Another great cinematic universe like this one Is the full moon cinematic universe who made classics like, gingerdead man and evil bong and gingerdead man vs evil bong!
@@the5wards I mean the league of super pets and the pet avengers are a thing, but we just got one of those and the pet avengers are probably not gonna come out till like phase 10 when marvel is really running out of ideas for recognizable IPs XD
Seriously I am one of those actors! I couldn’t believe seeing the poster of “Cascadia Treasure “ 😂 Austin let me know if you ever wanna know about some of the filming. 😁
It upsets me very much to learn that there's a restaurant chain called Wienerschnitzel over there which does not serve Wiener schnitzel. That's like calling your restaurant BUFFALO WINGS and only serving buffalo steak.
in fairness, there are several chain restaurants that sell chicken-fried steak, which is basically American schnitzel (it's usually made with top round cutlets though, not veal).
2:02 As a German, it really hurt finding out that there's an American company called "Wienerschnitzel" that doesn't even sell Wiener Schnitzel. Also, you can tell that they don't speak German because 1. if it's spelled without a space it technically means "cutlet made of the flesh of people from Vienna" and 2. the original name of the company was "Der Wienerschnitzel", but "Schnitzel" is neutral ("das") unless you mean "snippet".
I onces saw "Dutch Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus" in Canada. Every word is wrong. Pfanntastic and haus are German words. And pannenkoek haus should be pannenkoekhuis/pannekoekhuis. It didnt hurt me though. Its just 'ignorance' and no customer notices it.
@@rutgerb "Pfanntastic" is not a German word. Apparently they combined "Pfanne" (German for "pan") and "fantastic" ("fantastisch" or "phantastisch" in German).
I knew the Dad from Weiner Dog Nationals looked familiar. He was also the Dad from that genie movie that Danny Gonzalez covered. Guess he's typecast as a depressed Dad in low budget family films.
Here's my theory on the mysterious wandering dog injury. They got a dog who could act wounded with only his front paw. But (having had several myself) dachshunds can only really pull off something like a cast from the back paws (no leverage for the front, see?). So they said, "eh, who's gonna notice?" But they weren't counting on you, Austin! Love your videos (and keep representing our state!)
It bugs me that Wienerschnitzel sells hot dogs because Americans think "hot dog" when they hear "wiener." But Wienerschnitzel is a style of breaded pork, steak, or veal. Wiener sausages and Wiener schnitzel are both called that because they come from Vienna (Wien in German). I would go into a Wienerschnitzel expecting actual Wiener schnitzel and leave disappointed and soul-crushed.

Christ on a unicycle, this is majestic. My only regret is that I didn't watch this when you published it. My former comments on your other videos stand. 11/10
Man what an experience, I didn't even know that dachshund racing was a thing, maybe I should get my dog registered too. Also a love the fact that one if the points of conflict is the dad pushing the dog too hard because he wants to impress his lady friend. He really should stop thinking with his *wiener* and start thinking about his *dog*!
I just want to say, that while you may not get many views anymore, you are a phenomenal creator and my favorite on the platform. Your videos are always high quality and you consistently provide what I never knew I wanted.
Immediately after completing this, I KNOW we need to have a Weiner Dog International follow-up. Austin, this is your legacy, your responsibility, NAY, your Destiny!!!
Low-budget direct-to-DVD movies are an untapped goldmine for commentary imho. I would honestly watch the heck out of this if it became a series. Jurassic School or Ghost Squad, anyone? (Also, if you're looking for some recommendations within this bizarre genre, my cousin would watch the movies Standing Ovation and Dear Dumb Diary on repeat when she was younger. Both of them are generic tween girl feel-good movie musicals with some completely bizarre story choices that you would absolutely get a kick out of)
Why is a hot dog company called Wienershnitzel? Wiener schnitzel is a breaded and fried veal cutlet. Its not a hot dog. In German, the word 'Wiener' means 'from Wien'; Wein being the German name for the city of Vienna.
thank you for pronouncing the w right. most people will just pronounce it the english way, but u actually knew what u were doing this doesnt matter *at all* but i still appreciated it
Thanks, Michelle. I dunno what I’m doing wrong, but I’m gonna keep trying. If you can do me a favor by sharing videos like this around, it would be greatly appreciated. Take care.
Videos like this are why I absolutely love this channel. You notice the small things in films that other people would never notice and make me realize things that no one else would know. Speculating about what directors were thinking or what cinematographers were doing really shows me movies in a new light.
