I can't imagine the nightmare Christine had to live with. So terribly sad. May she and Walter be together on the other side. Thank you for sharing their story.
Her grave was unmarked for over 50 years, and many wondered where she was, until some fellow Taphophiles did some research, and discovered she was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, only to discover her grave was unmarked. The leader of my graving group found her gravesite, and organized a fundraiser to mark her grave. We all pitched in, and, several months later, on a hot September morning, we held an unveiling ceremony, honoring her, and Walter’s, memories.
I read books on this story. What an absolutely disgusting human being. And his mother helped him commit his crimes. His poor nephew was never the same.
Oh that poor mother! What a sad story. Every thing she went through. What a nightmare. May Christine and Walter rest in peace 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank for remembering her. And her little boy.
Thanks for covering this sad story, Ron. I did see the movie years ago but couldn't remember some important details which you covered thoroughly. Mainly, I was hoping maybe they found Walters remains which could be buried beside his mother but of course, that never happened. Christine was dealing with evil doings at several levels ( corrupt police, undeserved mental health commitment, a trouble making kid who claimed to be her missing son, etc). Truly it's amazing that she kept her own sanity through all this. May she rest in peace and be reunited with her son, finally.
What a dreadful story. I have heard of the movie "The Changeling", but didn't know anything about it. Poor Walter and Christine. Thanks for telling her story and for remembering her to us. R.I.P. Walter and Christine!
Poor Christine and Walter. It breaks my heart. I remember not even watching Changling all the way through because it was so sad. But the real story is even more horrific.
What an awful and terribly sad story. Such a disgusting way to treat someone who is already bereft of their missing child. Thank you Ron for covering this and I hope poor Christine and Walter are at peace and reunited....so sad too that they didnt even find his body, what a disgusting and evil man doing that to young boys and his mother was even worse for enabling his atrocities.
Thank you for sharing this story, I’ve been fascinated by it for some time now. What a crazy, wild ride. My heart hurts for Christine, especially since I am the mother of one 9 year old boy. I can’t imagine what she went through.
Thank you, Ron. I can't begin to imagine how much pain this mother had to endure. Walter went through horrible things because of this fiend. Just think about her being put away and couldn't search for her son. Awful just awful 😞
How horribly sad. The poor mother persecuted like nothing I've ever heard of. At least mother and son are now together in the afterlife. Life here on earth among humans is a pretty vicious thing sometimes. Rest in Peace Christine, Walter and the others that that monster and his mother killed. Thank you Ron! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sincerely thankful for all you do! Be well my friend. Blessed Be.
A light went on in my head when you spoke of committing inconvenient people. At the end of the 1800's my g g uncle was placed in a mental asylum. He had lost his fortune which he had made on the Victorian goldfields, was aged, and probably had dementia. He was found wandering around, homeless, and looking for his title to his mining claim. His family refused to take him, and he was placed in the institution. I guess he was one of the inconvenient ones.
I’m happy Christine was able to win her lawsuits, but sad because she lived the remainder of her life never to locate her son. At least now we know they’ve been reunited as of 1964 💐 RIP
There's another little twist in this story. The mother (Mrs Northcott) insisted on killing Walter Collins because he could identify Gordon by name. Gordon Northcott worked in a grocery store in Los Angeles and it was frequented by Christine and young Walter. The extent of that relationship isn't known but Mrs Northcott figured Walter knew him enough to name him. That's why she drove out to Wineville to see to it that Walter was silenced. Mrs Northcott killed Walter and then made Gordon and Sanford take a swing of the axe to "keep them from talking". Also there's no reason to believe Gordon would have left Walter live. So even if mommy dearest didn't intervene, the outcome could have been the same. Sanford Clark wrote an autobiography in the early 90s and he was quite detailed on that account. The real mystery here is just how many boys did Gordon rape and murder. Sanford said it was around twenty. We'll never know. Even though Gordon didn't instigate the killing of Walter, he still got what he deserved. The incident was so notorious Wineville changed its name to Miraloma.
This is a very sad and heartbreaking story. I feel terrible for that poor woman not knowing what happened to her son. The not knowing has to be so stressful. I feel the guy that murdered those children got him. I'm glad the piece of _ _ _ _ got what he deserved. Thank you Ron. Your stories are always so good. I love listening to them. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Ron 🦃🦃
It's such like a crazy trip for sure and I feel compassion for 'Christine Collins' 😢 😮. RIP Christine and Walter ❤ ❤ ❤. Thank you Ron for bringing more light to this important story. Indeed, thank you to @ FOTF Ron for this great video ❤ 😊.
I watched "Changeling" when it first came on video. It was such a sad movie, heartbreaking. I'd forgotten many details of it, but always remembered it was about a single mother (as I was at the time I saw it) and I remembered her young son disappeared. Also remembered when the police found all of the missing boys bodies. Thank you for sharing this poor woman's story, Ron. Another great video of yours.
Rest in peace, Christine & Walter in the arms of our Lord & everyone. I am a loving woman by nature. But as a mother of 2, grandmother of 4, great grandma of 1. I believe I would love taking out the garbage my way😉😇. Stay safe Sir & everyone. Happy Thanksgiving & sending virtual hugs to you all
Great job! I love the way you used Sepia & movement as going back in time, long ago. Seeing she passed 6 days before her birthday; that always fascinates me .
