Grimy dude. He just murdered someone with his bare hands and walks out striking convo and smiling like he had just put some money down on the Wizards or something.
Soon as that dude closed the door behind him, D should have turned around and fought. When he closes that door, it meant one of two things- rape or murder.
@AK Jay He turned his back on both of them, #AND called them out for murdering Wallace! At that point, everyone wants to get at you. Only a fool would think he was untouchable at that point!
@@paccbutler1826 You're right but he wasn't a true ghetto gangster. He didn't think that way. He didn't have this kind of instinct. It would be obvious fpr Avon or Wee Bey but not for him.
did anyone notice the connection when d'angelo talked about how he wanted to get out of the game that he would get to the point where he couldn't even breathe. also in the interrogation room when he said "you just live with this shit until you can't breathe no more" and how he just wanted to get out and breath like regular folk. then later in jail he gets strangled to death. i like how it also ties in perfectly with the rest of the story
D was green as grass man, ain’t no way I’m gonna let that man walk in, close the door and then try to act all buddy buddy with me like that in no prison. D should’ve seen this coming for miles.
@@wreckshop404 Right? We have to protect all the murderers and drug dealers from being brought to justice. They are the reason our communitites are on the up and up. I would hate to raise a family in a neighborhood where people weren't selling crack to children or shooting each other over trivial nonsense. Snitches are the worst.
D was like the main fucking character in my eyes and they killed his ass like it was nothing?! I thought to myself "There's no way they actually killed off his character like this." so I get on the wiki to see what episode was his final appearance because I couldn't be patient and I was stunned to see this is actually the last episode for him....
Billy Troll He's one of my least favorite characters. I think the show kind of lets you decide in your head. Whoever you find most interesting I guess. I'm only on season 3 tho!
I thought you knew my friend that you didn't hide Works somebody's always after your girlfriend like in it the movie about Caligula when he had his top General killed he had a beard up in a pit up to his neck while machine was coming back cutting off everybody's neck and colligative had his wife giving him a blow job why he looked down upon his top General who was loyal to him in all the general could do was look with sadness and his wife given kuliga a blowjob and in the machine got close to him and cut his neck off that's how you do dat motherfukers are in history man that's why I don't have a wife because I don't got to worry about nobody trying to fuck her since she don't exist however I don't mind fucking somebody else's wife because any man that got him a woman ain't nothing but a pussy I don't need no kept woman if I want a woman I go get somebody else's women are weak wise because when they are emotional and they need some comfort they will fuck anybody morals go out the window.
Larry Gilliard jr. can't catch a break. he has to run laps with the crazy assistant coach in waterboy gets hung and dragged in gangs of new york. gets choked to death on the wire. gets his legs eaten and eventually killed in the walking dead. poor guy
It's not suicide! It was set up to look like a accident. He put his hands in his pants to make it look like autoerotic asphyxiation. D wasn't suicidal so a sucide would raise more questions. In the practice of Autoerotic asphyxiation They usually devise some kind of rescue mechanism to stop the asphyxiation once they've climaxed. But the fail-safe often fails. For example, they may tie a slip-knot or hang themselves from something that's shorter than they are (door knob), so they can simply stand up to stop the strangulation. But they may get so weak and disoriented from lack of oxygen that they can't pull out the knot or stand up, and they pass out and die.
McNulty discovers that it isn't and passes that information off to Brianna, but nobody cares and the original jail investigator probably did a terrible job with it and is fine with not needing to investigate a murder with no leads. (Most likely fucked up the crime scene too when getting the door open.)
That was the injustice and foolishness of String, compared to Avon. Avon had a blindspot for his family in the 'game', but he was a good read of people. He knew D wasn't happy in jail, but sensed that D's loyal nature would win out. D was actually starting to 'find himself' in prison, and he wasn't planning on flipping. He felt he'd made a break with the game and his family, would do his time, and start a new life once he got out. String's rational/analytic skills worked great as a COO and keeping a business profitable, but D was his achilles heal and he misread him the entire series. String should have just left D alone. He got rid of what he thought was a 'problem' - D'Angelo potential flipping - but it lead to String, basically, getting rid of himself.
See, I don't think it's as clear as that. It certainly seems at the time he was killed that D had no intention of flipping - but I think it's possible he might have in a few years. Remember that D was looking for redemption, a way to make good and free himself from the life he led. Well, he could have come to see going to the police as part of that. Imagine he found religious faith, for instance, and his pastor starts telling him the only way to get close to God is to tell the cops what he knows (this is very common, by the way). Not saying any of that is certain, but I definitely get why Stringer saw him as a liability.
D was weak. He was a great character but he was weak. And weak people don't survive in this business these guys are in. Doesn't matter who's nephew you are.
jamie shannon yeah thanks for advising this fictional character what he should have done, im sure this fictional character would have loved your vast and superior knowledge of the prison life.
Coming from a street nigga that's living the wire in reality....it is the saddest death... he gotten himself so deep in the streets but wasn't even a street guy deep down inside. In psychology they teach about nature and nurture. Naturally he was a good spirit but the streets is what nurtured him into being something he wasn't. Kids take notes just because your favorite rapper glorifying it doesn't make it right. You hop in these streets and go against the grain in anyway...it may cost u yo life.
Shocking, didn't expect D to die this early on in the show. Initially I actually thought Avon had him taken out since D basically disowned him after the heroin set-up. When it turned out to be Stringer it made all the sense in the world. D's outburst at Stringer in the famous "where's Wallace" scene, and then when he cut ties with Avon while still in prison were what did him in. When Avon told Stringer about D wanting out, stringer assumed he would be snitching in no time.
The clues that it was Stringer were all in there though leading up to it. The Wallace scene, the conversation Stringer had in the car with the DC guy, the conversations he had with Avon about him....
