If you want off/the -wall drumming by Bonham, then Achilles Last Stand Knebworth 79 or Trampmed Under Foot live Earls Court 1975.