Hi Ron, I have seen the movie quite a few times, it's so fascinating. I live close to the evergreen cemetery here in LA. I had no idea she was buried there. I'm gonna go and pay my respects, thanks so much, you are awesome 🫶👍👏
That was absolutely horrible. The truth is always better than fiction you just can't make things up like this. I can't imagine the pain of a lost child and the betrayal of the captain and the fear of being put in a place where you don't belong be ause of corruption. So glad she stood her ground. Back in those days it was tough for a woman. You always find the unique stories and describe it well. Thank you 😉
I live about 20 minutes away in Riverside ca. and worked at a golf course about 5 minutes from where the chicken coop murders happened. When I found out about the murders, i got a really eerie feeling when I went to work after that. Such a very sad story!😢😢
This story is so sad. Makes me mad all of the gaslighting that the cops did to Christine. The monsters mother makes me mad too. Helped her son cover up crimes and his poor nephew went tho hell and back
The Wineville murders were so horrific the town later changed its name. The Northcotes didnt escape justice. But Christine did win her lawsuits, tragically unable to recover her son however. I never saw the movie however.
I recall seeing the movie based on these events. The way that Christine was treated after she stated the little imposter was not her son- absolutely infuriating!!! The fact that she had to provide dental evidence, then committed!!. As you said, chilling! Glad she filed lawsuit against the police department and won, but the heartbreaking loss and search for her son was a life sentence for poor Christine 😢 💔 i pray Walter and Christine are reunited in heaven, finally at peace. You can see in her face, what this ordeal did to her. Well told story Ron, thank you ❤
I feel bad for this poor lady, she was hurting, and that JJ dude had the audacity to call her a bad mother, telling her to try out Auther as if he was an item. Instead of helping her they went on to condemn her and committed her to a mental institution. Seriously they all ganged up on her. Gordon is heartless and his mum was crazy, helping his son commit murder is by far crazy and stupid. I hope that Gordon felt so much pain while dying. Rip Christine I hope Walter and you are reunited.
The movie, The Changling, was so good. I know there was more to it than what was shown, and things were changed, but still, it piqued my interest, and I did some more research into the story. Very sad.
This was a good one Ron so sad on how she was treated by the cops she had it so ruff .it was also so sad about her son this world has alot of low lifes I wish her and son are finally together again Bless them🕊️🙏🕊️🙏🕊️🙏
Very sad story Ron, poor Christine must have died of a broken heart. Walter was obviously murdered by that vile man. Unfortunately we have Devils amongst us.👹. Great movie with Angelina Jolie playing Christine. 🌹♥️🇬🇧👍
I did see that movie 🎬 What a deal. Trying to convince that poor woman that was her son. I remembered he was no good, but not everything. A bunch of evil 😈 people 😖 The other similar case I mentioned was not quite the same. They brought the parents the wrong boy. The parents knew. But decided to keep him anyway. He was a good kid. When he found out the story. He went looking for their real son. He found him. Not long before the guy passed away. Interesting twist. A twin Sister also went missing. She was never located. How many other similiar cases are out there? Do look like YOUR PARENTS, RON? 😅 😂 I'm my Mom's twin. 😆 🎉
I used to live a couple blocks away from the evergreen cemetery and I now live 5 mins away from the house where those events took place in Jurupa Valley (formerly known as Wineville).
How horrible that this lady was treated like a crazy woman. I can't even imagine what she went through losing her son and then being institutionalized too. It's so sad that they were never able to locate her boy. I feel like I should be mad at the other little boy for what he did but then again, I have to remember that he was just a kid too and had an immature mind. When my husband was small, he ran away from home to join the circus, so the people there gave him a job to do while they contacted his parents. So, I think the little boy in this episode was in that same kind of mindset. On top of all this, the poor woman unknowingly marries a convict. This lady went through a lot in her life. You just have to wonder what happens to these people that are never found. That headstone is beautiful and almost looks new to me. It's in such great shape. Well, at least her and her son are together again. RIP to both of them ❤💐
😢😢 I heard about this terrible story on American Horror Story “Hotel”. It is so sad 😞 I’ve never seen the movie, dramatized stories don’t interest me. I cannot begin the anguish that poor woman went through for so many years😢😢
That poor woman. To think about losing your child and LE forcing a little fraudster on you, then to add insult to injury they commit you. Asylums in those days were absolutely brutal. It's good that she was able to sue all involved and win. Being a woman back then wasn't easy for sure. It's a miracle that she won. Small comfort compared to losing your child and never knowing what happened. All the money in the world could not make up for that. The movie was very good, and your story was presented so well. Thanks Ron😊
We live in a evil world I myself don't have any kids and I'm thankful but I do have nieces and nephews we watch them every second they don't go outside by themselves
My mom's mom was born in 1919. She married an alcoholic, and they had the typical family dynamics of an alcoholic home. My mom was 10 or younger when she witnessed her dad and one of his brothers wrap her mom (Granny) up in a bedsheet and take her to the nearest psych ward. That was somewhere around 1953 or earlier. I believe she was an inconvenience since he was having an affair with his secretary. We seem to be going back to those days.
The poor mother; always searching. The police which are supposed to help, did not. As for the murderer molester and his MOTHER! jeez. What a disgusting duo. The children of those murders suffered immensely and so did their parents. What kind of a society do we live in to breed such monsters. Thanks for the story. Have a great day. 🙂
I knew the movie but had never watched it. I know about the chicken coop murders story, from American Horror Story. My biggest fear has always been one of my children vanishing and not knowing what happened.
Heartbreaking 😢 poor Christine, a mothers worst dread. These stories although a good cause to remember them to us it must be hard for you to find all these stories. Poor little Walter, I sincerely hope that they are now reunited 🙏