Austin, I just applied for an internship with a very reputable production studio and used your video on Sprouting Orchids as an example of powerful storytelling in unconventional places. IF THEY TURN ME DOWN BECAUSE THEY LOOK YOU UP AND SEE THAT YOUR MOST RECENT VIDEO HAS A PICTURE OF YOU IN A HOT DOG SUIT WITH A WEINER DOG IN THE BACKGROUND, YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM ME.
I can never watch these kinds of movies, because I always feel a kind of second hand embarrassment for the people involved. I know that they chose to be involved, and I hope they enjoyed themselves, but for some reason I always feel like bad for them.
For me it's when I recognize actors from much better productions (such as "the guy from Mad Men"; he also had a part in 12 Years a Slave). Like, you know this isn't what they want to be doing.
It took me until halfway through the video to realize that the dad guest starred on 7th Heaven, and his brother was a series regular. So glad my brain had that important piece of information stored away. 🤣 The redhead is also a regular Hallmark (or Lifetime?) movie actress. Watching those is a bit of a guilty pleasure as well. The plot/script is so predictable, but it's fun to see actors you may not have seen in a while and honestly not to have to put a lot of effort into following what's happening. There's something comforting about them when everything else in the world is crazy.
It's really cool ho you used your own movie- making experiences to pick out different things in the background. I would've just have just dismissed this movie as a low-effort kids movie but you're analysis was great to watch and made me reconisder that opinion. It's clearly not a masterpiece and the fact they blew a million on this is baffling but there was clearly some attempt at crafting a nice movie.
In all honesty, I have been on an Austin Mcconnel binge since past 2 days and I feel so relaxed doing so. I even rewatched the videos I have already rewatched multiple times. Rewatching this one too.
@@austinmcconnell You have been putting a smile on my face for years dude. Keep it up. Even at this point of time I am too stressed out for my job interviews and it's your channel that is keeping me calm and somewhat happy. 🙂
always love watching your videos and i laughed so much during this one! gosh the hot dog costume 😂 this brought me so much joy! ☺️ thank you for all the hard work and creativity you put into these!! your passion is evident!
Thanks so much for watching. Sounds like it put a smile on your face, which is the reason I made it. :) If you've got a free moment or two, it would mean the world to me if you could share the video around with others. Hope you have a great week!
I love this channel, it feels like a friend yo can leave for months and come back and ask "hey what are you up to?" and fall down a rabbit hole of Weiner dogs and obscure comic book characters. Keep up the good work.
So, since your latest video has comments disabled, I'll just leave it here that yesterday I just finished the first book and right now I was watching the movie, so it's a nice coincidence
16:08 my money is on the fact that the trainers couldn't get her to pull the bandage off her front paw, so they just used the back, and of course they werent going to reshoot the other scenes.
Thanks, Nate. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch! If you've got a spare minute, sharing this video around would really help. Hope you're having a great week! Take care.
Yup! I make at least one a month, despite what RU-vid likes to tells my subscribers. If you've missed any, feel free to check the backlog and get caught up! :)
I'm pretty certain that the dad actor is the same one from the movie Danny Gonzalez covered about the genie lamp. Edit: it is absolutely the same actor, Jason London. Hilarious. Also, the Merryweather actor was also in the Christian Mingle movie, covered by Kurtis Conner. It's all coming together.
The whole thing was filmed in the New York area (IMDB) but the road trip montage was filmed in Portland Oregon. Uhh? The big pink building, nicknamed Big Pink, in the US Bank Corp tower.
This was filmed in my city, New Orleans. And we have weiner dog racing at the race track at least once a year. Also ostrich and llama races. Its a hoot! Go if you can. And the races are like 50 yards. Usually the winner is the weiner that crosses the finish line. So fun! The race guy is Mr Batt, I think. He is from/lives here.
All I could think about this whole video as a german was "Wait... they have a restaurant chain in the US called Wienerschnitzel and their main product is HotDogs??" I guess I will soon open my new Restaurant called "Hamburger" where I will sell Sushi
@TerribleWritingAdvice incorporates all of his sponsors as a mini-plot at the end of his videos and I think Squarespace was one of them. Not quite the same, but I am surprised that there aren't more sponsor mini-series on RU-vid.
I cannot get over how the image of the 'mother when she was young' is clearly a photo of a contemporary young girl. Could they not have gotten a stock photo of a girl from the 70's/80's or something? Instead of this photo of what is probably the directors own daughter.
I'm actually really warming to the idea. Although seeing as this is the worst performing video on my channel this year, I'd need more folks on board before committing to it. 😂