Me too because he didn't really complete the job until he tied it to the door handle and then I thought he make it look like a suicide attempt even though it didn't make sense but it's a fucked up way to kill him off when all he wanted to do was read books
another somewhat good person, who had the potential to be great, destroyed by the institution he was part of(the game), just like Frank and the docks, and McNulty's addiction to police work
I cant find the scene on RU-vid, but the scene where D'angelo and Avon see each other for the last time, is some masterful camera work. The way the camera moves away from Avon and afterwards zooms in on D'angelo is brillant. Not a word spoken between them, but it is all in the images. D'angelo has moved beyond his so called family, who have done nothing but use him in their advantage and he is ready to begin living his life on a righteous path, free from the schackles of the Barksdales. Avon can see this and in a way, it was some sort of poetic justice, that d'angelo, right before his death, got the upper hand over Avon, was the better man and his soul was freed from the game. A short, but very powerful scene.
I have just arrived to this point in the series. During the chess scene in season 1 I was really hoping the three boys were making a pact to survive the "game" together. Sadly Wallace gets executed by his own gang, D by his own "family". On the one hand I can see why killing these characters adds depth to the depicted world. After all, if the good (or rather likeable) guys have no chance of dying, then we have our generic watered down Hollywood trash, with no meaning, just meant to fill their airtime. On the other hand I would have loved to see their alliance spanning over the entire series, and eventually stay afloat while the "players" go down one after the other. D finally realized "The Family" is just business, and that he´s just capital in it.
I remember when I first watched this as a kid, this was the first scene I watched from The Wire & I didnt know wth was going on but I was confused and felt sad for D smh
This was the most gut wrenching scene in fucking television history... My absolute FAVORITE character was killed and it like, legitimately brought me pain to see this. What an amazing show.
it is so obvious that the guy was murdered. the killer leaves finger prints EVERY WHERE( on the belt, the door etc) D' angelo still has his belt, the killer just walks out and there are people right outside. did nobody see that he had been inside? he is not exactly being furtive, is it that nobody cared(except Mcnulty?)kind of reminds of Casablanca where they said human life was cheap. after someone died at a police station they said they were still deciding whether he committed suicide or was shot while trying to escape etc etc
Oh wow yea bro one of the prisoner’s finger prints are in the library where he and everyone else are walking around going in an out of day after day. I’m sure that the only fingerprints recovered were D’s and his. Did I see how many other prisoners were walking around there? Plus a main theme of the wire is the lack or resources and police caring about murders/fudging statistics to lower their areas murder and crime rates. I mean seriously think about how that woulda led to him outa all the other prisoners there that day being charged and convicted, if u honestly think that he woulda been caught then I’m sorry I wasted my time writing to a fuckin moron.
The news doesn’t talk about a lot of shit. They only write about shit to grab ur attention, which is why they sensationalize everything n try to race bait like they wana start another civil war
this was my favorite episode out the season. omar testified on bird, nick sobotka became more connected with the greek, and this classic death scene from d.
The Sandra Bland case made me think og this scene from The Wire. When I first heard the details and uncertainty surrounding her death, this immediately came to mind. Thumbs up if I'm not the only one...
Desmond Bailey Right, because a 6ft woman couldn't hang herself on that 5'11 object,I hope I see the day America falls on its knees then China takes over, its just fucking sad man
Desmond Bailey There were no cameras inside Bland's cell, but cameras in the hallway outside showed no one entering or leaving before her body was discovered. Preliminary autopsy results found that Bland’s body did not show any defensive injuries, which would have been signs of foul play. Bland's booking forms even showed she admitted she felt depressed and once attempted suicide by pills. Bland was given a suicide assessment by a jailer. That time, she said was not feeling suicidal and no longer felt depressed. Once again, she reported the previous suicide attempt. You cannot convict people off of your personal opinions or assumptions. It’s people exactly like you and your minions who are tearing this country apart. Yeah, JUST LIKE YOU!!
+MrChiLLWiLL81 you are the very problem with this nation right now. You have no evidence and all the evidence leads to her committing suicide. And how the fuck are digital tapes edited by some some cops with high school diploma? The fuck outta here. If anyone is racist and hateful it is you. Throwing out accusations about something you know nothing about. But hey, keep that lie and hustle going. "The cops are out to get everybody's. It's all you got. It scares the wheel, but not me.
This was truly one of the most shocking moments I have seen on tv....I was terrified...I will make sure I bring all my books on time from now on with no overdue fines. In fact I will never be able to look at a librarian in the same way again.
I must have fallen asleep for this in season 2!! just got onto season 3 ep 2. with string talking to avon in prison. its a great show, but we didn't have HBO when I was growing up.
I like how they foreshadowed his death. Early on he knocked over a stool , which is common for someone to stand on when they hang or attempt to hang themselves
#whathappenedtosandrabland #thisiswhathappenedtosandrabland #thisishowtheykilledsandrabland She was 6 feet and hung herself on something 5 feet how SWAY HOW!!!!
They don't mention it but the guy who did this job was clearly ex military. He knew sentry removal elimation techniques and how to cover his tracks. Likely not super elite but was at least infantry or something.
Not only was he not able to be in that room but he also closed the door behind him and dee didn't pick up on that he couldn't survive in the streets or in jail
this show always reminds me how real the world really is. I think we all get sucked into going through the motions of life and we forget about how backwards things can be. too many times right is wrong, wrong is right, and good and evil are arbitrary. Deserve really does have nothing to do with anything.
+Jerome Holloman he was about to get a plea bargain... but he turned it down at the last second. Stringer set it up thinking D was gonna snitch. Stringer never knew what D said but the still got him killed..
