Yeah I agree with this also I think one of the main reason’s Supernatural was so good despite being a CW show was because it was a story about brothers rather than a love story, I never find love stories interesting but CW do them the worst (I think due to their politics) but they are really good at brotherly love stories. For example the originals, I really enjoyed that show for the brotherly relationships but all the love story scenes I struggled to sit through and sometimes would even skip past. Also I can just tell by the look and the casting that this won’t be very good.

My thoughts exactly, this is NOT what's in the canon, we had the 2 time-travel episodes where we saw young John and Mary, and this show looks like the complete opposite. Jensen had said they were going by source material, the only way I see them aligning this to canon is having John's memory erased somehow, otherwise it's totally crap.

Since Jensen’s producing the show, I don’t think he would mess with legacy of the original show.

not seeing how this messes with Canon. From what I remember of the time travel episode they did establish Mary was from a family of Hunters and at some point John becomes a man of letters, presumably after marrying Mary

canon? you might as well erase the word from your mind because it has no meaning in the current world of entertainment. People will throw the word around but they won't respect it. Just enjoy the ride if you can or get off the train. Maybe don't even bother getting on the train until you know the destination.

Yeah, and the creators had a diary made for John too...which also touches on the relationship of John of Mary. So all that effort and time and money.....just going to be wiped away...

But there is no story without chucks influence there. Up until he lost his powers, he controlled it all. So it isnt like when he lost his powers, the past would have been different. The only thing I can think of is the multiverse. We know supernatural had one right up until Chuck destroyed it.

So long as they end it with a memory wipe it’ll be fine plus a wipe would explain why Mary didn’t go for a weapon when she knew there was a intruder in her home and fix a major plot hole in the original show

If I'm being honest, I think a better spinoff idea for Supernatural would be to do a spinoff about Dean Winchester the second (Sam's son from the final episode). He could team up with another young hunter and they'd go off and have adventures of their own. It wouldn't be a massive retcon like this show is looking to be

That’s a good idea, so they probably won’t. Henry Winchester had promise. He would have been my choice to focus on.

I'd like to see that, however the timelines don't seem to add up- Henry time travelled to 2013 (and obviously didn't make it back) when John was like 8 or 9. This seems to be set when John is in his late teens or early 20's, long after Henry left. I suppose they could do flashbacks. Though they didn't bring back Matt Cohen or Amy Gumenick to play young John or Mary respectively, so it seems less likely they'll bring back the original Henry.

Makes you wonder if that’ll explain why the John was so good at hunting despite starting at middle age since in this continuity John learned in his early 20s. He’ll probably get his mind wiped of the supernatural at the end. His mom will probably die before the series ends too since she’s also aware of the supernatural. That or they change the continuity where they decide to leave hunting behind because Mary got pregnant with Dean and John just decided to keep their prior hunting life a secret from the kids.

Exactly what I am saying this literally makes no sense we already had the back story explained many times in multiple episodes across different seasons a men of letters show would have been so much better especially if it would end with a cliffhanger leading to a sequel to Supernatural.

Pois é, ao ver esse trailer me parece que tudo que aprendemos sobre eles vai ser colocado no lixo (esquecido), pois além do John só ter conhecimento do sobrenatural após a marte da Mary, o primeiro contato dela com demônios foi no primeiro episódio que o Dean é mandado para o passado pelo Castiel... E lá o demônio do olho amarelo se interessa por ela, e nesse pequeno tempo de tela, aprece ela caçando um demônio ao conhecer o John... Fora que o Jensen não ter convidado o Jared a participar também (e o mesmo só ficou sabendo pelas mídias) ainda não consigo engolir.

I'm in agreement with you on this one. True that a lot of the commentators here mention memory wipes being a factor in making this show stay canonically accurate but this IS CW we are talking about. Most of their shows nowadays are like crap and I have a feeling this show might go down that path.

Then again, IF the CW is finally sold off, the show might only get one season if the new owner doesn't want to renew it. Also, remember that David Zaslav as the new CEO of Warner Bros Discovery is currently canceling shows right and left that are not profitable and he MIGHT just ax this show in the bud if he deems it not worth the investment.

I'll save you the time. None of this is really gonna matter because it ends with them getting their memories erased.... again. Supernatural's mistake is that it gave you too much already on both John and Mary's life even during their youth. There literally isn't much to the imagination when looking at their story.
